house& home | May 2012 | house andhomeonline.com 78 pet of the month MOMMA MIA! No words. Just listen. First things first, deary: My name is Momma and I’m “tri-pawed.” That’s right, at just two years of age, I suffered an injury to one of my gorgeous beagle-mix gams. That resulted in (GASP!) an amputation. Squeal amongst yourselves but don’t cry for me, Argentina! Like most leading ladies, I’ve had to overcome quite a bit but have risen from the ashes like a Phoenix and I’m back, baby. I’m BACK! In case you haven’t noticed, I possess a slight flare for the dramatic. But it’s not bad drama. It’s joyful. I may not be able to win a dog race (what young lady wants to be called a “dog” anyway?) but I can keep up with any of the up- and-coming starlets on my tail. Just watch me run. Speaking of, did you notice my action-ori- ented head shot? Nice work, right? It was on the set of a Western I just wrapped with Gidget, the “¡Yo Quiero Taco Bell” actor. She couldn’t keep up. Poor thing. Now I’m auditioning to be your leading lady at the HSPCA. I’ve done worse venues. I’d really love to perform my repertoire for you in a homier space. Won’t you give me the role? There’s an added bonus: your friends can refer to me as “Yo Momma!” Take that, Gidget! ID# 153166 HOUSTON SPCA 900 Portway Drive, Houston 77024, 713.869.SPCA (7722) Open daily, www.houstonspca.org
