EXPloration of urban space

Personal investigation exploring geometric shapes, texture, color, as well as the juxtaposition of planes. Hong Kong, 2015

Personal essay exploring the movement and rhythm of daily-life in conjested cultures. Hong Kong is fast-paced,

where crowds feels like packed sardines. The city itself is vibrant, rushed and colourful with a predominance of

red. This greatly contrasts with Osaka, which is sedated and calm, amplified by muted colours such as blue and

concrete grey.

Photo essay, a continuous narrative shot in a single role of analog

film using consecutive frames to convey the storyline. Frame by

frame development. Black and white harmonizes and unifies the desperate

environments in which the story unfolds - creating a balance.

EXPloration of TRANQUIL environment

Photo essay, personal investigation on story-telling to evoke a mood or emotion. I was attentive to colour, light, architectural space and atmosphere. A narrative created through shot selection, camera angles and available light.

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, 2015

Panoramic view exploring the heroic sense of nature and the inspiration it provides to men. Referencing the work of the hudson river painters, I tried to evoke the vastness and beauty of nature by juxtaposing the human figure with the grand and lush vegetation that spread before him.

DISPOSABLE FILM - Single use kodak camera

A personal investigation and exploration of early alternative photographic processes allowed me to create artistic images that have a historic feel. By using these processes, a contemporary image aquires a historic feel - the image artificially renders history into an image that essentially has no historic context.

SCHOLASTIC PORTFOLIOAwarded a Gold Key for my portfolio by Scholastic Art and Writing in 2015 validated and encouraged

as an artist. In the body of work, I featured portraits of local people I encounted while parcipating in Rustic Pathways Commnity Service Trip (Peru) and a self-

initiated trip to Tacloban to help out with the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan. In this personal exploration of

portraits, I focused on natural light, colours, framing conventions such as doors and windows to elevate

the human emotion in each photograph.

Ap studio art concentration

Exploration of double exposures, using nature and my surroundings to amplify the feelings of the figures. I paid attention to the juxtaposition of the two images; the placement is used to emphasize specific notions of each image and doubles the visual impact of the texuture. The double exposure enhances the natural contrast of the two images, light versus dark, dense vesus thin and solid versus transparent. Each image attempts to evoke an atmosphere through the visual textures such as the transparency, thorny and ethereal.

Ap studio art BreadthExposure to a wide variety of tools,

techniques and art materials allowed me to expand my knowledge and

understanding as a visual artist. Broadening my voice as an artist

through the use of a greater diversity of image-making media such as the Lino Bloc to the right, and the experiment on

typography on the far right.

38th parallel northTaken at an observation post near the border between South and North Korea while on a community service trip. This image uses black and white contrast, rhythm, and repetition to convey a long, bleak tension that is palphable in the location. The image provokes thoughts of the passive-aggressive political conflict that divides the two Koreas.
