What is the Phoenix

• The Phoenix is a legendary bird that is half Eagle and half Pheasant

• The name Phoenix comes from the Greek word meaning Purple

• It is described as golden or multi-coloured

How can the Phoenix die?

• It can only be killed in a fire but it can be reborn from the ashes so a Phoenix can actually live forever

• Every 300 to 500 years the Phoenix needs to be renewed by using fire.

What does the Phoenix symbolise?

• The phoenix bird symbolizes immortality, resurrection and life after death. In ancient Greek and Egyptian mythology, it is associated with the sun god.

How many Phoenixes live at one time?

• There is only one Phoenix that can live at one time. When the bird felt its death was near, every 500 to 1,461 years, it would build a nest of aromatic wood and set it on fire. The bird then was consumed by the flames.
