Alexander G. Bell:Alex G. Bell, invented the telephone March 3 , 1876.Which helped thousands talk to relatives far away,we still use this invention today. He also invented the metal detector in 1881,That also helped us find a bullet in the U.S. president, James Garfield!

Thomas Edison:

In 1879 he invented the light bulb.In the following years he invented the phonograph,the kinetoscope.The phonograph was used to record and reproduce sound.The kinetoscope was used to play short clips or films.

Henry Bessemer:In 1855 he invented the process to make steel.His steel was used for some houses,skyscrapers,and many more things.He named his process after him self. He called it the Bessemer Process.

Andrew Carnegie:

He was the first person to use the Bessemer Process in 1897. In 1899 he opened his own steel mill called the Carnegie Steel Mill. In 1901 he sold his company to the U.S. steel mill for $250.

John D. Rockefeller:

Was the richest man of his time. He ruled all the industries in our state. Which by the way is called Monoply.

Samuel Gompers:

Was the president of te A.F.L . Which also stands for American Federation of Labor. He died in 1924 when most foreign efforts ended.

Upton Sinclair:

Wrote a famous book called the Jungle. Which told about what they did to the meat and what was happening to the meat in the factories.

Theodore Roosevelt:He passed 2 laws that made food safer.One was called the Pure Food and Drug Act.The other was called the Meat Inspection Act.If you heard about the book called,’’The Jungle”you know what I am talking about!

W.E.B. Du Bois:

He was one of the leaders of the NAAP,which stands for National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.In the 1950’s he talked with the Federal Government ,the make nuclear weapons bane .In 1963 he died.

Booker T. Washington:

He was an African American leader who started a school in 1881.He also gave job training to other African Americans.He called his school the Tuskegee Institute.He built his institute in Tuskegge,Alabama.It was an all African American School.In 1888,four hundred students were enrolled .
