Apr 06, 2016
2015 is going to be an exciting year for Perth Theatre Company. It is an extensive, diverse and ambitious program backed by a committed number of really valued sponsors, and supported by an energised and engaged board of directors.
PTC is known for its innovative, contemporary style. This year we celebrate these ingredients in a number of different venues with a dynamic mix of artists and work.
We are fortunate to have the continued support of the State Government through the
Department of Culture and the Arts. We are very grateful for their support and we look forward to expanding our growing base of stakeholders.
The small and highly talented management team have really outdone themselves with the 2015 program and the board is very proud of their efforts. I am sure that 2015 will be a pivotal and significant year of development and discovery for this 31-year-young company.

OUR CHAIR
4
As patron of Perth Theatre Company, it is with great delight that I welcome you to the 2015 Annual Season.
This year Perth Theatre Company continues to bring compelling and reflective theatre to the people of Perth.
We celebrate PTC’s innovative work and approach to stories with such sensitivity that recurring themes of love, loss and hope are skillfully met with contemporary performances that connect audiences to diverse and thought-provoking cultural experiences.
Wonderful, evocative and experimental collaborations promise to deliver compelling theatre that emphasises resilience and hope.
Perth Theatre Company’s 2015 Season awaits you and I encourage you to join us in engaging in a season of unique and unexpected theatre. THE RT HON. THE LORD MAYOR Lisa-M. Scaffidi CITY OF PERTH

OUR ARTISTIC DIRECTORIn 2015 we take you deep into the worlds of a diverse collection of characters and stories in a season that celebrates relationships — friendship, families and lovers. Exploring the role of the individual, community and culture in shaping the larger world we share, it is an immersive series of encounters encompassing the sonic, visual, technological and personal.
The works all play with scale and environment, taking place across a number of exciting venues and offering a bold set of pathways that map an array of creative experiences.
Each of the artists we are working with across 2015 brings a unique voice to their practice and to their view of humanity. They will share this vision with you in ways that promise to be unexpected, refreshing and deeply moving.
Spanning the epic and the intimate, these pieces resonate across time and place to remind us of our commonality and difference, offering up new perspectives on our own worlds — the private, public and political.
I hope you will find that the ideas, big and small, offer a touchstone for the reason we choose to engage with this most compelling of art-forms. In their playfulness and honesty, these voices invite a new way of looking at the world around you, whether it be momentary or everlasting.

A COMPELLING AND MEMORABLE LOOK BEYOND SOUND-BYTES AND HEADLINES
FROM THE RUBBLE
Exploding the boundaries of theatre, From the Rubble is a unique multi-artform piece inspired by the work of one of Australia’s most cherished writers and journalists, Walkley Award winner Sophie McNeill.
Melissa Cantwell uses the evocative images embedded in Sophie’s work to give you a glimpse into the lives of civilians in conflict zones. Exploring themes of displacement, transformation and hope, From the Rubble tells compelling personal stories that find joy in the resilience and ingenuity of women the world over.
PICA’s Performance Space is transformed into an immersive world, created by visual artist Fleur Elise Noble and a team of Perth innovators.
From the Rubble investigates our contemporary relationship to conflict in a work that promises to be unforgettable.
"Noble not only deconstructs her art, she shreds, incinerates and rebuilds it, milking the full potential of today’s multimedia technology like an Andy Warhol for a new era." THE ADVERTISER, ADELAIDE

Perth Theatre Company presentsSide Pony Productions’
Created by Perth’s award-winning Side Pony Productions (The Pride, The Wives of Hemingway, The Manic Pony) and featuring vocal performances by some of Perth’s finest actors, this interactive audio experience places you at the centre of the action.
When a bag full of cash is brought into Peter’s very ordinary home, his family finds themselves caught up in a sinister and disturbing chain of events. You are invited to step onto the floor and into this gripping thriller, experiencing first-hand the sordid betrayal and moral philandering that’s about to smother this suburban dream.
Six audience members, equipped with masks and headsets, are guided through the story, experiencing events first hand. Those who prefer to watch can survey the action from the perimeter in the Studio Underground, eavesdropping on the characters’ most private thoughts and conversations.
