1 Thông tin quan tr ng

1.1 Cách s d ng Hư ng d n v n hành

1.1.1 Nh n d ng

Tài li u có th xác nh n b i các thông tin trên trang tiêu đ và trên nhãn, n u có :

– Phiên b n tài li u k thu t

– Mã linh ki n c a tài li u k thu t

Nh n d ng trang Ví d : Nh n d ng trang 1-3, có nghĩa là Chương 1, trang 3.

T m quan tr ngc a các ch d n

Các Hư ng D n V n Hành này là m t ph n c a các tài li u kèm theo và là m t ph n thi t y u c a CompoSeal Slim. Chúng bao g m thông tin c n thi t đ s d ng CompoSeal Slim.

1.2 T m quan tr ng c a phòng ng a an toàn

Gi i thích các bi u tư ng:

1.3 Mô t ng n

1.3.1 Ghi chú chung

CompoSeal Slim cung c p m t đ u ra RF th hai cho tùy ch n k t n i tay hàn c m tay. Tay hàn c m tay có th s d ng đ hàn các ng dây y tế có đư ng kính ngoài t 3,2 mm t i 4,6 mm; đ dày không quá 0,75mm.

Máy hàn CompoSeal Slim có th d dàng c u hình x p t ng v i chi u dài m i đo n 60 mm. Thi t b t đ ng phát hi n c u hình x p t ng và đư c thi t k đ đ y áp su t trong ng dây v phía túi. Trong c u hình x p t ng, m t tín hi u LED t đ ng thông báo cho ngư i dùng hư ng đúng c a túi máu. C u hình x p t ng đơn gi n và th ng hàng, không c n dây ngu n và tín hi u m u. Đ ng t k t n i m t thi t b kh i dãy, đơn gi n ch c n t t thi t b đó: các m i hàn trong dãy v n ho t đ ng bình thư ng. Th m chí có th t t t t c các thi t b trong dãy và làm vi c v i m t máy hàn duy nh t mà không c n tháo b t k dây cáp nào

1.3.2 Ch c năng chính c a Fresenius CompoSeal Slim

1.4.1. Mô tả sản phẩm

CompoSeal Slim là máy hàn dây để bàn hàng đầu dùng cho ống nhựa PVC dùng trong

y tế có đường kính ngoài từ 2,7 mm đến 5,9 mm (ví dụ, ống túi máu). Nó có tính năng

đặc trưng, hệ thống định vị ống được cấp bằng sáng chế của Liên minh Châu Âu tích

hợp tấm chắn tia phun.

Phát hiện quang học của ống bắt đầu kẹp tự động và hàn tần số vô tuyến (RF). Một

công tắc chân chuyên dụng, tùy chọn có thể được được kết nối để bắt đầu quy trình

niêm phong theo cách thủ công thay vì tùy chọn tự động.

CompoSeal Slim được trang bị đầu ra RF thứ cấp, nơi có thể kết nối máy hàn tay tùy

chọn.

Thiết bị và phụ kiện được thiết kế để sử dụng trong ngân hàng máu và các môi

trường truyền máu. Thiết bị không được sử dụng để hàn ống dây đang được

kết nối người hiến hoặc bệnh nhân bằng kim hoặc bất kỳ kết nối nào khác. Khi

kết nối máy hàn tay tùy chọn với CompoSeal Slim, không được sử dụng máy

hàn tay để hàn ống được kết nối người hiến hoặc bệnh nhân bằng kim hoặc bất

kỳ kết nối nào khác.

Máy hàn dây CompoSeal Slim có thể dễ dàng cấu hình xếp tầng với chiều dài mỗi

đoạn 60 mm. Thiết bị tự động phá hiện cấu hình xếp tầng và được thiết kế để đẩy áp

suất trong ống dây về phía túi. Trong cấu hình xếp tầng, một tín hiệu LED tự động

thông báo cho người dùng hướng đúng của túi máu. Cấu hình xếp tầng đơn giản và

thẳng hàng, không cần phích cắm giả hoặc cáp giả. Để ngắt kết nối một thiết bị khỏi

dãy, đơn giản chỉ cần tắt thiết bị đó: các mối hàn trong dãy vẫn hoạt động bình thường.

Thậm chí có thể tất cả các thiết bị trong dãy và làm việc với một máy hàn duy nhất mà

không cần tháo bất kỳ dây cáp nào.

Thiết bị được thiết kế cho công suất trung bình và lớn.

CompoSeal Slim được thiết kế để sử dụng trong ngân hàng máu và các môi trường

truyền máu như bệnh viện, các cơ sở thu nhận và xử lý máu hoặc các cơ sở chăm

sóc sức khỏe khác.

CompoSeal Slim phải được sử dụng bởi những người vận hành, kỹ thuật viên, cơ sở

cung cấp chăm sóc sức khỏe hoặc nhân viên dịch vụ kỹ thuật trong các cơ sở đề cập

ở trên.

Thiết bị phải được sử dụng bởi những người vận hành có đủ trình độ là người có

những hiểu biết cơ bản về hàn dây và quản lý máu, các thành phần máu.

Các chức năng chính của CompoSeal Slim:

- Hệ thống định vị ống dây tiên tiến độc đáo được thích hợp trong nắp.

- Tích hợp bảo vệ chống tia lửa điện trong hệ thống định vị ống dây.

- Phá hiện ống dây bằng cảm biến quang.

- Tự động điều chỉnh thời gian hàn theo thông số kỹ thuật ống dây.

- Hàn nhanh chỉ trong 2 giây theo kích thước ống dây chuẩn.

- Thiết kế trượt vào trong, tải trọng hàng đầu để đặt ống dây dễ dàng.

- Đầu ra RF thứ hai cho tùy chọn kết nối tay hàn cầm tay.

- Cảnh báo quang và âm thanh khi độ ẩm cao và bẩn trong điện cực.

- Kết nối USB.

- Tháo nắp vệ sinh dễ dàng với tự động phát hiện loại bỏ nắp.

- Các cảnh báo tín hiệu âm thanh và ánh sáng nhiều màu hỗ trợ cho hàn dây.

- Các ký hiệu quốc tế và tiêu chuẩn hóa trên bảng điều khiển.

- Bảng điều khiển chính được thiết kế giúp người dùng trực quan và dễ dàng đặt dây

hơn.

- Làm việc với nguồn 1 pha và dải điện áp rộng: 100-240 VAC 50-60 Hz.

CompoSeal Slim có th b h ng n u ngư i v n hành không tính t i các bi n pháp phòng ng a sau:

– CompoSeal Slim là thi t b công ngh cao và tinh vi. Tránh tácđ ng vô tình và x lý m t cách c n th n.

– Ch s d ng ph ki n và v t tư thay th chính hãng. Vi c sd ng lo i cáp không đư c ch đ nh trong hư ng d n này có thlàm gi m kh năng tương thích đi n t , có th làm h ngCompoSeal Slim và các thi t b chung quanh.

– Đ duy trì hi u năng c a CompoSeal Slim, c n tuân t các quytrình v sinh hàng này và hàng tu n. Ngoài ra, nên b o trì thi t bít nh t m i năm m t l n b i nhân viên đư c đào t i và y quy n.

– Không nên đ t CompoSeal Slim liên k ho c x p ch ng lên nhauv i các thi t b khác ngoài máy hàn CompoSeal Slimvà các phki n chuyên d ng.Đ m b o r ng các ph ki n chuyên d ng đư c c u hìnhđúng cho ho t đ ng c a CompoSeal Slim đư c cài đ t.

1.10 Lo i tr trách nhi m

CompoSeal Slim đã đư c th nghi m và phát hành đ s d ng vơi các v t tư, các thi t b đa năng và ph ki n đư c li t kê trong Hư ng d n v n hành này.

N u ngư i s d ng và các t ch c có trách nhi m có nhu c u s d ng các v t tư, các thi t b đa năng và ph ki n khác v i trong Hư ng d n v n hành, t ch c có trách nhi m có nhi m v ki m tra s phù h p, VD : thu nh n thông tin t nhà s n xu t.

Ngư i v n hành ho c các t ch c có trách nhi m, có trách nhi m đ m b o các thi t b ho t đ ng đúng m c đích.

Nhà s n xu t không ch u b t k trách nhi m và nghĩa v pháp lý nào đ i v i thương tích cá nhân ho c thi t h i khác c a CompoSeal Slim do s d ng các v t tư, thi t b đa năng và ph ki n không đư c phê duy t ho c không phù h p.

1.14 Báo cáo các sự kiện bất lợi

Mọi sự cố nghiêm trọng xảy ra liên quan đến thiết bị phải được báo cáo cho

nhà sản xuất và Cơ quan có thẩm quyền của Quốc gia thành viên nơi người

dùng được thành lập. Báo cáo ít nhất phải bao gồm tên của thiết bị, mã sản

phẩm, số sê-ri, mã UDI, ngày xảy ra sự cố và mô tả sự cố.

3.1 Mâ ki n CompoSeal Slim

Fresenius Kabi khuy n cáo nên b o qu n bao bì g c, trong trư ng h p s n ph m c n đư c v n chuy n hay di chuy n trong tương lai.

3.1.1 N¥i đ t CompoSeal Slim

Khi ch n nơi đ t thi t b , đi u quan tr ng là c n tuân th các đi u ki n v môi trư ng v n hành đã đư c đưa ra trong hư ng d n này.

3.1.2 L p ráp n p đÒnh hư ng dây

Đ tránh hư h i trong quá trình v n chuy n và lưu tr , CompoSeal Slim và n p đ nh hư ng dây đư c tháo r i và b o v riêng trong h p.

Chú ý

Hai chân này cho phép thi t b phát hi n n p. N u phá v chúng, thi t b s không th phát hi n n p và do đó không th hàn kín.

3.2 B t CompoSeal Slim

Công t c ngu n đ t phía sau thi t b để tránh vô tình tắt máy (xem Hình 2, m c 1).

Có th theo dõi tr ng thái thi t b trên b ng m t phía trư c. Đèn LED trên màu xanh (xem Hình 1, M c 1) khi thi t b đư c B T.

(Trong quá trình kh i đ ng, t t c đèn LED phía trư c đ u B T, các đèn LED tr ng thái (Xem Hình 1, M c 4) B T TR NG)

Thử nghiệm điện (theo IEC 60601 hoặc 62353) của thiết bị được khuyến cáo sau khi lắp đặt, trước khi đưa thiết bị vào sử dụng để xem xét rằng thiết bị có thể đã bị một số thiệt hại trong quá trình chuyên chở.

Chú ý

Thi t b có trang b c ng USB , nhưng nó ch s d ng cho m c đíchcài đ t và b o trì thi t bÒ. Ch ngư i đư c đào t o và c p phép (b i Fresenius Kabi) m i có th tháo r i b ng b o v b ng tô vít (xem chương ch đ nh và Hư ng d n k thu t đ bi t thêm chi ti t).

Thi t b ph i luôn ho t đ ng v i c ng USB có g n t m b o v . Không đư c tháo r i nó.

Khi thi t b không đư c ho t đ ng trong th i gian dài ho c c n đư c lưu tr vì b t c lý do nào khác, c n đ t thi t b v trí phù h p và b o v thi t b kh i nhi m b n do các tác nhân bên ngoài, bao g m b i b n. Luôn gi bao bì g c cho m c đích này.

3.2.1 Thay th dây c p ngu n tháo r i, trong trư ng h p có v n đ

Vui lòng làm theo hư ng d n trong các chương sau đ th c hi n c u hình m t cách chính xác và an toàn.

4.1 K t nÓi / Ng t k t nÓi c¥ h c trong c u hình x p t ng

– Tháo t m phía dư i thi t b (s d ng cây l c 2.5 ), xoay và c đ nhnó v trí vuông góc đ có th k t n i cơ h c x p t ng.

– Sau đó, đ t thi t b c nh m t thi t b CompoSeal Slim khác và xácđ nh kho ng cách phân đo n c n thi t.Kho ng cách t i thi u khi đ t các thi t b càng g n nhau, kho ngcách t i đa là 120mm (4.72”).

– B t đ u v i máy n m cu i trong dãy. Nh c thi t b lên m t cáchnh nhàng đ b k t n i cơ h c c a máy v i thi t b phía trư c nó.

– Khi đã tháo thi t b ra kh i dãy, khôi ph c v trí t m k t n i v v tríban đ u b ng cách tháo vít, xoay t m k t n i và ch t l i.

4.1.1 K t nÓi tín hi u trong c u hình x p t ng

M i thi t b có k t n i IN và OUT phía sau máy (Xem Hình 2, M c 5 và 7).

CompoSeal Slim ch có th k t n i v i thi t b CompoSeal Slim khác. KKKhhhông k t n i b t k thi t b nào khác ngoài CompoSeal Slim đ tránh hư h i. Ch dùng cáp ngu n và tín hi u chính hãng.

– S d ng d ng c (xxxxxx) đ tháo t m b o v .

Ch c ch n ràng c t gi dây k t n i gi nơi an toàn và c m l i khi ng t k t n i kh i dãy.

Đ t o c u hình x p t ng, k t n i c ng OUT (xem Hình. 2, m c 7) c a thi t b này v i c ng IN (xem Hình. 2, m c 5) c a thi t b k ti p. Ch s d ng cáp chính hãng khi t o c u hình này (xem ph n Các ph ki n tùy ch n trong Hư ng d n này).

Thi t b cu i cùng trong dãy là thi t b duy nh t có c ng OUT không đư c k t n i. Thi t b đ u tiên trong dãy là thi t b duy nh t có c ng IN không đư c k t n i (tr khi sư d ng thêm công t c chân, trong trư ng h p này, thi t b đ u tiên trong dãy s k t n i v i công t c chân qua c ng IN).

Trong các ví d trong b ng, thi t b có c ng IN không k t n i là thi t b đ u tiên, trong khi thi t b có c ng OUT không k t n i là thi t b cu i cùng.

Khi k t n i dãy k t n i, ph i tuân theo các c nh báo v ngu n đi n đư c đưa ra trong Hư ng d n này.

C u hình x p t ng s th c hi n m t chu i hàn b t đ u t thi t b đ u tiên t i thi t b cu i cùng. Vi c này ngăn ch n áp l c trong dây tăng b ng cách đ y d n áp l c v phía túi ch a. Thi t b cu i trong dãy s t đ ng phát hi n tr ng thái và đèn LED tr ng thái c a nó (xem Hình. 1, m c 4) s sáng màu xanh. Đi u này giúp ngư i v n hành phát hi n phía túi ch a trong dãy.

4.1.2 K t nÓi ngu n trong c u hình x p t ng

4.2 K t nÓi ph ki n tay hàn c m tay

CompoSeal Slim cho phép b n th c hi n hàn bàng tay hàn c m tay ti n d ng, đư c bán dư i d ng tùy ch n. Đ hàn b ng máy hàn tay, ph i k t n i nó v i thi t b chính thông qua cáp chuyên d ng.

K t n i m t đ u cáp c a dây RF AUX (BNC) v i k t n i phía sau máy CompoSeal Slim. K t n i đ u còn l i (cáp đư c cung c p v i tay hàn) vào k t n i trên tay hàn (xem Hình. 10).

Tay hàn th đ ng. Khi tác đ ng m t l c đ l n vào tay hàn, cơ ch hàn s đư c kích ho t, quá trình hàn s đư c tiên hành.

M i hàn có m t đư ng phân cách gi a giúp tách m i hàn d dàng hơn.

Báo đ ng Tay hàn c m tay có c nh b o tích h p, c nh báo s đư c phát ra khi x y ra tia l a đi n. L i có th x y ra khi ng dây b m ho c m i hàn b rò. Báo đ ng c nh báo ngư i dùng nên hàn l i ng dây.

Chú ý

H th ng hàn CompoSeal Slim không đư c thi t k cho hàn v i công su t cao. Do đó, vui lòng không th c hi n quá nhi u m i hàn trong th i gian ng n, (t i đa 10 m i/phút). Nên đ vài giây làm ngu i gi a hai m i hàn.

4.3 K t nÓi c a ph ki n công t c chân

Ph ki n công t c chân ph i đư c k t n i v i đ u n i IN có s n m t sau c a CompoSeal Slim.

Trư c khi k t n i công t c chân, b n c n tháo t m nh a b o v các c ng (xem chương K t n i tín hi u trong c u hình x p t ng).

Khi thi t b đư c l p đ t l n đ u tiên, hai đ u n i cách ly gi đư c c m vào các c ng vào / ra đ ngăn b t k ti p xúc bên ngoài. Khi k t n i nhi u thi t b trong c u hình x p t ng, hãy tháo t m b o v (xem Hình 13), rút đ u n i gi và c m dây tín hi u đư c cung c p (tùy ch n).

5 V n hành

5.1 Cách s d ng CompoSeal Slim

5.1.1 Hàn v i CompoSeal Slim

Khi b t thi t b (xem chương B t CompoSeal Slim), thi t b đã s n sàng đ s d ng.

Quá trình hàn ch b t đ u khi c m bi n quang phát hi n ng dây.N u công t c chân đư c k t n i, thi t b s đ i l nh th c hi n t ngư i s d ng, n u không thi t b s không t đ ng th c hi n.

5.1.1.1 S d ng h thÓng đÒnh hư ng Óng dây

CompoSeal Slim đư c thi t k đ tránh ngư i s d ng đ t ng dây đúng v trí, tránh sai sót có th x y ra ho c hư h ng ng. Thi t này s h u m t “h th ng đ nh hư ng ng dây”, g m 3 ph n: – M t n p trong su t cho phép ngư i dùng theo dõi toàn b quá trìnhhàn.– M t b ph n đ ng đ nh hư ng ng và đ m b o ng dây gi a haiđ u hàn.– M t m t cong phía trư c cho phép ng dây có th trư t vào,đưa dây tr c ti p t i b ph n đ ng.

Đ h th ng đ nh hư ng ho t đ ng chính xác, gi ch c ng dây b ng c 2 tay, đ t nó trên m t cong phía trư c và trư t vào m t cách t nhiên, tác đ ng m t l c nh đ đưa qua b ph n đ ng và gi ng dây như hình nh mô t phía dư i.

Khi quy trình hàn k t thúc và không x y ra l i, ng dây có th kéo ra. Khi th c hi n, hãy kéo nh ng dây, b ph n đ ng s tr l i đúng v trí (xem Hình 15).

Trư c khi th c hi n m i hàn m i, vui lòng ki m tra đèn LED tr ng thái đã t t và b ph n đ ng có đúng v trí hay không. N u không, vui lòng khôi ph c b ng cách đ y hai ch t nh trong n p (xem Hình 16).

5.1.1.2 Sau khi hàn

Thi t b t đ ng đi u ch nh th i gian hàn ph thu c vào đ c tính ng dây. Cu i quá trình hàn, đèn LED tr ng thái sáng xanh cho t i khi ng dây đư c l y ra kh i n p. Trong trư ng h p tràn d ch, đèn LED tr ng thái s chuy n màu cam, đèn LED tia l a đi n (xem Hình 1, m c 3) s nháy đ , và s phát m t âm thanh c nh báo.

Sau m t th i gian s d ng, CompoSeal Slim có th m lên và qu t phía sau s b t đ u ch y. Vi c s d ng liên t c có th gây quá nhi t, đèn LED quá nhi t (xem Hình 1, m c 2) s sáng cam cho t i khi h t quá nhi t. Đèn LED quá nhi t sáng, thi t b s không th th c hi n m i hàn.

5.1.1.3 Th n tr ng khi s d ng

Vi c s d ng CompoSeal Slim là an toàn. Tuy nhiên,s n ph m có th gây tác d ng không mong mu n n u không s d ng không đúng cách. Đ tránh vi c này, khuy n cáo c n đ c k ph n này và làm theo hư ng d n này:– Không đư c kéo ho c di chuy n ng trong khi hàn, n u tác đ nglên ng trong quá trình hàn, có th gây v ng dây và rò r d ch.– Không đư c s d ng CompoSeal Slim trên ng dây v n đang k t

n i v i tay ngư i hi n. M c dù kh năng nh , tuy nhiên v n có th có dòng đi n c m ng qua ng. Do đó, luôn l y kim ra kh i ngư i hi n/b nh nhân sai đó m i hàn ng dây.

– Không ch m vào các đi n c c trong khi hàn. Th i gian gia tăngnăng lư ng treen máy hàn ch vài mili giây, nhi t đ gi a các đi nc c r t cao và có th làm b ng ngón tay.

– Không đ t v t th kim lo i hay b t k v t th nào khác vào gi a2 đi n c c. Đi u này có th gây b ng cho ngư i s d ng ho chư h i thi t b .

– Không đư c nhúng thi t b ho c các thành ph n c a nó vào b t kdung d ch nào. Đ v sinh, vui òng xem ph n B o dư ng và s ach a

– N u s d ng máy hàn tay, không đư c s d ng cáp đ ng tr c vàmáy hàn khác v i thi t b chính hãng. Vi c s d ng b t k tay cápho c máy hàn nào khác không đư c xác th c b i Fresenius Kabiđ s d ng trên máy hàn có th t o ra thi t h i nghiêm tr ng choh th ng và gây h i cho ngư i s d ng.

– N u các đi n c c b ư t ho c b n, tia l a đi n có th b t o ragi a các đi n c c. Do đó, càn làm s ch và làm khô các đi n c cthư ng xuyên.

– Không s d ng b t c v t li u làm có th làm mài mòn đi n c c;c n th t nh nhàng. Không đư c làm s ch chúng b ng các v tli u gây mài mòn như th y tính, gi y ho c bàn ch i kim lo i.



5.1.2 K t nÓi CompoSeal Slim v i c ng USB

C ng USB (xem Hình 2, m c 4) b ng m t phía sau ch s d ng cho m c đích k thu t và ch n đoán.

Khi B T ngu n, vi c k t nÓi PC v i c ng USB s đ t thi t bÒ âch đ k t n i. Không b t đ u b t kþ quy trình hàn nào trong khik t nÓi theo cách này. Quy trình hàn bÒ h n ch khi thi t b â chđ k t n i v i PC.

Khi T T ngu n, vi c k t nÓi c ng USB v i PC s đ t thi t bÒ âch đ nâng c p.

Vui lòng tham kh o Hư ng d n D ch v c a thi t b đ bi t chi ti t v k t n i USB.

5.2 Cách k t n i nhi u thi t b CompoSeal Slim trong c u hìnhx p t ng

Khi CompoSeal Slim đư c c u hình đúng trong c u hình x p t ng (xem m c Cài đ t/Cài đ t ban đ u), có th th c hi n hàn các đo n

ng m t cách l n lư t.

Đi u quan tr ng là c n bi t trình t hàn đ tránh tăng áp su t trong ng dây. Trình t chính xác c a các m i hàn là ph i hư ng d n v phía túi ch a.

Vì v y, CompoSeal Slim t đ ng phát hi n khi có k t n i x p t ng, và s ch th cho ngư i s d ng hư ng c a túi ch a (bên ph i ho c bên trái) ph thu c vào cài đ t. Thi t b CompoSeal Slim cu i cùng trong dãy s có đèn LED tr ng thái sáng xanh, cho bi t đây là v trí c a túi ch a.

– Chèn ng vào các gi a các đi n c c c a t t c các thi t b đ b tđ u hàn. Khi máy hàn phát hi n ng dây, đèn LED tr ng thái schuy n sang màu xanh lá.

Khi ng dây đư c phát hi n trên t t c các thi t b , trình t hàn b t đ u. N u s d ng công t c chân, trình t hàn ch bát đ u khi có l nh t ngư i s d ng.

B t k thi t b nào cũng có th lo i b trong dãy hàn b ng cách t t thi t b đó. N u c n, ngư i s d ng có th gi k t n i x p t ng nhưng v n hành thi t b m t cách đ c l p.

– Trong trư ng h p này, t t t t c các thi t b khác trong dãy trthi t b dùng đ hàn đ c l p.Lưu ý r ng đèn ch th túi màu xanh trên LED tr ng thái khôngho t đ ng trong trư ng h p này tr khi công tác chân đư c k tn i v i thi t b .

7 Các lÝi và câu h i thư ng g p/ X lý s c

7.1 Câu h i thư ng g p

Máy hàn ho t đ ng như th nào?

CompoSeal Slim s d ng năng lư ng đi n t cao đư c t o ra b i ngu n t n s vô tuy n trong m t khu v c nh đ làm ch y polymer c a ng PVC.

Máy hàn có nh hư ng t i t bào trong ng dây?

Không, mi n là hư ng d n s d ng đư c tôn tr ng. Khi ng dây chèn gi a các đi n c c, ch t l ng bên trong b đ y ra xa, t o ra m t khu v c trung tính nơi ng dây không ch a bát c ch t l ng nào. Năng lư ng đư c t p trung đ làm ch y ng trong khu v c có kích thư c kho ng 2mm này. Th i gian phát ra năng lư ng ng n, ch vài ph n mư i giây. Vì PVC là ch t d n nhi t kém và th i gian phát x RF r t ng n, nên không có kh năng m t lư ng nhi t đáng k s truy n qua khu v c trung tính đ làm hư h i các t bào.

8 B o dư¨ng và v sinh

Vi c b o trì và v sinh CompoSeal Slim khá d dàng. Nói chung, ch c n gi v ngoài và các đi n c c s ch s , và th c hi n ki m tra đ nh k v hi u qu máy hàn đ gi thi t b ho t đ ng t t. Trư c khi v sinh ho c b o trì, luôn t t thi t b và ng t k t n i dây ngu n.

8.1 B o dư¨ng và v sinh đ u hàn đÈ bàn

8.1.1 Tháo h th�ng đ�nh v� �ng dây

Đ u hàn đư c b o v b i m t n p nh a. Chân c đ nh v trí s d ng m t c p nam châm m nh.

Đ tháo n p, hãy làm theo các bư c sau:

– Gi ch c thi t b .

– Đ y nh n p v phía trư c cho t i khi phá v l c t .

– Lưu tr n p v trí an toàn.

N p đư c đ nh v b i 2 chân kh p v i 2 l trên b ng đi u khi n phía trư c. M t trong các chân đó, sau khi n p đư c l p ráp, s kích ho t m t công tác cho phép thi t b phát hi n s hi n di n c a n p. N u n p không đư c phát hi n, thi t b s vô hi u hóa chuy n đ ng k p và do đó không th th c hi n quá trình hàn.

N u thi t b không phát hi n n p, m t đèn LED s c nh báo t i ngư i s d ng (xem Các đèn LED phía trư c)

Chú ý

N u chân nh a kích ho t công t c b h ng, thi t b s không th phát hi n n p và do đó không th s d ng. Hãy c c k c n th n. Trong đi u ki n này, thi t b ch có th hàn thông qua tay hàn c m tay.



8.2 B o dư¨ng và v sinh tay hàn c m tay

L p ráp Ng t k t n i tay hàn v i dây cáp có th tháo r i.

Gi tay hàn v i các hàm hư ng v phía trư c đ l khoang hàn.

Làm s ch khoang hàn và khu v c xung quanh v i bông đư c t m c n.

Làm khô t t c các b m t đã làm s ch b ng m t bông khô khác.

Khi các b m t s ch và khô, thi t b có th s d ng l i. N u không th làm s ch m t cách th a đáng, hãy tháo r i tay hàn đ làm s ch k hơn.

Tháo r i Sau khi b tay hàn đư c tháo r i, các b ph n riêng l có th đư c làm s ch b ng tăm bông t m c n.

8.3 B o dư¨ng hàng tu n

8.3.1 V sinh bên ngoài

– Lau s ch bên ngoài thân máy hàn cũng như thi t b b ng v is ch, đư c làm ư t b ng ch t t y r a ho c ch t kh trùng.

– Đ m b o không làm r t ho c đ b t k ch t l ng nào bên trong.Khhhông bao gi s d ng c n nguyên ch t ho c b t kþ dungmôi m nh nào khác đÈ làm s ch ph n thân s¥n c a máy hàn

– Cu i cùng, lau khô b m t b ng g c ho c v i s ch.

8.3.2 V sinh đi n c c (n u c n)

– S d ng m t mi ng g c s ch th m c n đ lau các đi n c c thư ngxuyên; Ch t b n cũ đ lâu ngày s tr nên r t c ng do tác d ngc a nhi t, khó lo i b sau này mà không làm h ng đi n c c.

8.3.3 Làm s ch các c m bi n quang

H th ng phát hi n ng bao g m hai b ph n như trong hình dư i đây:

8.4 Kh nhi m

Kh nhi m là th t c kh n c p ch tuân theo n u th c s c n thi t, ví d trong trư ng h p ng dây b v .

Đ kh nhi m:

– Ng t k t n i dây ngu n kh i thi t b .

– Các phương pháp b o v thích h p (găng tay, kính, kh u trang, áokhoác phòng thí nghi m...) tháo n p nh a, làm s ch đi n c c vàk p ch s d ng ch t kh trùng thích h p (xem trang trư c). Trongquá trình này, đ c bi t chú ý ngăn ch n b t k ch t l ng nào xâmnh p vào thi t b .

– S d ng mi ng v i th m nư c đ làm s ch thi t b , sau đó lau khôc n th n.

– Sau khi th c hi n quy trình kh nhi m, đ i 30 phút trư c khi sd ng l i CompoSeal Slim đ hơi nư c hoàn toàn bay hơi.

– Cài đ t l i n p nh a và k t n i dây ngu n.

Không s d ng các ch t acetone, trichloroethylene ho c các dung môi m nh khác. Ch t t y tr ng oxy hóa h u h t kim lo ingay c â n ng đ th p, do đó tránh s d ng nó. N u thu�c t ylà c n thi t, luôn r a các b ph n đư c x lý b ng m t mi ng v im.

8.5.3 Thân thi n môi trư ng / Rác th i

CompoSeal Slim đư c làm b ng v t li u ph i đư c x lý làm ch t th i vào cu i vòng đ i c a máy hàn, phù h p v i các quy đ nh có hi u l c và v i hư ng d n c a cơ quan có th m quy n.

Khi trên s n ph m ho c bao bì g n nhãn WEEE - bi u tư ng thùng có bánh xe g ch chéo -, có nghĩa là s n ph m tuân theo Ch th 2012/19/ EU c a Ngh Vi n và H i Đ ng Châu Âu v ch t th i đi n và đi n t (WEEE), theo Ch th 2011/65/EU c a Ngh Vi n và H i Đ ng Châu Âu v viêc h n ch s d ng m t s ch t đ c h i trong thi t b đi n và đi n t , và theo Ch th 2006/66/EC c a Ngh Vi n và Hôi Đ ng Châu Âu v pin, c quy và ch t th i pin, c quy.

Thi t b đi n và đi n t này không th đư c x lý như ch t th i sinh ho t. Thay vào đó, nó ph i đư c x lý riêng bi t v i ch t th i chung c a thành ph và đư c g i riêng cho các cơ s thu gom ch t th i nguy h i đư c ch đ nh b i chính quy n đ a phương có th m quy n.

1 Important information

1.1 How to use the Operating Instructions

1.1.1 Identification

The document can be identified by the following information on the title page and on the labels, if any:

Importance of the instructions

These Operating Instructions are part of the accompanying documents and thus an integral part of the CompoSeal Slim. They include information necessary for the use of the CompoSeal Slim.

The Operating Instructions must be carefully studied before attempting to operate the CompoSeal Slim.

Before the responsible organization may begin operating the CompoSeal Slim, the individual responsible for the operation must have been instructed by the manufacturer on how to use the device and must be thoroughly familiar with the contents of the Operating Instructions.

The CompoSeal Slim may only be operated by individuals certified on the proper operation and handling of the device.



1.2 Significance of the safety precautions

1.3 Brief description

1.3.1 General notes

The CompoSeal Slim is equipped with a secondary RF output where an optional hand sealer can be connected. The optional hand sealer can be used to seal medical grade tubing with an outer diameter between 3.2 mm and 4.6 mm; wall thickness must not exceed 0.75 mm.

The CompoSeal Slim sealer can be easily configured in a cascade configuration down to a 60 mm segmentation pitch. The device is able to autodetect the cascade configuration and it is designed to perform a blood pressure proof clamping sequence towards the bag. In the cascade configuration, an automatic LED signal informs the user of the correct bag side positioning. The cascade connection is simple and linear, with no dummy plugs or false cables. To disconnect one unit from the chain, you simply have to turn off that specific unit: the cascade sealing will still work properly. You can even turn off all the devices in a chain and work with a single sealer without detaching any cable.

The equipment has been designed for medium- and heavy-duty use.

1.3.2 Main features of the Fresenius CompoSeal Slim

The major advantages are as follows:

1.4 Intended purpose

The CompoSeal Slim is intended for sealing medical PVC tubing in blood bag systems or other disposable sets.

1.4.1 Product description

The CompoSeal Slim is a bench top sealer for medical grade PVC tubing with outer diameters measuring from 2.7 mm to 5.9 mm (e.g., blood bag tubing). It features a unique, EU Patented tube positioning system with integrated splash guard.

Optical detection of the tubing initiates the automatic clamping and radio frequency (RF) sealing. An optional, dedicated foot switch can be connected to manually start the sealing procedure instead of the automatic option.

The CompoSeal Slim is equipped with a secondary RF output where an optional hand sealer can be connected.

The device and accessories are designed for use in blood banking and transfusion environments. The device must not be used to seal tubing that is connected to a donor or patient with a needle or any other connection. When connecting the optional hand sealer to the CompoSeal Slim, the hand sealer must not be used to seal tubing that is connected to a donor or patient with a needle or any other connection.



The CompoSeal Slim sealer can be easily configured in a cascade configuration down to a 60 mm segment distance. The device is able to auto-detect the cascade configuration and it is designed to perform a blood pressure proof clamping sequence towards the bag. In the cascade configuration, an automatic LED signal informs the user of the correct position to place the bag. The cascade connection Is simple and linear, with no dummy plugs or false cables. To disconnect one unit from the chain, simply have to turn off that specific unit: the cascade sealing will still work properly. If all devices but one are turned off, the functional device will work as a single bench top sealer without detaching any cables.

The equipment has been designed for medium- and heavy-duty jobs.

The CompoSeal Slim is designed for use in blood banking and transfusion environments in locations such as hospitals, blood bank collections and manufacturing, or other health care facilities.

The CompoSeal Slim must be used by operators, technicians, health care providers or technical services personnel within the afore mentioned facilities.

The device must be used by qualified operators who have a basic knowledge of handling and managing blood and blood components.

1.4.2 Indications/Contraindications

The Fresenius CompoSeal Slim is a stand-alone, desktop sealer that manages sterile sealing procedures of medical grade tubing having an outer diameter from 2.7 mm up to 5.9 mm and features the unique (EU Patented) tube positioning system with an integrated splash guard.

The optical detection of the tube starts the automatic clamping and radio frequency (RF) sealing, however, an optional dedicated foot switch can be connected to start the sealing procedure in place of the automatic option.

The device and accessories are designed for use in blood banking and transfusion environments. The device must not be used to seal tubing that is connected to a donor or patient with a needle or any other connection. When connecting the optional hand sealer to the CompoSeal Slim, the hand sealer must not be used to seal tubing that is connected to a donor or patient with a needle or any other connection.

CompoSeal Slim is used to seal medical grade tubes of the bags used for blood collection.CompoSeal Slim can be used for sealing medical grade tubing having an outer maximum diameter of 5.9 mm.

CompoSeal Slim is not used for the treatment or diagnosis of diseases and it is not used in contact with a patient.

1.5 Duties of the responsible organization

The responsible organization assumes the following responsibilities:– Compliance with the national or local installation, operation, use and

maintenance regulations– Compliance with the accident prevention regulations– Correct and safe condition of the CompoSeal Slim– Permanent availability of the Operating Instructions

1.6 Responsibility of the operator

On the usage of the CompoSeal Slim the related applicable national regulations are to be followed. The usage of the medical product lies within the area of responsibility of the attending physician.

Caution

The CompoSeal Slim has no control function, which guarantees under all circumstances, such as power failure, the quality of the product. It is the responsibility of the user to check the quality of the product, which is produced with the CompoSeal Slim device.



1.7 Responsibility of the manufacturer

The manufacturer's responsibilities regarding safety are valid only when:– Assembly, installation and configuration, possible modifications and

repairs are carried out by personnel who have been trained and/or are authorized by Fresenius Kabi.

– Electrical installation has been done in compliance with the supplied instructions and with local regulations.

– The device is used for its intended purpose and in compliance with that which is included in the user and maintenance manual.

Fresenius Kabi reserves the right to modify its own products, manuals and services at any time without this providing, for any reason, a right to compensation of any kind or degree and without a requirement of prior notice.

All images are provided solely for demonstration and may differ from the product.

1.8 Safety Precautions

General safety precautions

Caution

If the CompoSeal Slim is operated in rooms for medical use, ensure that these rooms comply with the requirements for the operation of electrical installations.

In the event of disturbances caused by electrical interference (e.g. HF surgical instruments, therapeutical short-wave and micro-wave equipment), increase the distance between the system and the source of interference.

The CompoSeal Slim is not intended for use in explosion-hazardous areas.

The CompoSeal Slim is not designed to operate in the presence of flammable mixtures, such as anaesthetics, oxygen, or nitrous oxide.

The use of inflammable hand cleaning agents and disinfectants might lead to explosion hazard.

It is not allowed to undertake the Medical Device any service or preventive maintenance activities during operation of the device.

Caution

Disconnect the power plug before opening the system. Actuating the on/off switch stops operation of the system, but does not disconnect the system from the supply voltage!

Caution

Risk of infection

It is always possible that the processed blood is infectious. It must therefore always be treated as being potentially infected.

Observe the local laws and regulations concerning handling of potentially infectious material.

– Maintain sterile technique throughout all stages of the use.



1.8.1 Warnings for staff safety

The extent of the guarantee is stipulated in the respective sales contracts.

The purchaser's warranty rights are governed by the applicable legal regulations.

Caution

The CompoSeal Slim can be damaged if operators do not take into account the following precautions:

– The CompoSeal Slim is a high-tech device and is therefore very del-icate. Avoid accidental impacts and handle it with care.

– Use only original accessories and spare parts. The use of cables other than those specified in this manual can cause decay of the electromagnetic compatibility, which can damage the CompoSeal Slim and surrounding devices.

– To preserve the CompoSeal Slim's performance, it is necessary to follow the daily and weekly cleaning procedures. In addition, quali-fied and authorized personnel should maintenance the device at least once a year.

– The CompoSeal Slim should not be placed adjacent to or stacked with other devices except other CompoSeal Slim sealers or dedicat-ed accessories. Ensure dedicated accessories are configured to the correct CompoSeal Slim operation in which they will be used.

– The CompoSeal Slim must be kept far from life support, first aid, and IVD devices used for diagnosis.

– The CompoSeal Slim is an easy-to-use device. To ensure the per-formance and in order to work safely, only qualified professionals who have a basic knowledge of the treatment and management of blood and its components should use this device.



1.10 Exclusion of liability

The CompoSeal Slim has been tested and released for use with the consumables, multipurpose devices and accessories listed in these Operating Instructions. Should the operator or the responsible organization intend to use other consumables, multipurpose devices or accessories than those listed in the Operating Instructions, the responsible organization has the mandate to check the suitability e.g. by gathering relevant information from the manufacturer.

The operator or the responsible organization, has the responsibility to ensure the correct functionality of the system.

The applicable regulations must be complied with.

The manufacturer does not assume any responsibility or liability for personal injury or other damage and excludes any warranty for damage to the CompoSeal Slim resulting from the use of non-approved or unsuitable consumables, multipurpose devices or accessories.

1.11 Additional equipment (options)

1.12 Initial start-up

Prior to the initial start-up thoroughly study Chapter Installation / initial start-up.

Caution

Additional equipment connected to medical electrical equipment must comply with the respective IEC or ISO standards (e.g. IEC 60950 for data processing equipment). Furthermore all configurations must com-ply with the requirements for medical electrical equipment (see IEC 60601-1-1 or clause 16 of the 3rd edition of IEC 60601-1, respec-tively). Anybody connecting additional equipment to medical electrical equipment configures a medical system and is therefore responsible that the system complies with the requirements for medical electrical equipment. Attention is drawn to the fact that local laws take priority over the above mentioned requirements. If in doubt, consult the techni-cal service department or your local representative.



1.13 Maintenance and repair

Assembly, extension, adjustment, modification or repair may only be carried out by the manufacturer or persons authorized by the manufacturer.

Perform the maintenance procedures specified in the Technical Manual.

1.14 Adverse events reporting

Any serious incident that has occurred in relation to the device should be reported to the manufacturer and the Competent Authority of the Member State in which the user is established. The report should include at least the name of the device, its product code, the serial number, the UDI code, the date of the incident and the description of the incident.

3 Installation / initial start-up

3.1 CompoSeal Slim unpacking

– Carefully remove the CompoSeal Slim from its packing.

– Check to make sure none of the parts in the packing are damaged.Damaged parts must not be used. Fresenius Kabi should be contacted.

The CompoSeal Slim is equipped with:– Operating Manual (English version)

Power cord will be a separate article number, country specific.

Fresenius Kabi suggests preserving the original packing in case the product needs to be shipped or moved in the future.

3.1.1 Where the CompoSeal Slim should be installed

When selecting the installation area, it is important to observe the environmental operating conditions reported in this manual.

– Place the device on a stable, flat, dry surface. It must be positioned away from areas prone to humidity, direct sunlight, and other heat generation sources (radiators, fan-coils, etc.), as well as away from life support, first aid, and IVD devices used for diagnosis.

– Never place the device on a chair or any other unstable surface.

Caution

Do not modify the device.

Use the dedicated handle on the rear to handle the device.



3.1.2 Assembling the tube positioning system cap

To prevent any possible damage during shipment and storage, the CompoSeal Slim comes with the tube positioning system cap disassembled and protected by its own niche in the box.

Before switching on the device, this cap should be installed.

– To do so, align the two guiding pins on the cap with the holes on the front panel of the device and gently push the part into position. The cap is hold in place through a pair of strong magnets: you do not need to stick it in its place or hear any noise. Do not apply too much force or you may break the pins.

If the device does not detect the cap, a LED will warn the operator (see section LEDs on the front panel).

Note

These two pins allow the device to detect the cap. If you break them, the device will not be able to detect the cap again and thus it will be impos-sible to seal.

Be extremely careful.

Caution

If the pins of the cap break inside the holes, immediately shut down the unit and contact the manufacturer or the technical service centre. Electrical hazard due to contact with radio frequency.

Never try to seal without the cap.



3.2 Switching on the CompoSeal Slim

The power switch and the appliance inlet are located on the rear panel of the device to avoid accidentally switching the device off. (see Fig. 2, item 1).

– To power ON the unit, place the power switch in the (I) position.

– To power OFF the unit, place the power switch in the (0) position.

The front panel allows you to see the status of the device. The top green LED (see Fig. 1, item 1) is lit when the unit is powered ON.

(During initialization all the frontal LED are ON, the STATUS LEDs (see Fig. 1, item 4) is WHITE ON)

Servicing is done by Fresenius Kabi technicians or technicians trained by Fresenius Kabi.

Caution

To avoid the risk of electric shock, this equipment must only be connected to a main power supply with grounding.

An electrical test (according to IEC 60601 or 62353) of the unit is recommended after installation, before putting the device into use considering that the device may have suffered some damage during transport.

Caution – Position the device to easily access the back power switch, the

power supply cable, and the electrical outlet.– If it is necessary to electrically isolate the equipment from the power

source, disconnect the power plug from the electrical socket or disconnect the power connector from the power input inlet on the rear panel of the device.

– Before moving the CompoSeal Slim it is important to power off the device, disconnect the power cord, disconnect any communication cables to other units, and disassemble the mechanical connection to other units (see section Mechanical connection/disconnection of the cascade configuration).

The power cord isolates the device from the electrical source.

Multiple socket-outlet or extension cord shall not be connected to the device.



3.2.1 Replacing the detachable power supply cord, in case of any issue

– Switch off the device using the rear power switch.

– Disconnect the power plug from power socket.

– Disconnect the power connector from the equipment.

– Replace the power cable with a new, original one from the manufacturer.

– Connect the power connector to the power inlet and then connect the power plug to electrical socket.

– Switch on the CompoSeal Slim using the power switch.

To prevent failures in the internal circuits, before plugging the CompoSeal Slim into the power source, please make sure the line voltage corresponds to the values reported in the technical data at the end of this manual.

– Verify that the electrical wiring of the building complies with the local regulations and that the earth ground connection is up to code.

If the electrical conditions of the line are dubious, do not power on the machine; solve the electrical problem first.

– Check that the power switch on the rear of the machine is in the (0), indicating that the power is off.

Note

The device is equipped with a USB port, but this is only used for setup purposes and servicing the unit. Only trained and certified personnel (by Fresenius Kabi) should disassemble the protection panel with a screwdriver (see the dedicate chapter and the Service Manual for further details).

The device must always operate with the USB protection plate in place. Do not remove it.

When the device is not used for a long period of time or it needs to be stored for any other reason, it is important to place it in a suitable loca-tion and protect it from eventual contamination due to external agents, including dust. Always keep the original packaging for this purpose.


Chapter 4: Connection of other units to the CompoSeal Slim

4 Connection of other units to the CompoSeal Slim

Multiple CompoSeal Slim devices can be connected to each other in a cascade configuration to obtain tube segments down to 60 mm in steps of 5 mm. The cascade configuration is achieved by connecting the special communication cables on the back of each device.

Please follow the instructions reported in the following chapters for correct cascade configuration and safe installation.

4.1 Mechanical connection/disconnection of the cascade configuration

– Unscrew the plate under the device (using a 2.5 Allen key), rotate it, and screw it in a perpendicular position to allow the cascade mechanical connection.

– Then, place the device side by side to another CompoSeal Slim and determine the needed segmentation distance. The minimum distance is obtained by putting the devices as close as possible, while the maximum is 120 mm (4.72").

Caution

Do not use other than the original screws! Wrong screws may violate device internal safety distances and may lead to electrical shock or fire hazard!

Caution

Be careful not to chip of the guide pin of the cascade mounting plate!

To remove the mechanical connection between units:

– Start with the last unit in the chain. Gently lift up the device to free it from the mechanical connection to the previous unit

– Once a device is free, you can restore the original plate position by unscrewing it and rotating it back in its original, parallel position. Then screw it back to secure it.

4.1.1 Communication connection of the cascade configuration

Every unit has an IN and an OUT communication port on the rear side (see Fig. 2, item 5 and 7).

CompoSeal Slim can only be connected to other CompoSeal Slim units. Do not connect other devices than CompoSeal Slim to avoid damages. Use only original connection and power cable.

Caution

The input and output communication ports on the back panel are pro-tected from access by a dedicated protecting plate. This plate has al-ways to be mounted on the device.

When the device is first installed two dummy isolating connectors are plugged in the input/output ports to prevent any contact.

When connecting multiple devices in cascade configuration, detach the protection plate (see following picture), extract the dummy connector and insert the provided communication cord (optional).

– Do not use other than the original screws.

– Use the tool (xxxxxx) to remove the protection plate.

Be sure to store the dummy plugs in a safe place and to insert them back if you disconnect a device from the cascade chain.

Once done, it is mandatory to attach the protection plate back again.

The units can be connected in a cascade configuration by simply connecting the communication ports of the devices as described in Table of connection configuration

To build a cascade configuration, connect the OUT port (see Fig. 2, item 7) of one device to the IN port (see Fig. 2, item 5) of the following device. Only build the connection with the original cables (see section Optional accessories in this manual).

The last device in the chain will be the only one with the OUT port unconnected. The first device in the chain is the only one that has the IN port unconnected (unless you are using the optional foot switch, in which case, the first device of the chain is the one with the IN port connected to the foot switch).

In the examples shown in the table, the device with the free IN port is the first of the chain, while the device that has the free OUT port is the last.

Caution

When configuring a device chain, always follow the power consider-ations reported in this manual.

Note

At present the limit is 8 devices to the number of units that can be con-nected in a single chain, as long as the power supply rules are followed as per section Power connection of the cascade configuration.



The cascade configuration performs a sealing sequence that starts from the first unit to the last one. This sequence prevents any increasing pressure of the liquid into the tube by clamping the tube towards the bag. The last device in the chain will automatically detect its status and its Status LED (see Fig. 1, item 4) will light up in blue. This allows the operator to detect the bag side of the chain.

4.1.2 Power connection of the cascade configuration

Any CompoSeal Slim can be powered independently by a proper wall socket or it can be powered by another CompoSeal Slim by simply connecting the output socket of the previous unit to the input socket of the next device by the optional power cable accessory, but it is important to know that no more than two units can be powered by a single power cord. If a higher number of devices are connected in cascade with the same power cord, the enclosure leakage current value could overcome the limit of the IEC60601-1.

See the following table to identify the proper connecting configuration.

Caution

Placing the bag on the wrong side works completely against the sealing sequence: this will cause a quick increase in pressure in the tube and may lead to ruptures and liquid spillage.

Caution

Any operator that connects one CompoSeal Slim to another is configur-ing a ME System.

4.2 Connection of the hand sealer accessory

The CompoSeal Slim allows you to execute sealing‘s with an ergonomic hand sealer, sold as optional. To seal with the hand sealer, it has to be connected to the main device through the dedicated cable.

Connect one end of the cable to the RF AUX (BNC) connector on the back of the CompoSeal Slim. Connect the other end of the cable (cable is supplied with the hand sealer) to the BNC connector on the hand sealer (see Fig. 10).

In order to connect or disconnect the hand sealer, CompoSeal Slim must be turned off.

Use the hand sealer only with the original cable.

Even if RF cables available on the market looks like the original one, please never use them. The commercially available cables might have different behaviors at 40.68 MHz and they can compromise the correct tuning of the system and cause possible damages.

Sealing The tubing to be sealed can easily be placed between the sealing elec-trodes.

Compress the hand sealer. If the pressure exerted is high enough, a cir-cuit is triggered in the hand sealer, thus starting the sealing process.

Indicator The hand sealer is provided with an indicator on its top. The sealing pro-cess is not completed before the indicator has stopped lighting. Make sure not to open the hand sealer jaws before the indicator has stopped lighting.

The seal has a seam which permits separation of the tubing exactly in the center of the seal.

Alarm The hand sealer has a built-in alarm that is sounded in the event of sparking. Errors may occur if the tubing is wet on the outside or when a seal has become leaky. The alarm alerts the operator to re-seal the tub-ing.

Note

Ensure that the tubing is completely between the sealing electrodes.

Note

The CompoSeal Slim sealing system is not designed for extremely high sealing performance. Therefore please make sure not to make too many seals within a short period of time (maximum 10 seals per min-ute). Allow the sealer to cool down for a few seconds between two seal-ing processes.



Warnings

Caution

Never attempt to pull the tubing apart during the sealing process. This would result in:– spillage of the tubing contents– temporary failure of the sealing function or– a hazard to the operator.

Caution

The CompoSeal Slim sealing system uses radio frequency for sealing medical PVC tubing. The normative requirements regarding electro-magnetic compatibility are complied with. We recommend that persons with cardiac pacemakers keep a minimum distance of 2 meters when the device is in operation.

Caution

Do not touch the electrodes of the hand sealer during the sealing pro-cess.

Caution

Never place electrically conductive material in the hand sealer or be-tween the sealing electrodes.

Caution

The CompoSeal Slim and the hand sealer incl. exchangeable cable may never come into direct contact with liquids. Liquids could damage the electronics of these devices or could cause a malfunction. Never im-merse these devices.

Caution

Do not use your own coaxial extension cables. This could result in se-vere malfunctions. An optimum sealing quality can be ensured only when using extension cables by Fresenius Kabi.

Caution

As maloperation or technical defects may lead to leaking seals, the op-erator is obliged to check every seal for tightness.



4.3 Connection of the foot switch command accessory

The foot switch command accessory has to be connected to the connector IN available on the rear side of the CompoSeal Slim.

Before connecting the foot switch, you need to remove the dummy plate which protect the access to the ports (see the chapter Communication connection of the cascade configuration).

If the foot switch is connected to drive a cascade configuration it is important to connect the accessory to the IN port of the first device of the chain.

Caution

The input and output communication ports on the back panel are pro-tected from access by a dedicated protecting plate. This plate has al-ways to be mounted on the device.

Chapter 5: Operation

5 Operation

5.1 How to use the CompoSeal Slim

5.1.1 Sealing with CompoSeal Slim

Once the unit is on (see section Switching on the CompoSeal Slim), the device is ready to seal.

The sealing process can be started only if the optical sensor placed within the cap detects the tube.If the foot switch is connected, the device waits for an operator input, otherwise the sealing process starts automatically.

The Status LED on the front changes color to indicate various statuses (see section How to use the CompoSeal Slim)

5.1.1.1 Using the tube positioning system

CompoSeal Slim is designed to guide the operator to properly position the tube, avoid possible mistakes or tube damages. The device possesses a special “tube positioning system” composed of three parts:– A transparent cap that allows the operator to have the full view of the

whole sealing process– A moving part that guides the tube insertion and ensures a proper

positioning of it between the two electrodes of the clamp– A curved design of the front panel that allows a slide-in motion,

driving the tube directly towards the moving part

To allow the tube positioning system to work properly, hold the tube firmly with both hands, lay it on the front panel curve and let it slide in naturally, applying a slight force to engage the moving part and hold the tube in position, as shown in the picture below.

Once the sealing procedure is completed and no error has occurred, the tube can be extracted. Doing it, be sure to slightly pull the tube towards you, so that the natural motion helps the moving part to get back in place (see Fig. 15).

Before starting a new sealing, please check that the status LED is off and that the moving part is properly positioned. If not, please restore it by pushing the two small flaps back in the cap (see Fig. 16).

Caution

When the clamp is closed do not pull the tube. Tension could break the tube and cause liquid spills.



5.1.1.2 After the sealing

The sealing time is automatically adjusted by the device depending on the characteristics of the tube. At the end of the sealing process, the Status LED light up green until the tube is extracted from the sealing cap. In the case of liquid spillage the Status LED will become orange, the Spark LED (see Fig. 1, item 3) will flash red, and an acoustic signal will be emitted.

The tube will appear with a clear breaking notch that simplifies the separation of the two parts by a simple traction. Before dividing the two halves, please be sure that the seal has been done properly.

After intensive use, the CompoSeal Slim might get warm and a fan on the back panel will start. Continuous use might cause the device to overheat, the Hi-Temp LED (see Fig. 1, item 2) will turn orange until the overheating condition is no longer present. If the Hi-Temp LED is on, the device will not start any new sealing process.

5.1.1.3 Precautions of use

The use of CompoSeal Slim is safe. However, the product might be potentially harmful if not used properly. To avoid this kind of events, we recommend to carefully read this section and to follow its instructions:– Never try to pull or move the tube while sealing is in progress. If you

apply force on the tube during the sealing process, it might break the tube with consequent leakage of potentially harmful fluids.

– The CompoSeal Slim must not be used on tubing still connected to a patient or a donors' arm. While chances are low, there is a possibility of releasing induced current through the tube. Therefore, always first remove the needle from the patient/donor and then seal the tube.

– Never touch the electrodes while sealing. While the surge of energy used by the sealer lasts only a few milliseconds, the temperature between the electrodes is high and it could burn your fingers.

– Never place any metallic objects or any other object between the electrodes. Doing so could result in physical burns for the user or damage to the units.

– Never plunge the device or any of its components in any liquid. For cleaning, see section Maintenance and cleaning.

– If using the optional hand sealer never use generic coaxial cables or sealing devices other than the original ones provided. The combination of any cables or sealing devices that have not been certified by Fresenius Kabi to work with the sealer might create serious damage to the system and potentially be harmful for the operator.

– If the electrodes are wet or dirty, an electric arc of energy could be generated between them. Therefore, it is important to clean and dry the electrodes periodically.

– Do not use any abrasive material on the electrodes; they are delicate. Never try to clean them with abrasive material like glass, paper, or a metallic brush.



5.1.2 Connection of the CompoSeal Slim to a USB port

The USB port (see Fig. 2, item 4) on the back panel of the device is dedicated to servicing and diagnosis purposes only.

When the power is ON, the connection of a PC to the USB port puts the device in communication mode. Do not start any sealing procedure while connected in this way. Sealing procedure is inhibited when device is in communication mode with PC.

When the power is OFF, the connection of the USB port to a PC puts the device in upgrading mode.

Please refer to the Service Manual of the device for USB connection details.

Caution

The USB connector on the back panel is protected by a metal plate, do not remove it is only for servicing by personnel trained and authorized by Fresenius Kabi.



5.2 How to use multiple CompoSeal Slim connected in a cascade configuration

Once the CompoSeal Slim has been properly connected in a cascade configuration (see section Installation / initial start-up), it is possible to execute a segmentation of the tube with sealing's performed in cascade.

It is important to know the direction of the sealing sequence in order to prevent the pressure from increasing in the tube. The correct sequence of sealing's has to be done towards the bag.

For this reason, the CompoSeal Slim automatically detects if it is in a cascade configuration, and it will indicate to the operator the correct position of the bag (to the right or left) depending on the cascade installation. The last CompoSeal Slim of the chain will have a blue Status LED on, indicating that this is where the bag should be positioned.

– Insert the tube in all the slots of the chain to start multiple sealing's. Once the sealer detects the tube presence, the Status LED turns green.

Once the tube is detected on all the units, the sealing sequence begins. If using a foot switch, the sealing sequence starts only with the direct input from the operator.

Any unit can be excluded from the cascade sealing by switching off that particular unit. If needed, the user can keep the cascade connection but operate a single unit as the only sealer.

– In this case, turn off all the other units in the chain except the one that will be operated as a single sealer. Note that the blue bag side indicator for the Status LED will not be operative in this instance unless the foot switch is connected to the first unit.

Caution

If, in a cascade configuration, you do not see the bag side blue LED, it may be disabled or not working.

– Always check your cascade configuration to correctly place the bag before every sealing procedure.

7 Errors and FAQ / Troubleshooting

7.1 FAQ

How does the sealer work?

The CompoSeal Slim uses and concentrates a high electromagnetic energy generated by a radio frequency source in a small area to melt the polymer of the PVC tubing.

Can the sealer damage the cells inside the tube?

No, not as long as the instructions of use are respected. When the tube is pinched between the electrodes, the fluid inside is pushed away, creating a neutral area where the tube does not contain any fluid. It is in the center of this area, roughly two millimeters in size, where the energy is concentrated to melt the tube. The time of the energy emission is very short, lasting only a few tenths of a second. Since PVC is a bad heat conductor and the RF emission time is so short, there is no possibility that a significant quantity of heat will pass over the neutral area to damage the cells.

7.2 Troubleshooting

– Check that the power cord on the back panel is connected to an electrical socket.

– Be sure the outlet where you connected the cord is working.

– Check that the power switch on the rear panel is in the ON (I) position.

– After disconnecting the power cord from the device, check the integrity of the input fuses.

– Contact the Fresenius Kabi authorized service center.

During the initialization phase, one or more LED do not light up or the Status LED is not white.

One or more LED is not working properly.



Chapter 7: Errors and FAQ / Troubleshooting

Accessories images are shown for illustration purposes only. Fresenius Kabi reserves the right to change accessories at any time without notice.

The power on light is on but the sealer does not work.

If the device is connected in a cascade configuration, check to see if a foot switch is connected at the beginning of the cascade. If it is connected you must press on it to start the sealing.

If the device is connected in a cascade configuration, the tube must be detected by all the connected sealers to be-gin.

– Check that the High Temp LED is off. If it is on, the device is overheated and it is necessary to wait until the unit is cooled by the extracting fan on the rear panel.

– Turn off the power switch and disconnect the power cord. Clean the electrodes and the clamps and check manually if the mobile electrode can move freely. See Maintenance and cleaning section of this manual for cleaning.

– Check that the cap is installed on the front panel. The cap must be on in order to start a sealing procedure.


The seal is bad.

The electrodes might be wet or dirty. See Maintenance and cleaning section of this manual for proper cleaning instruc-tions.

If clean, and the seal is still bad, the electrode alignment could be compromised.


The tubing is leaking.

The leaking of a tubing is quite a rare event but not impos-sible. If the event has not been caused by wrong actions (pull while sealing i.e.), it is suggested to suspend the use of the sealer and clean the electrodes as shown in Mainte-nance and cleaning section of this manual.

Chapter 8: Maintenance and cleaning

8 Maintenance and cleaningThe maintenance and cleaning of the CompoSeal Slim is fairly easy. Generally, it is enough to keep the body and the electrodes clean and to carry out a periodical control of the effectiveness of the sealer to keep the device in working order. Before any cleaning or maintenance, always switch off the unit and disconnect the power cord.

8.1 Maintenance and cleaning of the desktop sealing head

8.1.1 Disassemble the tube positioning system

The sealing head is protected by a plastic cap. The cap maintains its position through a pair of strong magnets.

To remove the cap, follow these steps:

– Hold the device firmly.

– Pull gently the cap towards you until you break the magnetic force.

– Store the cap in a safe place.

The cap is guided in position by two pins that match the holes in the front panel. One of those pins, once the cap is assembled, triggers a micro-switch that enables the device to detect the presence of the cap. If the cap is not detected, the device disables the clamp movement and thus disallows the sealing process.

If the device does not detect the cap, a LED will warn the operator (see LEDs on the front panel)

Note

If the plastic pin that triggers the micro-switch ever breaks, the device will not be able to detect the cap again and thus it will be impossible to use the device. Be extremely careful. In this condition, the device will only seal through the optional hand sealer.



8.2 Maintenance and cleaning of the hand sealer

Assembled Disconnect the hand sealer from the exchangeable cable.

Hold the hand sealer with the jaws facing forward exposing the sealing cavity.

Clean the sealing cavity and the surrounding area using a cotton applicator dampened with alcohol.

Dry all cleaned surfaces using another cotton applicator.

When the surfaces are clean and dry, the device can be used again. If unable to clean satisfactorily, disassemble the hand sealer for thorough cleaning.

Disassembled After the hand sealer has been disassembled, the individual components can be cleaned using a cotton swab or Q-tip dampened with alcohol.

8.3 Weekly Maintenance

8.3.1 Cleaning of the body

– Clean externally the body as well the sealing device with a clean cloth, wet with detergent or disinfectant.

– Do not drop or spill any liquid inside the device.Never use pure alcohol or any other strong solvent to clean the painted body of the sealer.

– At the end dry all surfaces with a clean gauze or cloth.

8.3.2 Cleaning of the electrodes

– Use a clean gauze wet with alcohol to clean the electrodes frequently; old dirt left in place for a long time becomes very hard due to the effect of the heat making it hard to remove later without damaging the electrodes.

– At the end, dry all surfaces with a clean gauze or cloth and wait a few minutes before using the system again.

– After cleaning the equipment, rinse all parts with water (using a clean, damp cloth) in order to remove traces of cleaning solutions that could damage the equipment over time.

8.3.3 Cleaning of the Optical Sensors

Tube detecting system is composed by two elements like the one in the picture below:

Each Optical Sensor has two windows which are involved in tube detection. Any deposits of dirt in front of these windows and on the overlooking reflective part may cause incorrect operations.

Dirty Optical Sensors can cause two warnings:

– STATUS LED blinks dark orange, during the initialization phase

– STATUS LED light up dark orange after the sealing, signalling an error occurred during the sealing phase

Never use any abrasive material like glass-paper or metallic brushes to clean the electrodes and never apply too much force as you may damage the electrodes or compromise their alignment.

– When dirty dry material has been dampened, remove it and clean the elements.

– Be sure all clean parts are completely dry before connecting the power cord to power supply and use the system again.

8.4 Decontamination

Decontamination is an emergency procedure to follow only if strictly necessary, for example in the case of a ruptured tube.

To decontaminate:

– Disconnect the power supply cord from the device.

– Wearing proper protections (gloves, glasses, masks, lab coats, etc.) remove the plastic cap, clean the electrode and the clamp using only proper disinfectants (see previous page). During this procedure pay special attention to prevent any ingress of liquids in the device.

– Use a cloth dampened with water to rinse the device, and then dry it carefully.

– After the decontamination procedure, wait 30 minutes before using the CompoSeal Slim so humidity can completely evaporate.

– Reinstall the plastic cap and reconnect the power supply cable.

Never use acetone, trichloroethylene or other aggressive solvents. Bleach oxidizes most metals even at low concentrations, thus avoid using it. If bleach is necessary, always rinse treated parts with a damp cloth.

8.5.3 Environmental compatibility / disposal

CompoSeal Slim is made of materials which must be disposed of as waste materials at the end of the sealer's working life, in conformity with the regulations in force and with the competent authority guidance.

When a product or its packaging are labelled with the WEEE symbol - representing a crossed out wheeled bin-, it means that the product is subject to the Directive 2012/19/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), to the Directive 2011/65/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment and to the Directive 2006/66/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on batteries and accumulators and waste batteries and accumulators.

This electrical and electronic device cannot be disposed of as domestic waste. Instead, it must be disposed of separately from common municipal waste and sent exclusively to the hazardous waste collection facilities appointed by the competent local authority.

To avoid health risks for the disposal and recycling personnel, the user is required to free the device from any trace of potentially dangerous materials which might pose a threat at a biological, chemical or radioactive level.

Illegal disposal by the product holder may lead to administrative or penal sanctions in accordance with current National legislation.
