The development and quality process is reviewed by Principal, IQAC and Management. Academic diary helps teacher to document student centric practices. Feedback: The institute has strengthen the mechanism of feedback. Other Sports Activities: Gymnasium, Athletics, Weight lifting, Cross-country. The necessary facility and the playground is available for these sports activities.
Gymkhana: A well-equipped gym of 300 sq. meter size available in a separate building. The Gymkhana facilities include.
Play ground: The Institute has a sport ground which is used for various outdoor games. The major events Annual day, cultural events, Sports Day and other major programs are organized on playground.
Library Automation:
The college library is fully automated from 2009. The library uses LibSys 6.0 software for regular
housekeeping work of the library. Books and students‟ library cards are barcoded. The book is
issued to the students and faculty using a barcode based system. Library, stack section,
circulation counter and reading room are kept under CCTV surveillance.
Open Public Access Catalogue (OPAC): This facility provides complete searchable database of
books available in the library. Students can check the availability of the desired book using
OPAC terminal. The OPAC database can be searched using book title, Author, Publisher,
Subject etc.
Library portal: The college website has a separate portal for library which act as a one stop
solution for all the information needs of its user‟s. The details of e-books, e journal articles,
databases subscribed by library, online newspapers, rules and regulations etc. is available in the

IT Infrastructure
The college is known for its IT infrastructure in the jurisdiction of Kavayitri Bahinabai
Chaudhari North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon. A total number of computers available in the
college is 150. Three specialized computer labs installed with Intel Core – i3 – 4130 (4th
Generation) computers with 3.20GHz CPU, 500 GB HDD, DVD-RW, Web Cam, and 18.5” LCD
screen are available for running the UG and PG courses in Computer Science. The college is
using licensed version of Microsoft softwares. The college has valid MSDN Academic Alliance
Pack (Microsoft Imagine Premium) software with a validity period up to 2021. All three labs
and the administrative office is connected through LAN by an external certified agency.
(AVAYA, Certified Systemax Structured Connectivity) for 20 years (up to March 2022). Wi-Fi
system is installed in the building in 2013-14 with CiSCO-WRT 120. A total number of ports
available are 12 across the various areas of college campus/building. Wi-Fi system is under the
up gradation with new ports (CiSCO-WRT 120) to be installed. The college updates the
internet facilities and the band width time to time as per the need. Internet facility is available
through Reliance 100 Mbps Fiber Optic (Primary) service. Cyberom Firewall Security is
installed. An additional backup line from BSNL Broadband with 10 Mbps is also available in case
the main facility is not available. Other necessary facilities such as printers, Scanners, LCD
projectors, photocopying machines, data storage server, LAN switches and network, generator
backup facility are available.
Student support related activities
The college has a Student‟s Council as per provisions of Section 40(2) (b) of the Maharashtra
University Act, 1994 and Maharashtra University Act, 2016. The students Council consists of
Principal, Principal nominated teacher, Student Welfare Officer, Program Officer of NSS,
Director of Sports, one student from each class with academic merit and student
(SC/ST/NT/DT-NT/OBC) nominated by Principal. The students are selected based on academic
merit and willingness. The principle nominates two lady representatives who have significantly
contributed to the college welfare activities. One student representative represent the college at
the university, designated as University Representative (UR), is finally elected by the student
representatives in the presence of Teachers‟ Representatives to the governing body, the IQAC
Co-coordinator and the convener of the Student council committee. The function of “Students
Council” is to work as a liaison between students and college administration and help to co-
ordinate extra-curricular activities of the college.
The Students' council of R. C. Patel College plays a significant role in the wholesome
development of the students. It plays a pivotal role in voicing the interests and concerns of the
students to the authorities. It is instrumental in enhancing the leadership qualities and the
maintenance of the rights of the students in the campus. The management of College with the
noble intention of enhancing the civic consciousness, social awareness and environmental
awareness encourages the students to organize workshops, seminars and innovative
programmes. The Council, with the constant encouragement of the Management and staff
regularly organizes many activities, thus fulfilling the purpose of the council.
Student Council help to maintain discipline in college, council members locate students who are
good in sports, cultural activities and help them to get involved in activities. They also help in
organizing Annual Social Gathering, Republic day, Independence Day, class trips, tournaments,
sports events, etc. Council takes a responsibility to report anything not in order or unhealthy
that they observe. Student council also organize welcome and farewell functions for the
incoming and the outgoing students of the college. Student council and the UR ensures
discipline in the college campus by encouraging students to observe the rules of the college,
creates environmental consciousness among the students and work to maintain a green and
clean campus. UR also creates awareness among students regarding the necessity of making the
college a „Plastic-Free Zone‟ and stresses the importance of maintaining personal health, hygiene
and cleanliness in and outside college.
Alumni
The process of registration of Alumni Association of R. C. Patel Arts, Commerce and Science is
underway. Even though, a large number of alumni are continuously in touch with the
departments and are contributing in various forms for the development of the different
departments of the college. The most significant contribution of the alumni is in the area of job
searching for the fresh students. Different alumni groups are active on social media which
continuously update the teachers as well as new comers regarding the job vacancies, training
positions and walk in drives of various industries. The department of microbiology and
biotechnology has a strong alumni base. Due to efforts of our alumni, majority of our PG
students are immediately absorbed in Pharma and biotech industries. Alumni also contributes
by bearing the educational expenses of poor students.
Governance and administrative reforms
The governing body systematically works to involve all stakeholders in decision making process.
Decentralization of activities start with the meetings of management and Principal. Principal
briefs the management about the activities undertaken by the college in previous year, result
analysis and other achievements. Overall activities and requirements of the college for the
upcoming Academic year are also decided. The expectations of the Management are conveyed to
the staff by the Principal by organizing the staff meetings and HoDs meeting periodically. The
decentralization is ensured by providing autonomies at different levels are described below
Administrative Autonomy
Principal is the main administrative authority of the college. A vice-Principal is appointed who
executes the power in absence of the principal and looks after the daily academic activities. The
regular functioning of the college is supervised by him. The admission process, finance, audit etc.
activities are decentralized by office superintend among the office staff.
Academic Autonomy
The HoDs and faculty has given complete academic autonomy. The HoDs are responsible for
smooth functioning of the department. The HoDs are accountable for departmental functioning.
They monitor curricular, extra-curricular and extension activities. The lesson plan and other
concerning reports are prepared by the faculty and evaluated by HoDs and the by Vice-Principal.
HoDs and Vice-principal undertake periodic review of the syllabus completion, test tutorial,
result analysis and various committees.
Financial Autonomy
HoDs make planning for purchase of departmental requirements such as chemicals, equipment,
stationary etc. at the beginning of the academic sessions. The science faculty HoDs has to
prepare the budget for purchasing equipments and other laboratory requirements. As per the
requirements and the availability of funds, the appropriate funds are sanctioned by the
Management and the Principal and all the requirements are made available to the departments.
Apart from this, HoDs have freedom to organize to the guest lectures and other programs. For
such events, necessary budgetary provision are made in the institutional budget and the
required funds are sanctioned to undertake the planned activity.
Autonomy to librarian
College librarian has complete freedom for all the library activities. He collects the requirements
regarding new books and periodicals from the all the HoDs. He places the order to the
publishers/distributers. He also subscribes the academic and general periodicals as per changing
needs of faculty and students. The ideas of Student council are considered an implemented to
make the library student friendly.
Autonomy to Physical Director
The physical director prepares plans for the gymkhana as per the requirement and sports events
to be conducted in the coming academic year. The gymkhana is equipped /provided with all
instruments for gym and kits of various games. The physical director is the in charge of the
gymkhana and has given full authority to organize / conduct all the activities of the department.
Physical director have also given the financial assistance time to time to facilitate the sport
activities at in and out of the station. Students have appropriate say in the functioning of the
Gymkhana and utilization of the sport facilities.
Participation of stakeholders in policy formulation
The Management of college, Principal, Vice-principal, teaching staff and non-teaching
staff works hand in hand to achieve the institutional goals and objectives. Every element of the
college contributes in the developmental activities of the institute. Various stakeholders involve
in attaining the institutional goals includes College Development Committee (Local Managing
Committee) that formulates the policy for quality framework. Principal, Vice-Principal are
taken in loop while taking the various policy issues. IQAC plays important role in formulation
as well implementation of quality indicators for the college. The administrative and the support
staff of the college works as per the policies framed by the IQAC, Principal and the management.
Faculty Empowerment
The management, Principal as well as the IQAC of the college appreciates the innovation,
continuously motivates its human resources by adopting following practices.
The management of the institute has established co-operative housing society (Vidya
Vihar Housing Society, Shirpur) on no profit no loss basis. Under this scheme, teaching
and non-teaching staff are given residential plots at the lowest cost. Majority of the staff
has taken the benefit of this scheme.
The institute has well established credit society (R. C. Patel Co-operative Credit Society,
Shirpur). The teaching and non-teaching staffs are the members of this society. Members
of the society contribute a fixed amount from their salary every month. The society offers
loan to the members for various purpose very low interest rate. The overall profit of the
society is evenly distributed as a dividend among all society members.
Teaching and non-teaching staff is covered under Group Insurance scheme from Bajaj
Allianz Insurance Co.
In addition to this, The Management has provided the other welfare schemes such as
Gymkhana, and recreational facilities, Consumer Store etc.
Teaching and Non-teaching staff is encouraged to have training sessions of MKCL to
understand and acclimatize the process of computerization of the office, the library,
different research centers, and various departments.
Professional training of MS Office for office staff.
Deputation for teachers for profession development programs like orientation/refreshers/
Summer Training workshops/ winter training programs.
The management encourage teachers to upgrade their qualifications with research
degrees like M.Phil. / Ph.D.
The institution always encourages faculty to participate in various academic, co-
curricular and sports activities organized at university, state, national and international
level.
Several faculty members are members of national and international professional bodies,
scientific associations and the members of editorial boards and reviewer boards of
various national and international journals.
The IQAC and the research promotion committee encourages and guides to teachers to
submit the research project, book writing etc.
Role of IQAC in achieving the short and long term goals of the college
Extension activities
The college undertakes a number of extension activities in the town as well as in the nearby
villages to sensitize the students as well as the faculty on various social and cultural issues.
Department of microbiology and Biotechnology of the college is undertaking the blood group
detection and hygiene awareness camps in the Ashram Schools of nearby villages from last
fifteen years. Blood group of several thousand students and tribals was checked in this exercise.
So far, the camp has been organized at 16 villages. In this activity, students of the department the
blood group of the young children. They also demonstrate importance of hand washing, bathing,
nail clipping etc. Students also prepare the posters highlighting important communicable
diseases, their control and treatment. During the camp, students present street plays, door to
door visit and aware the tribal people regarding various health issues. This activity has been
appreciated media as well as by the management of the college. The faculty and the student
proactively worked in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Students organized several rallies, media
campaigning, clean campus drive etc. The Department of Microbiology coordinated the
vermicomposting of solid waste in several housing societies during the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
by providing the microbial culture for waste management. The efforts of the college helped
Shirpur Municipal Council to secure 63rd position in the west zone comprising five states of
India (https://swachhsurvekshan2018.org/Rankings/Lessthan1Lakh). The efforts of the college
contributed in Swachhat Ranking of the Shirpur City. Involvement of the college. The NSS unit
of the college initiated a village adaption initiative. The college also organizes a blood donation
camp every year in association with a blood bank and Red Cross society. More than one
hundred students and faculty members donate their blood every year. The college has
established a Red Ribbon Club in association with Ministry of health, Government of
Maharashtra and North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon. The Club organized various activities
such as AIDS awareness week, awareness of blood donation in the year of 2013 and 2014.
