HYPOTHESISIt is assumed that about 50% of patients taking
Siddha medicines suffer from chronic ailments
(suffering from the disease for more thanthree months) such as diabetes mellitus,bronchial asthma, osteoarthritis etc
These chronically ill patients turn to Siddha
treatment only after trying other forms oftreatment especially the conventional modernmedicine.

disease condition for more than 3 months
Orthopedic or musculoskeletal disorders werefound among 29.10%of the patients (117)
Number of people aging above 50 years were161 (40%)drug delivery system or slow
action? reason behind preferring Siddha treatment:
204 (50.74%) dissatisfaction with the othersystems of medicine. 138 (34.32%)
expected a safe and lasting relief.

CONCLUSION Siddha, the perfect system of medicine or
the medical system of the perfect Siddhars,is fast reviving in its own land
The results of the current study show apositive change of attitude of the publictowards Siddha system of medicine
Siddha system of medicine is expected to dowell particularly for the problems for whichthe conventional modern medicine has nocure like degenerative disorders, chronicdermatological conditions etc.,
