Basic Ideas: • an OWL ontology to capture ecosystems as evolving
linked resources
• Extensible through domain specific specialisation
• The model will also serve as a data schema: RDF graph instances stored in triple stores will reflect the evolution of the preserved resources
Page 3
Key Ideas
• dependencies may have complex topology
• dependency are characterized by usage intention • resources may be versioned
• Changes apply both to resources of the ecosystem AND
their descriptions
• Open the way toward reflexive digital preservation
Page 4
• how could we preserve digital materials for the long haul, if the functionalities of the preservation system itself cannot be preserved?
• Idea: LRM could be used to model the PERICLES preservation systems as a particular collection of digital resources, thus leading to a form of reflexivity
• Ontological schemas may evolve too: OWL classes and properties can be modelled as particular LRM resources
