We are hoping to get a good turnout for the AGM with guest speakers also presenting on the night. Our speakers are from companies ASPECT and Bambacore which should make for interesting discussion on the topics. Also being awarded on the night will be the young achiever of the year award. I wish all applicants the best of luck with their submissions. A second bare foot bowls day is going to happen soon so keep any eye out for fliers and information in the coming months. I am sure that there will be a few of us heading over the world’s largest plastics show known as “K Fair” held every three years in Dusseldorf Germany. For those travelling to the fair I wish you all a safe journey. We have just completed shooting a video to advertise the plastics industry to the younger ones looking for a career in plastics. Please keep an eye in coming weeks for the release of this on the PIMA web site. Please keep an eye on the PIMA web site for any updates that are happening in our industry. I look forward to seeing everyone at the AGM, thanks. Kindest regards, Grahame Aston President October 2019 Newsletter PIMA NEWSLETTER

Bambacore - DISTRIBUTOR OF BIO-POLYMERS AND COMPOUNDS

Profile

Bambacore is an Australian based company that is providing bio-based solutions and services to the plastics industry. With its innovative technologies, Bambacore provides ways to use the incredible benefits of natural fibres and bio-polymers to address some modern-day challenges like sustainability, light-weighting and cost competitiveness.

We utilise natural fibres such as bamboo, rice/wheat husk, corn starch and other fillers with benefits that include improved mechanical properties, greater strength and rigidity.

Our materials provide sustainable and biodegradable solutions that address environmental considerations to reduce our carbon foot print and growing concerns associated with single-use plastics. We are present in major markets with in-country technical support to help our customers adapt materials and make a real difference.

PRODUCT RANGE

Bambacore is a distributor of innovative bio-polymer and compounds, including Bioblend®, Spectabio® and Spectadur® grades.

Bioblend® is a modified PLA-blend. The grade is enhanced with a blend of natural mineral fillers.

All Bioblend® grades are compostable according to EN 13432 and ASTM D6400

(biodegradable in industrial conditions).

Bioblend B and T grades are designed to be biodegradable in soil.

Bioblend L grades are heat resistant at temperatures up to 110°C.

Bioblend® grades are widely used for single use applications like cutlery, food containers, cups, trays, tray tables, vanity cases and items, etc.

Bioblend® grades contribute to the transition away from a linear to a circular economy, accelerating sustainable development and promotion of bio-based products.

PRODUCT RANGE

Spectadur® and Biodur® grades are sustainable, durable polymers. Spectadur® is a line of materials reinforced with bamboo fibers, rice husk or wheat straw/husk. Biodur® compounds are blends of different bio-polymers and/or filled with mineral fillers. All materials have improved thermal and mechanical properties with reduced cost levels.

The material reduces the use of traditional plastics by using up to 50 weight-% of natural bio- content as reinforcement or filler.

Both grades are available as sheets suitable for compression moulding & thermoforming.

To suite different product needs, we have grades with varying mechanical, thermal and processing properties.

Spectadur® Grades Biodur® Grades

Durable thermoplastics compounds reinforced with

bamboo fibres , rice husk or wheat straw/husk.

Blended with biopolymers, starch or filled with mineral fillers.

Can replace most of the currently used PP/PE items.

Can be used for packaging or food containers.

of the factory floor.

“If you want to grow, adopt this technology...” David Tsui, Managing Director, Bonson

World-leading, manufacturing

productivity software

Easy,liveschedulingandvisibility

on the manufacturingfloor

• Drag and drop work orders into a

system that creates a live schedule,

physically linked to production

machines.

• No more manual scheduling and

data entry.

• See exactly how manufacturing

machines are performing. No need to

manually log machine progress.

Comprehensive Enterprise

Resource Planning (ERP) integration

• AspectPL works with any existing

ERP. Work orders are extracted from

the ERP and dropped into AspectPL

for production. Production data is

automatically integrated back into

the ERP.

• Licensed per machine, line or

workstation – not per user, allowing

unrestricted staff access to

live production data.

Advanced traceability and quality management

• AspectPL provides a barcode system

that makes the entire manufacturing

process traceable – from manufacturing

floor to warehouse and despatch.

• Quality issues are traced to the job,

when it was produced and who

packed it. Data is seamlessly integrated

back into the ERP – no more manual

data entry.

ROI is gained quickly through

business efficiencies

• AspectPL is affordable – just a

one-off establishment cost and a

monthly software license fee.

• Requires only one centralised PLC

(not individual PLCs at every machine)

enabling cost savings.

• This solution may be applied to almost

any discrete manufacturing process.

• AspectPL data helps businesses

improve efficiencies and reduce labour

resources. Analysis provided promotes

advanced lean manufacturing practices.

“ I don’t know how we would have managed

customer demand swings without AspectPL...” Brett Hopwood, General Manager, Pharmapac

AspectPL bridges the data

gap betweenmanufacturing

work orders, production,quality

and despatch and integrates

with any ERP system.

Digital transformation of the factory floor

Because AspectPL digitises the

manufacturing floor it also mitigates

the manual tasks that can hamstring

a manufacturing team – like manual

scheduling and physically checking job

progress. With AspectPL the schedule

is produced quickly and easily and as

AspectPL runs in real time, the schedule

& production data is always up to date.

Users may view AspectPL via a wireless

tablet, a smart phone or a PC, and access

the system from anywhere, at any time.

Smart manufacturing

AspectPL can integrate with any existing

ERP system. Production orders may be

extracted from the ERP, dropped into

AspectPL for production and at the end

of the manufacturing process, production

data can be automatically integrated back

into the ERP.

Increase manufacturing efficiencies with data and analysis

Data delivers visibility – if you know

what’s happening on a manufacturing

floor– you can improve it. Data analysis

allowsmanufacturingandmanagement

staff to drill down on problem areas –

such as product rejects, downtimes,

die change problems and the utilisation

of manufacturing machines.
