ABSTRACT
Today, coaching has been often used by companies to develop the
performance and potential of employees. PT BCA Tbk itself has begun to implement
a coaching since 2001 and until now continues to be improved in order to make this
coaching as a culture in the workplace.
The researcher conducted a study to evaluate the role and formal coaching
model that exist in PT BCA Tbk in Semarang Regional Office II. The study was
conducted with the method of non-participation observation, the search of
documentation about the coaching, and through in-depth interviews and guided to
the management representative of BCA Regional Office II namely the Head of
Human Resources Development of Regional Office II and Head of Service Quality
Region II, Head of Department as the coach acting as the Branch Ambassador
Coach in 2013 and 2014, and the staff as a coachee of the Coach of the Branch
Ambassador.
From the results showed that it is still not fully employees at PT BCA Tbk,
especially in the Regional Office II understand the meaning and process of
coaching related to formal coaching. Discussion on the three aspects of formal
coaching covering business goals, competencies, and development can be felt
beneficial to the development of employees and Head of Department as the Branch
Ambassador Coach regarded has been able to dig three matters above. Formal
coaching model that currently exist in PT BCA Tbk could already be running
effectively. The effectiveness of the coaching process can be achieved if influenced
by several things, among others, a common understanding of the coach and
coachee about coaching, their awareness of coaching, the level of coaching
competence possessed by a coach, and the initiative of the coachee in the coaching
process. There are some things that still need to be improved in the future,
especially namely related to the awareness to perform coaching either in the
perspective of coach and coachee.
