INTRIM QUALIFICATION.
An activity may become qualified to perform PAUT and ToFD by Test Examiner demonstrating process proficiency at a NAVSEA approved qualification facility.
The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, in West Bethesda MD., is an approved facility.
Qualification is contingent upon having a currently certified ultrasonic NDT Examiner who meets the minimum PAUT/TOFD training and work experience. Goal to export qualification program to PNS

PAUT/ToFD Training.
All inspection personnel shall receive a minimum of 80 hours classroom training in PAUT and a minimum of 40 hours of classroom training in ToFD. PAUT/ToFD Experience.
Acquisition inspectors shall have a minimum of 80 hours of work experience
Inspector and Test Examiner personnel - 400 hours of work experienceExperience may be gained on mock-ups or field joints
The minimum hours of work experience may be reduced if the scope ofwork is limited or if additional oversight is provided. Any reduction in workexperience shall be approved by NAVSEA.
