INFORMATION ABOUT THE GREEK FIR/UIR

Greek FIR consists of two main ACC, Athinai (LGGG_CTR) and Makedonia (LGMD_CTR). Both

of them are able to split to two smaller sectors of West and East (W & E).

Depending on the traffic the two original sectors will be manned only, providing separation

to higher levels and overflying flights.

In the following table you will find all relevant information.

DEPARTURES

TIME OF DEPARTURES:

You can find the departure times in the booking system. Your aim should be to ask for a

pushback or engine start up +-5 minutes of your flights departure time.

Attention: all times are in ZULU!!

You can connect to the network 20 minutes before your departure time in the parking

position written in the booking system. ATC clearance can be requested 10 minutes

before your scheduled departure time.

If you are not ready for pushback or engine start up 5 minutes after your departure time,

your flights is marked a delayed.

In this case you have to report it to the ATC controller to issue you a new departure time.

CLEARANCE:

In Athens airport, you can obtain your clearance from LGAV_DEL Venizelos Delivery

frequency 118.670.

In your first contact with the station pass the following information:

• Callsign

• Type of Aircraft

• Parking Position

• ATIS information

Example:

Pilot: Venizelos Delivery good evening, Greek Division 001, Airbus 320, in position 6 with ATIS

Foxtrot, request clearance to Heraklion as filed.

ATC: Greek Division 001, Foxtrot is correct, you are cleared to Heraklion as filed with SOREV 2J

departure, Runway 03R, initial climb FL130, squawk 5601.

After your correct read back the controller will reply to you: “Read back correct, contact

Athens Ground on 121.700” or in the case of Souda airport “Read back correct, report when

ready for engine start-up”

If you are unable to follow an instructed procedure report it timely to the controller.

240 KIAS limitations to Speed apply from FL100 or Lower.

220 KT at or below 5000ft, when established on the final approach course or until 14NM from

the landing threshold, whichever occurs first;
