We’re creating a new LNGO*

A new organization in Cambodia (a ’LNGO’)

PEPY in the US will continue to channel donations, and provide support, to PEPY Empowering Youth in Cambodia.

Who we are now: a 501(c)3 registered in the US with programs in Cambodia.

* Local non-governmental organization – otherwise known as a non-profit or charity.

Rationale

We believe as an organization that promotes empowering youth in Cambodia, we should also be about empowering our Cambodian team.

Promoting local ownership is an opportunity to create a sustainable organization with those from the country. As a local NGO (LNGO), we will create some exciting new opportunities for ourselves. Including:

•Required establishment of a Cambodian Board of Directors – we are introducing governance from experienced Cambodians with deep-rooted understandings of challenges and opportunities for our organization.•Access to grant funding – as an LNGO we will have access to new funding streams via grant funding. Some grants only fund LNGOs.

What will the LNGO do?

In 2013 we informed you of our latest strategic direction and five year plan. We will continue to drive this vision and goal forward. Our key focus over the next few years:

Our vision, mission and values will remain very similar – with a focus on empowering youth through education and commitments to transparency, honesty, sharing and collaborations.

• Dream Classes – developing plans to achieve dreams and goals, by connecting students to the systems and inspiration necessary.

• Learning Center Program – providing support to university level students (including PEPY scholarship students, and other scholarship students from Kralanh).

• Scholarship Program – increasing access for Kralanh high school graduates to higher education in Siem Reap.

have identified a group of exceptional people in Cambodia to help support us. These people

come from various backgrounds, all with an understanding and passion for NGOs and

education.

Things will remain very similar!

• Mission, vision and goal will still be centered around education and supporting those in the Kralanh area.

• Our vision is a future where young Cambodians are empowered to pursue careers to improve the quality of their lives.

• Our mission is to work with young Cambodians and connect them to the skills, opportunities and inspirations needed to reach their potential.

• Our key goal: is to increase the percentage of Kralanh graduates accessing skilled employment.

• Programs will remain the same (Dream Class, Scholarship Program and Learning Center).

• Branding – some small changes, but same look and feel (there will be a new logo and web domain www.pepyempoweringyouth.org )

• Donations – we are in the proccess of changing giving platforms and accounts. Currently our UK and Cambodian details remain the same and US donations will be administered through CAF and Maggie’s Fund as of mid January 2015.

• International Board – maintain close-knit relationship and continue to advise and support us

What happens to my donation?

Donations made before January 2014 will be spent by the current organization, PEPY, in the school year September 2013 – August 2014.

Any donation made between January and December 2014, is allocated to be spent in the school year September 2014+, and will be spent and delivered by both PEPY and as of January 2015 the new NGO ‘PEPY Empowering Youth’.

All donations made after December 2014 will also be spent and delivered by ‘PEPY Empowering Youth’.

As explained in previous slides PEPY Empowering Youth will run the same three programs as PEPY and as such your donations will be spent on delivering the same standard of support in the same areas.
