    Place the scale horizontally.

    Check to see that scale is balanced bysitting it to the zero, and noting if thebalance registers exactly in the middle ofthe mark.

    Make the patient room warm.

    Remove the infant clothing.

    Put a scale paper on the scale.

    Gently lift the infant from the bed andplace him in the scale basket.

    Adjust the weight to balance thescale by right hand

    Read the scale when infant is lyingstill.
