This Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles take on their NFC East rivals, the Washington Redskins, in what is the most highly anticipated game of the year. The game has a heightened sense of importance not only because the Eagles will be facing a divisional opponent, but also because it marks the return of Donovan McNabb to Lincoln Financial Field. McNabb’s homecoming is sure to be bittersweet. He’ll be playing in the very building that he helped open in 2003, in front of the same fans who have cheered his name since 1999, and most importantly, against the team that he was such a large part of for over a decade. For the first time in Donovan McNabb’s life, the city of Philadelphia should be considered enemy territory. To say that Donovan McNabb made his mark as a member of the Eagles would be an understatement. His name can be found all over the team’s record books. He is the Eagles’ franchise leader in career passing yards (32,873), touchdowns (216), completions (2,801), and completion percentage (59.0%). McNabb also holds single game records for passing yards (464) and completions (35). But this Sunday, the record books go out the window, and the Eagles will treat McNabb like any other visiting quarterback. Aside from all of the “return of Donovan” hype that is sure to surround Sunday’s contest, the game itself has huge implications for the Eagles’ season outlook, While it’s still early in the year, divisional games are always important. A big win over a division rival can put the Birds in the driver seat for the playoffs while a tough loss can make the playoff picture much bleaker. So here’s hoping that the Eagles come out on top. The NFL and the Philadelphia Eagles are working hard to “Tackle Breast Cancer!”. Throughout the month of October, you will notice a little something extra on the sideline - the color pink. From coaches’ hats to pink coins used for the coin toss to players cleats and wristbands, pink is everywhere! Fans can do their part by purchasing one of the many “pink” items available. This year, our top items include a pink tie embellished with pink Eagles logos for only $20 and the Eagles Coaches hat with some pink accents for $25. A few items available just for women are the Tackling Breast Cancer scarf for $30, a pink track jacket for $65, and a short sleeve Tackling Breast Cancer t-shirt for $28. One other item available for purchase to support this worthy cause can be found on the field: pink wristbands. They are only $8 and they are just like the ones worn by the players! For each “pink” purchase, a donation will be made to Jefferson Hospital to assist in the completion of the Jefferson Breast Care Center building in Philadelphia. All “pink” items are available at the Philadelphia Eagles Pro Shop as well as Philadelphiaeagles.com. We thank you in advance for helping us Tackle Breast Cancer!

After the opener (my son’s FIRST regular season game!) we got
separated when he had to use the men’s room. When calling
for him, a guard asked if I was looking for someone. When I
described my son, he said, “Don’t worry, we got him.” We
were quickly reunited. So my highest compliments for their
efficiency and how they calmed and 11 year old who was
upset about losing his dad in a big crowd. SO the highest
compliments to the security staff on the upper concourse by
the elevator near section 220. Sure some fans get out of hand,
but this was a case of security doing exactly what was
needed avoiding a potentially serious and dangerous event.
Thanks!
They say the true test of mankind is how well you react in the face of adversity. On October 3, 1993 the Eagles could not have stood up any better. If falling behind 21-0 to the New York Jets in the cold rain and swirling winds of the Meadowlands wasn't bad enough, season ending injuries to our 2 top offensive stars in Randall Cunningham and Fred Barnett seemed like the final nail in the coffin.
Sometimes a new hero emerges. Up stepped Journeyman Quarterback Bubby Brister to guide the offense to 28 points while throwing 2 touchdown passes. On Defense on perhaps the play of the year, late in the game Cornerback Eric Allen picked off a Boomer Esiason pass deep in his own territory and raced 94 yards for a touchdown capping off an incredible 35-30 come from behind Victory.

STARTING LINE-UP (Serving Size)
This recipe will serve four—six (4-6) of
the most ravenous fans in the NFL!
KEY PLAYERS (Ingredients)
Hummus
3 small cans of fresh chick peas 2 fresh garlic cloves (minced) 2 oz. tahaini paste 10.5 oz olive oil To taste salt & black pepper 6 each lemons 10.5 oz. cold water 10 roasted red peppers 1 bunch cilantro 1 Pack of pitas Roasted Red Peppers
10 each red peppers 2 oz. olive oil Salt & pepper to taste
1 garlic clove (smashed)
PLAYBOOK (Recipe)
1.) Take the peppers and toss in olive oil,
smashed garlic, salt and pepper and place on a
sheet pan. Put them in a pre-heated 400
degree oven and allow the peppers to roast for
15-20 minutes.
2.) Remove the peppers from the oven and
wrap them in plastic wrap, this will allow the
steam to make the skins of the peppers peel
off easier.
3.) While the peppers are cooling at room
temperature, drain and rinse the chick peas.
4.) Then puree the chick peas with a blender
and add minced garlic, tahaini paste and lemon
juice.
5.) Slowly add the olive oil, and then add the
water just to thin out the consistency, so it’s
not too stiff.
6.) Adjust the hummus with salt and pepper.
7.) Now take the room temperature roasted
peppers and peel of the skins and clean the
inside to remove all seeds. Once this is done
add the peppers to the blender with the
hummus mixture, and blend until smooth.
8.) Pick the leaves off the cilantro and gently
rinse them to wash off any particles. Then
finely chop the cilantro.
9.) Take the pita and lightly brush it with
olive oil and salt and toast it in a pan. Then
cut the pita into 8 pieces.
10.) Place the red pepper hummus into a bowl
and garnish it with the chopped cilantro.
11.) Enjoy!
