penn polycystic ovary syndrome centerThe Penn Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Center takes a multidisciplinary approach to treating women with PCOS. We focus on accurate diagnosis and offer highly specialized treatments to help women manage their disease. Patients have access to a variety of services, including hormonal treatment, fertility treatment, weight management, nutrition services, lipid management, dermatology and laser hair removal.
robotic surgeryPenn surgeons perform more robotic gynecologic surgeries than any other program in the Philadelphia region to surgically treat uterine fibroids, congenital uterine malformations, endometriosis, pelvic pain and excessive uterine bleeding. A variety of these conditions, including tubal ligation reversal, may be performed using minimally invasive or robotic-assisted surgery. The benefits of these procedures include smaller incisions, less scarring, significantly less pain, less blood loss and shorter recovery times.
fertility preservation for cancer patientsThere are a number of male and female fertility options before, during and after cancer treatment to help a woman become pregnant. Embryo or sperm freezing and donated eggs are excellent options. In addition, physicians at Penn Fertility Care are conducting clinical trials to evaluate new and improved fertility preservation methods, including egg (oocyte) freezing and ovarian tissue freezing.
preimplantation Genetic diagnosisPreimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is an option for patients undergoing IVF that screens embryos for genetic diseases before they are transferred to the uterus. PGD may be recommended to patients who have a history of heritable genetic disease or are carriers of a genetic or chromosomal abnormality. PGD can be used to assess chromosomal status and determine risk for diseases such as cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, Down’s syndrome and other genetic conditions.
