PIKWAKANAGAN MENTAL WELLNESS AND RECOVERY DAY
Wednesday November 14, 2018
10:00 am—3:00 pm Makwa Community Centre
83B Kagagimin Inamo, Pikwakanagan, ON
It is my pleasure to invite you to our ‘Mental Wellness & Recovery Day’. This event is open to all community members to support those in our community who are affected by mental health and substance use disorders in one way or another.
We know that mental health and substance use disorders often go completely untreated in part due to a stigma that goes back centuries which still exists today. Even when treatment is sought it may be unsuccessful due to lack of information, personal comfort level, accessibility, and time frame for services or treatment challenges.
Join us for a day of learning, raising awareness, and sharing of resources to help us all make healthier and conscious decisions, so that we all can live a life of wellness, recovery and balance.
This event will include; guest speakers, demonstrations, service provider booths, resource sharing, networking, snacks and lunch, laughter & door prizes.
If you would like to represent a service that provides mental wellness and recovery, please do not hesitate to contact Alexandra Bednash to register by October 31, 2018 at:

ZIBI PROJECT continued
Through this multi-phase development, Zibi will
transform the derelict land into a blend of
residential housing types, commercial and office
space, unique waterfront plazas and outdoor
squares, recreational facilities, and more. Truly
one-of-a-kind, Zibi combines unparalleled views of
the Ottawa River, Parliament Hill, and downtown
Ottawa and Gatineau skylines framed by a modern
architectural design that still respects the heritage
of the area. Zibi is where nature, culture, heritage
and the joys of life culminate.
What is the public art opportunity?
This phase of public art at Zibi builds on the
construction that is currently underway on the Quebec
side, with the project’s first public plaza and first
residential and commercial buildings. To honour the
partnerships with Algonquin Anishinabeg communities,
Zibi is seeking to commission Algonquin Anishinabeg
artists to create art installations for the three sites
described below.
PUBLIC ART SITES
1. Place Zibi – South Wall Located adjacent to the Sentier des Voyageurs NCC
pathway, and overlooking the Ottawa River, the
southern wall and steps of Place Zibi provides a blank
canvas for murals, etching or an art installation on the
wall. The wall is divided in 2 sections with a staircase in
the middle. The stairs can also be used for artistic
etchings or additions. During the construction of the
wall, granite was added to the concrete mix, to
accommodate for the potential of sandblasting the wall
to create additional texture and colour, should the artist
wish. Wall dimensions:
Left/West section: 2.55m (tall) x 13.4m (wide) =
34.17m2
Right section: 2.55 m (tall) x 12m (wide) = 30.6m2
Staircase: 8.7m (wide) x 7.3 (deep) with wall varying
from 2.3m to 20cm (tall)

INTRODUCTION
What is Zibi?
Situated on the banks of the Ottawa River, Zibi is a
new community being built in both the City of
Ottawa and the City of Gatineau, something that
has never been done before. In Ottawa, Zibi rests on
the western edge of downtown, consists of both the
Chaudière and Albert Islands and is surrounded by
the Ottawa River. These islands are physically
disconnected from both cities by the river and
present an opportunity to create a unique sense of
place amongst the heritage buildings on both
islands. In Gatineau, the lands are within the
downtown core of the city and provide an
opportunity to extend the city out to the banks of
