Since 2005, Pedro has been traveling the world studying vine roots and their terroir. After more than 25000 calicatas (pits) around the world, Pedro realizes that there is no place like home and decided to start Parra Family Wines. Granite and schist are now his every day companions. "Pencopolitano comes from PENCO, an old spanish enclave where the City of Concepcion was established and fisicaly persisted for more than 250 years. It was totally destroyed by the big Tsunami of 1758. PENCOPOLITANO means citizen of Concepcion, my city, Capital of the Itata Valley and terroir for all of my wines." Pedro Parra Wine description: Pencopolitano is a red blend from 6 different vineyards, all of them Old vines, from Cauquenes and Itata. All the vineyards are composed with red granite soils, dry farmed, and many of them field blends. The wine is about red fruit flavours and complex soil notes along with hints of chamomile. In the mouth the wine shows an incredible mineral attack from the granite soil, very fresh and long. Th is wine holds natural acidity and no oak. None certified organic, sustainably grown Field Blend (Malbec, Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan, Pais, Carmenere) Ageing in Cement and Stainless steel for 1 year Soil red quartzic granite Vinification process: Native yeast, very low extraction by soft and short pumping over.
