• Document Library: A Collection of documents, spreadsheets and other documents. The document library supports features such as sub-folders, file versioning and the checking in/out of documents

• Picture Library: Share pictures. They can be displayed as thumbnails or as a slide show

• Links: Place a link to webpages

• Announcements: Share Bits of Information

• Discussion Board: News Site or Facebook style discussions can take place. Threads can be moderated or filtered to display in certain areas.

• Contacts: Can make a list of group members, subject matter experts.

• Events: A calendar-based view of upcoming meetings, deadlines or other events

• Tasks: Track the work of an individual or group project to make sure it doesn’t bog down.

• Surveys: Create surveys to gather information or poll other site users using templates that will assure that you get answers in the format you need.

• Blog: A User can maintain an on-line diary

• Wiki: A team can capture and share items

• Recycle Bin: Allows user to restore items accidently removed

• Rights-trimmed Interface: Use will only see those items and links that they can actually access. They will not see restricted access areas.

Web Part Pages even allow for Web Part personalization, ensuring each user sees only the most relevant information.

Create a site or workspace when you want a new place for collaborating on Web pages, lists, and document libraries. For example, you might create a site to manage a new team or project, collaborate on a document, or prepare for a meeting. You can specify the type of SharePoint site to create from a set of available site templates.
