The Assetville Estate • The local council serving the Assetville Estate must decide how to make millions of pounds

worth of savings from services such as environment management, waste and adult social care.

• The local needs assessment suggests that Assetville Estate residents are more likely to be in poorer health than the rest of the population and more likely to provide care to a poorly relative. The estate is in an LSOA in the bottom 5% most deprived according to the Index of Multiple Deprivation.

• Consultation carried out by the local council suggests that residents of the estate are particularly concerned about dog mess, fly tipping and anti-social behaviour. The neglected strip of grassland near the local corner shop where youths congregate is seen as a particular problem.

• Residents of the estate say they are struggling to make ends meet. Some have got into debt and are using payday loan companies.

• A 90 year old man, Bill, is sleeping rough in a nearby park. He has a house on the Assetville Estate but he is struggling to look after himself and his home is unfit to live in.
