STATEMENT OF RESEARCH INTEREST
My current research interests are primarily in the areas of cardiovascular engineering, Heart/Lung sounds, and study of the
mechanical engineering applications in biomedical engineering. Under the supervision of Professor Mahdi Navidbakhsh, I have
modeled the cardiovascular system using an equivalent electronic system and studied two important pathologies including aorta
aneurysms and renal stenosis. Modeling and simulation are key tools which enable biomedical scientists to study the biological
systems. In my research, I have tried to advance existing models by increasing more segments and parameters. The model has been
validated using experimental data and it mimics the human
cardiovascular system with good precision.
I would like to continue my research of cardiovascular engineering
and heart/lung sounds by:
1-Improving the existing models in different aspects of
cardiovascular system
2- Analysis and detection of heart, lung, and other biological
sounds using signal processing method.
3- Study of different mechanical engineering applications.
4- CFD and FSI study of blood hemodynamics.
I also have interests in a number of areas of biomechanics including biofluid and heart mechanics. Although we have started to conduct new project with other labs in abroad but I think
working individually in a recognized lab would help me to learn new things. To conclude, I am highly interested in increasing the
number of persons of color who pursue Master’s and doctoral degrees in mathematics, engineering and biomedical engineering
sciences. I would like to express the interest at the level of associated professorate by writing grants and proposals that would fund programs designed to increase the number of persons of color
who pursue advanced degrees in the areas listed above. In the future I wish to gain the tools necessary to participate in an
advanced degree program in biomechanics. This may involve
developing research seminars, colloquia, or graduate courses.

Description of Teaching Interests
Teaching has been an important part of my life. I would be delighted to
have the opportunity to teach and mentor students at the university.
I have extensive teaching experience in a range of biomechanics science.
During graduate school, I was a teaching assistant for Static, Dynamics
and Thermodynamics. I have been teaching a number of students in
