Flight O F T H E Phoenix GOLF OUTING Monday, May 4, 2020 Join Us! Please join PFP ‘Flight of the Phoenix’ Golf Outing for 18 holes, contests, lunch, cocktails and scrumptious hors d’oeuvres at Radnor Valley Country Club, 555 Sproul Road, Villanova, PA 19085, on Monday, May 4, 2020. Funds generated from this premier event will be used to support Philadelphia Flying Phoenix Dragon Boat Association, (PFP) a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Membership dues cover most of our operating expenses but we count on our bi-annual fundraiser to offset the many costs involved with maintaining and running a premier non-profit dragon boat team. The Philadelphia Flying Phoenix Dragon Boat Team (PFP) is a 120+ member dragon boat association. We are a diverse and cohesive group of women who practice and compete in dragon boat races locally, nationally, and internationally. We are dedicated to empowering women, improving women’s health, fitness and supporting breast cancer survivors. Founded in 2001, PFP’s breast cancer survivor crew, Against the Wind, was the first breast cancer survivor dragon boat crew on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. PFP crews include: Premier; Against The Wind (ATW – Breast Cancer Survivors); Senior A (40+ years); Senior B (50+ years); Golden Warriors (60+ years); Fire (all inclusive), Sparks (girls 12 and over) and Outrigger Canoe Racing. In addition, we coach Power Over Cancer, a co-ed all cancer and supporters team. PFP is not just an athletic team. It is an organization dedicated to the Philadelphia community. Through outreach programs, PFP’s impact extends to economically disadvantaged youth paddlers with our Healthy Dragons team– a co-ed middle school youth program. During our winter season, we volunteer at Share and Ronald McDonald House locations at St. Christopher’s and CHOP. We have a proud tradition of sportsmanship and success. Crews have competed on the national scene, as well as in Australia, Canada and Europe. Team members have represented the USA on the elite Women’s Team USA. In addition to being winners on the water, PFP/ATW members are accomplished committed women of the community. Our members make paddling a part of their lives, while being active as business and medical professionals, teachers, entrepreneurs, lawyers, students, moms, volunteers and retirees.
