We are hoping to get a good turnout for the AGM with guest speakers also presenting on the night. Our speakers are from companies ASPECT and Bambacore which should make for interesting discussion on the topics. Also being awarded on the night will be the young achiever of the year award. I wish all applicants the best of luck with their submissions. A second bare foot bowls day is going to happen soon so keep any eye out for fliers and information in the coming months. I am sure that there will be a few of us heading over the world’s largest plastics show known as “K Fair” held every three years in Dusseldorf Germany. For those travelling to the fair I wish you all a safe journey. We have just completed shooting a video to advertise the plastics industry to the younger ones looking for a career in plastics. Please keep an eye in coming weeks for the release of this on the PIMA web site. Please keep an eye on the PIMA web site for any updates that are happening in our industry. I look forward to seeing everyone at the AGM, thanks. Kindest regards, Grahame Aston President October 2019 Newsletter PIMA NEWSLETTER

Bambacore - DISTRIBUTOR OF BIO-POLYMERS AND COMPOUNDS
Profile
Bambacore is an Australian based company that is providing bio-based solutions and services to the plastics industry. With its innovative technologies, Bambacore provides ways to use the incredible benefits of natural fibres and bio-polymers to address some modern-day challenges like sustainability, light-weighting and cost competitiveness.
We utilise natural fibres such as bamboo, rice/wheat husk, corn starch and other fillers with benefits that include improved mechanical properties, greater strength and rigidity.
Our materials provide sustainable and biodegradable solutions that address environmental considerations to reduce our carbon foot print and growing concerns associated with single-use plastics. We are present in major markets with in-country technical support to help our customers adapt materials and make a real difference.
Bambacore is a distributor of innovative bio-polymer and compounds, including Bioblend®, Spectabio® and Spectadur® grades.
Bioblend® is a modified PLA-blend. The grade is enhanced with a blend of natural mineral fillers.
All Bioblend® grades are compostable according to EN 13432 and ASTM D6400
(biodegradable in industrial conditions).
Bioblend B and T grades are designed to be biodegradable in soil.
Bioblend L grades are heat resistant at temperatures up to 110°C.
Bioblend® grades are widely used for single use applications like cutlery, food containers, cups, trays, tray tables, vanity cases and items, etc.
Bioblend® grades contribute to the transition away from a linear to a circular economy, accelerating sustainable development and promotion of bio-based products.
Spectadur® and Biodur® grades are sustainable, durable polymers. Spectadur® is a line of materials reinforced with bamboo fibers, rice husk or wheat straw/husk. Biodur® compounds are blends of different bio-polymers and/or filled with mineral fillers. All materials have improved thermal and mechanical properties with reduced cost levels.
The material reduces the use of traditional plastics by using up to 50 weight-% of natural bio- content as reinforcement or filler.
Both grades are available as sheets suitable for compression moulding & thermoforming.
To suite different product needs, we have grades with varying mechanical, thermal and processing properties.
Spectadur® Grades Biodur® Grades
Durable thermoplastics compounds reinforced with
bamboo fibres , rice husk or wheat straw/husk.
Blended with biopolymers, starch or filled with mineral fillers.
Can replace most of the currently used PP/PE items.
