Phuket is an island blessed with breath-taking views so naturally, it is teaming with natural attractions that never cease to impress visitors. Among these, the heavenly beaches and its clear waters are at the top, so today, we shall visit some of Phuket’s finest- Kata and Karon Beaches.

Eขบรถคนเลกคใจ ไมชาพวกเรากมาถง “หาดกะตะ” คดคำานวณไปมา หาดเงยบๆแตงดงามแหงน อยหางจากตวเมองประมาณ 17 กโลเมตร ระยะทางไมใกล ไมไกล กำาลงพอดๆ

After a few minutes in our cute little car, we reached Kata Beach. This tranquil place is located about 17 kilometers from the city which is neither near nor far.

Pak Pang Road, running parallel to Kata Beach, is shaded by rows of swaying pine trees. At the end of the path, you will see a slope and sign leading to a safe swimming area. The sight of the indigo water alone already filled my heart with incredible elation.

Even though the area is not as exciting as Patong, we were quite content to be swimming and relaxing here in the calm water, on the soft white sand and under the cloudless sky.

Ever since Kata’s beach zone had been rearranged, the whole area looks much tidier. Gone are the huge umbrellas and overcrowded beach chairs that obstructed the beautiful sceneries from view. We felt so happy to be able to walk along the beach again like in our childhood days.

With nice, strong wind, Kata Beach is the ideal place for surfing and sailing. But none of us knew how to surf or sail so we were quite happy to sit back and watch people ride the waves with excitement.

Our next destination was Karon Beach, located just north of Kata. We arrived in only a few minutes; and without wasting time, we climbed out of the car and started the photo-shoot session where we took turns being photographer and model. Of course, the long stretch of beach was the perfect backdrop.

Karon Beach is much wider than Kata but there are no large trees to provide shade from the sun. This does not seem to be a problem, especially for sun-bathers who enjoy the bright sunshine.

The wild sea ‘Morning Glory’, with its purple flowers, swayed to the rhythm of the wind as though waving hello to us. Their presence is as refreshing as the sounds of the waves that rolled in and out of the shore.

It is not easy to find a beach with private atmosphere like this nowadays so we decided to find a nice spot to settle down.

Karon Beach has a nice, quiet and relaxing atmosphere. And for a change, you won’t find beach chairs and big parasols obstructing the nice sandy shoreline.

We spent time relaxing, lying down, reading and just goofing around like children because the atmosphere was so welcoming.

Soon, the sun’s ray began to cool down and before we realized what time it was, the sun was beginning to descend over the horizon. Watching the sunset at Karon Beach was actually another highlight of the day.

Today, we spent only a small amount of money, mostly on snacks and water, but it was amazing how joyful the day was for everyone. To spend time with good friends in a nice beach atmosphere can sometimes be more rewarding than spending lots of money goingshopping. That’s why they say “The best things in life are free”.

At noon, everyone arrived at Phuket’s Ao Por Pier to board the large boat operated by Sea Canoe, Thailand Co., Ltd. We felt very privileged that Mr. Soonthorn, the owner of the company, offered to be our guide for the day. Mr. Soonthorn has been taking his clients to Phang-Nga Bay for 30 years now so we are certain that this is going to be a very interesting trip.

After boarding, we were served a simple yet impressive lunch which consisted of stir-fried noodles, sandwiches, fruits and a variety of nonalcoholic drinks. The atmosphere of the vast ocean and blue sky made the meal an even more joyful occasion.

After lunch, we listened to the briefing of the program that lies ahead. Soon, we will be visiting caves with beautiful hanging lime stones and islands close by. Also, Mr. Soonthorn explained to us the importance of eco tourism and what needs to be done in order to preserve the beauty of nature and the environment.

We sat back and enjoyed the scenic ride, passing by several small islands and the gorgeous panoramic view.

ประมาณ 45 นาทจากภเกต เรอกมาจอดเพอใหพวกเราลงเรอแคนสสนสดใส โดยมนองๆ ไกดทวร Sea Canoe เปนฝพายให เรอลอยละลอง ทองไปทามกลางนำาทะเลสเขยวสวย โดยม “เกาะหอง”เปนจดหมายแรกคะ

Forty five minutes later, we arrived in Phang-Nga Bay and promptly jumped onto brightly colored canoes to explore the area. Each canoe came equipped with a paddler/ tour guide from Sea Canoe and one by one, floated off to the first destination, Hong Island.

Tiny canoes drifted around Hong Island’s inner lagoon and slowly made their way through natural caverns.

After a while, we got back onto the big boat and proceeded to our next destination, Bat Cave. Once again, we hopped back on the canoes and made our ways into the pitch dark cave. The flash lights which the guides brought lit up the interior, exposing walls that were covered with bats. Once we got through to the inside, we were greeted by a lagoon and a herd of monkeys.

Our third destination was Bang Mhud Cave, a cave named after a man named Bang Mhud, who happens to be Mr. Soonthorn, our very own honorary guide for the day.

It was an exciting adventure for us to be here because it was a bit of a challenge getting in. The opening of the cave is very low so during high tide, visitors have to lie flat in their canoes to pass through. Once inside, it opens up to a lagoon with a huge mangrove tree.

During the scenic boat ride, I noticed a flock of sea eagles swooping around the boat in circles. All of a sudden, one of the guides guide started whistling to the eagles, signaling for them to come closer. Once they were close enough, he tossed some food in the air and they caught them all without missing a queue.

ทหมายตอไปคอ “ถำา Mangrove” ทมตนโกงกางใหญนอยมากมายภายในลากน สรางความตนตาตนใจใหกบพวกเราเหลอเกน นบวาเปนอกถำาหนงทมเอกลกษณเฉพาะตว ไมเหมอนใครจรงๆ พอออกจากถำา หลายคนพากนเลนโดดนำา ตมตาม สนกสนาน ชนบานไปตามๆ กน

Next, we headed to the Mangrove Cave where mangrove trees of various sizes grow wild around the lagoon. Some of us decided to dive in for a swim after we came out of the cave as the water was too inviting.

Soon, the sun’s ray began to mellow down and we prepared ourselves for another one of Phuket’s amazing sunsets. You really have to see it for yourselves to realize the magnitude of its beauty.

Back on the big boat again, we were greeted by another impressive spread of dinner like the ones you get in five-star hotels .There were fried chicken, stir-fried chicken and cashew nuts, beef Panaeng, fried sea bass with chili sauce and stir-fried mixed vegetables in oyster sauce; all were cooked to perfection. After dinner, the friendly chef even demonstrated to us the art of water melon carving. Finally, we reached Ao Por safely at 7:30pm.

There are three parts in the Chamber of Secrets, each with its own means of challenge, deception and mystery. To pass through, you must utilize wit and collaboration within the group.

ณ ชนสามแหงปาตองพรอมเมอนาด The Chamber of secrets ทแรกแหงเดยวในประเทศไทย ทพรอมใหคณไดเขามาสมผสและคนหาความลบของหองปรศนาอยางไมคาดคดมากอน

On the third floor of Patong Promenade lies the Chamber of Secrets, the one and only venue in Thailand that lets you experience the excitement of unlocking clues like you’ve never experienced before.

ถงแมวาเราจะไขความลบไดแตกยงมดานใหมๆ ใหพวกเราตองใชความชางสงเกต และความสามคคทจะสามารถเปดประตตางๆ ในหองแหงความลบน เรยกวาจดเตมทง รป รส กลน เสยง และแสง นกๆ แลวเหมอนอยในหนงเรอง อนเดยนาโจนส และ มชชนอมพอสซเบลเลยคะ

And even after we got through one challenge, the next one was right there for us to really focus and synchronize as a team. All senses were put to the test- the taste, smell, hearing and seeing; each step reminding us of a scene from Indiana Jones or Mission Impossible.

วาแลวเรากไปตะลยหอง “วดแหงพระพฆเนศ”กนกอนเลย.. เมอเปดประตเขาไปภายในหองมดสนทมเพยงแสงไฟจากโคม พอมองเหนลางๆ ดานหนามพระพฆเนศองคใหญตงสงาอย รอบๆมรปปน พวกเราตองคนหาปรศนาทซอนไวตามจดตางๆ เพอนำามาไขปญหา หากญแจเพอเปดประตไปยงหองถดไป

Now, we shall visit the first chamber, The Temple of Ganesh. Upon entering, darkness fills the room, which at best was barely lit by a dim lantern. At the front, stands a large statue of Ganesh surrounded by other figurines. We had to solve clues in order to find keys to unlock the door leading to the next room.

The next challenge took us to the second chamber, King Naresuan’s Grave. The eerie atmosphere of scattered Buddha statues and intimidating background music enticed us even further to search for clues.

We arrived at the temple around 5am, which was unusually early but everyone was in good spirit. Excited, we headed right to the foot of the long stairway filled with anticipation of seeing the beautiful sunrise over Krabi.

Because our target destination is a revered place built high up on the mountain, we had to climb all 1,237 flights of stairs to reach the top. Hands held onto the rails while feet moved rapidly up and up.

There are all kinds of postcards and magnets carrying the store’s own design and other items for sale including natural hand-made soap, costume jewelry and many types of interesting handmade products.For us, the postcards were our favorite because the designs were so awesome and unique, and the prices were very reasonable. Besides, postcards are becoming rare in this “E-mail age” which makes them even more precious and meaningful to receive.
