• A screencast is a digital recording of computer screen output, also known as a video screen capture, often containing audio narration

• Audio– Provide a voice-over to a PowerPoint presentation– Provide interviews with experts

• Reflective questions– Create question screens, ask questions using voice over and get the student to

pause the screen and reflect on their own answers before revealing the answer

• Videos– Use the correct dimensions when you are recording and editing your video, so you

fill the space properly and know what area you are working with.

What is a screencast?

• Create a manageable learning module, not too long, not too short.

• Audio quality is really important.

• Keeping it small = faster download speed.

• When viewing podcasts, vodcasts, screencasts, apps, etc on the Web, ask yourself:– Did you enjoy it? Or did it lose your attention?

• How was this achieved?• How could you improve it?

Final thoughts on developing screencasts
