People of all ages and from all walks of life are in need of the expertise of a physiotherapist: from aging or recovering patients in need of physical rehabilitation all the way to professional athletes suffering from sports injuries. Fully accredited by the Malaysia Qualifications Agency (MQA), the physiotherapy academic programme enable graduates to pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career that can take them anywhere in the world.

COMPREHENSIVE CLINICAL TRAINING COMPONENTThe course exposes the student to over 1,200 hours of supervised clinical training before graduation. Students will be attached on

a regular basis as part of the course requirements to several partner hospitals that include Hospital Cheras, Hospital Sungai Buloh

and Hospital Ampang in Malaysia where they will have to the opportunity to gain invaluable clinical experience.

INNOVATIVE LEARNING METHODOLOGIESThe programmer incorporates the latest education technologies and methodologies combined with proven education techniques

to ensure that students maximise their learning experience. Key to this innovative learning experience is the innovative Blackboard

BSC (HONS) PHYSIOTHERAPYThis intensive four-year programme combines an extensive practical training element in a clinical environment and a thorough grounding in

the medical and anatomical knowledge necessary to prepare graduates for a career as a physiotherapist. The course enables students to

professionally assess and treat patients with a programme of physiotherapeutic exercises and corresponding treatment along with the skills

needed to identify and correct potential disabilities in patients and their lifestyles before they occur. Students will also be trained in the

critical soft skills necessary for success as a practitioner in public or private practice that include problem solving, organisational abilities,

communication and management skills.

OVERSEAS EXPERIENCE AND SPECIALISATIONIn the final stages of the programme, students may elect to complete their clinical training component in India or the Philippines to

further specialise their area of study. In India, students are exposed and gain further training to Musculoskeletal, Neurology, Pediatric and

Cardio-respiratory cases as well as Intensive Care Unit (ICU) cases. Students electing to complete their clinical training in the Philippines will

have the opportunity to cover Geriatric and Community rehabilitation cases as well as additional emphasis on Sports-oriented physiotherapy.

Final year students will have the opportunity to be attached to Hospital Pantai, Columbia Asia Hospital or partner hospitals in Singapore or

Auckland to gain truly world-class clinical experience. Exceptional students will also be able to gain the opportunity to attend international

conferences overseas and more.

“ I chose INTI because of the campus life which I may not have gotten in other colleges or universities located ‘in the city’. I didn’t want to be commuting to class daily or get stuck in traffic jams for the 4 years of my studies. But what I like most about INTI (NILAI campus) is that everyone knows each other there. It is a friendly campus in which I made many irreplaceable friends. Plus, since it’s literally in a “jungle”, the air there is almost always fresh!

I have always wanted to do something related to sports, as I grew up being very active in sports. A physiotherapist often deals with sports injury, fitness and training. A degree in physiotherapy enables me just that in understanding the biomechanics of each sports and at the same time, the medical and science part of it.

What made me decide to continue to pursue my career is the interaction of self and interaction with patients. The outcome of treatment from the patient is the motivation for me to go further.

Well, I don’t really have a person that give me a huge impact on my professional life but there are two persons (colleague) that inspired me a lot when I am working in Sunway Medical Center. Their name are Choo Khai Shaun (my INTI senior also now one of my colleague) and Lim Wil Son. What they really inspired me is their passion in physiotherapy and how the shine throughout their working life. NEPAL DISAStER RELIEF tRIP 2016Location: NepalA volunteer team of students and staff from the faculty of Traditional Chinese Medicine at INTI International University, Nilai, undertook a journey to Nepal to provide traditional Chinese medicine treatments to the ill and injured in their hour of greatest need. The team visited multiple regions in Nepal, including Kathmandu, Bahrabise, Marming, and Sangachok on their mission of mercy.

WoRLD FooD INNoVAtIoN CHALLENGE 2016Location: SingaporeA delegation from INTI International University, Nilai, participated in the World Innovation Challenge 2016 which saw teams developing innovative solutions to boost regional food security. The teams worked hard to understand and solve high-level challenges in the fields of agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries. The INTI team competed at a regional level against a host of competitors across Southeast Asia including Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar and Thailand.

LAuREAtE AWARD FoR EXCELLENCE IN RobotIC ENGINEERING CoMPEtItIoN 2016Location: Mexico City, MexicoStudents from INTI International College Penang did both Malaysia and INTI proud when they were named the Second Runner Up in this prestigious robotics engineering competition that was held in Mexico City. Their amazing creation - a robot designed for search and rescue missions - made an impact on the judges amidst stiff competition from competing teams from around the world including Spain and Brazil.

KotA KINAbALu WIDoWS WELFARE CAMPAIGN 2016Location: Kota Kinabalu, SabahStudents from the Diploma in Business course at INTI College Sabah put their education to practical use as they conducted a fundraising campaign for the Kota Kinabalu Widows Welfare Association. The year-long campaign saw students calling on every ounce of business knowhow they had and saw them conducting a host of activities, ultimately meeting their goal and raising sufficient funds for the KKWWA.

The transition from high school to college is a significant change in one’s lifestyle and being away from friends and family in a new and unfamiliar environment can be daunting. For many students, this transition, while exciting, can be tough to cope with.

According to the Ministry of Health, Malaysia, in 2016 alone, one in five Malaysian students suffered from mental health problems. What’s worse, a prolonged state of mental health issues can result in permanent consequences, including schizophrenia, depression, insomnia and ultimately suicidal thoughts. According to the World Health Organization, suicide was the second leading cause of death among individuals aged between 15-29 years old, with a suicide attempt occurring every three seconds.

M- MENtAL(LY)Adjusting to the rigours of college life can be a daunting task. This is on top of potential family, health and relationship problems which may be more than what a student can bear. INTI’s professionally trained team of student counsellors are able to lend a friendly ear and a helping hand through free, professional student counselling in a confident and discreet manner. Students are also exposed to workshops that highlight pressing mental health issues such as recognising and addressing the risks of suicide, identifying depression, ways of combating stress and more.

E - EMotIoNAL(LY)Mental health is but one component to achieving a well-balanced and healthy lifestyle. Emotionally healthy people are able to cope with the challenges that life throws at them and have the ability to establish and maintain healthy social ties with those around them. To avoid feelings of isolation or alienation, INTI assigns a senior student mentor to new students who guide and help them to adjust to academic life. Students can also participate in group counselling sessions to understand the dynamics and nuances of managing relationships and learn to cope with life’s challenges.

To help you adapt to the demands of college life, INTI has developed the MESA PRoGRAMME. Developed by INTI’s team of experienced student counsellors through research in established student counselling methodologies, MESA serves as a bedrock for students throughout their journey at INTI, helping students to excel Mentally, Emotionally, Socially and Academically (MESA).

Learning approach
