Abstract
The objectives of this study are: firstly to determine the effectiveness of lead (Pb) and zinc (Zn) absorption by different population densities of duckweed (Lemna minor L), and secondly to determine the optimum of duckweed population densities on the Pb and Zn absorption. Data were analyzed by Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD), 6 treatments and 4 replications. As the treatments are various percentage surface area coverage of the bucket by duckweed, which are: 0% (control, no duckweed), 12,5%, 25%, 37,5%, 50%, and 62,5%, respectively. To test the differences between treatment means, the Honestly Significant of Differences (HSD) were used using 5% level of significant. The results of this study show that the effectiveness of lead (Pb) absorption from textile waste water is 59,52% (0,50 mg/L) occured in 4 day at 50% duckweeds coverage, whereas for Zn is 67,57% (0,25 mg/L) occured at 12,5% duckweeds coverage in 4 days.
