With the campus of the University of St. Gallen undergoing a number of changes

for the symposium, the construction work had to be taken up early. After the initial

preparations, which already began in early April, the awnings could be put into place

one after the other, creating a spacious piazza between the Auditorium and the

Main Building.

On the following pages you can see how the foundation for the piazza is being laid.

Fixed between the Main Building and the Auditorium, the awnings create the special atmosphere of the piazza.

Setting up the awnings brings with it a massive construction site.

From the ISC Lounge, one cannot only spot the Swiss Alps with Mount Säntis in particular...

...but the view also expands towards Austria and Germany with LakeConstance in between.

With three out of four awnings in place, the piazza is almost covered.

It is around the pole supporting the third awning, that the coffee bar is goingto be set up.

During the time of the symposium, the appearance of the campus is heavily marked by the symposium’s awnings.
