• Fellow congregants, may Allah’s Blessings be on us,

• The opportunity to be on this Friday and in this mosque, I like to remind myself and the brothers in Islam, let us together to increase our taqwa to Allah SWT by doing all His commandments and leaving all His prohibitions . 

• Hopefully we get the blessings and protection of Allah SWT in this world and in the hereafter. 

• TODAY, IN CONJUNCTION WITH NATIONAL MOURNING DAY, the Mimbar will deliver a Khutbah entitled: "The Truth of Lauh Mahfuz"

• Fellow congregants, May Allah’s Blessings be on us,

• As Muslims who adhere to the Qur'an and the hadith, we believe that the life, death and life after death is the journey traveled by all humans. 

• Allah SWT has written it in the book of Lauh Mahfuz as a place to keep all the secrets of the heavens and the earth from the beginning to the end time. 

• The big question arises here what is meant by Lauh Mahfuz? 

• In a nutshell there are scholars agreed of the fact of Lauh Mahfuz is Book of Qada' and Qadar of all beings before they were created. 

• Allah SWT says in Surah al‐Hajj verse 70:

• Which means: • Do you not know that Allah has knowledge of what the heavens and earth contain? This is written in the Book (Lauh Mahfuz or the Heavenly Preserved Tablet). And indeed that is easy for Allah. 

• And again AllahSWT says in Surah al‐Hadid verse 22:

• Which means:• No misfortune (or calamity) can befall the earth or your own persons, but is recorded in a Book (Our Knowledge), before We bring it into existence. Truly that is easy for Allah. 

• According to Atiyah and al‐Qurtubi in their commentary that the book in this verse is Lauh MAHFUZ. 

• Ibn Mas'ud reported: Verily when a sperm settled in a womb, an angel will take and put it in the palm of his hand and said: My Lord, do you want it to be created?

• If the answer is not to be created, it shall not become human, it will melt into blood. On the other hand if the answer is to be created, the angels said: Male or female, suffers or happy? 

• How is his death, age, legacy, provision, and place of death. 

• Allah SWT then said: Go into Lauh Mahfuz, there you will get the nuthfah. 

• It is said to the nuthfah: Who is your Lord? He replied: Allah SWT. When asked about his sustenance, he said, Allah.  Then he is created as human with a family and living on the  sustenance bestowed upon him. 

• When the time of his death, his soul would be taken away and his body will be buried.

• (Narrated by al‐Hakim)

• Fellow congregants, May Allah’s Blessings be on us,

• Based on what is fated by Allah SWT in Lauh Mahfuz, we as Muslims must believe that death is the one thing that has been determined. 

• How healthy a person is, how majestic, powerful and rich, the environment, but definitely humans will die and leave this mortal world. 

• Even the prophets, apostles who were closest to Allah SWT, even the man who is the beloved Messenger of Allah SWT could not run away from death, facing a world of Barzakh and the day of judgment. 

• Allah’s decree in Surah an‐Nisaa 'verse 78:

• Which means:• Wherever you are, death will overtake you even though you are in strong and lofty towers.

• Every man will die because death means a return to the original creation. It comes from the earth, he will surely be going back into the earth to serve as a reminder to mankind. 

• The question of death is the greatest event, an event that can not be avoided. 

• When a man dies, his body became rotten, worm eaten, bones become dust back into the soil and the soul then leaves the body. 

• This soul that cause us to live, can hear, see, sense, feel and think.

• Fellow congregants, May Allah’s Blessings be on us,

• Accepting death as a fate of Allah SWT contains wisdoms and among them are:

• First: It strengthen the faith and  deep sense of devotion to Allah SWT to implement all His commands and leave the prohibitions. 

• Ibn al‐Qayyim has said: "Allah SWT made the cycle of universe of three rounds, the natural world, world of  Barzakh and the life of hereafter. In each universe, there is the ruling of its own." 

• Believe that Allah SWT determines an incident with wisdoms. A quote by Junaid al‐Baghdadi is that:

• “Calamity and test is a lamp for the those who realize, alerting the apostate, improve the believers and destroy who default..

• No one taste the sweetness of faith before he face the test willingly and patiently.

• Second: It increase the strength of heart and patience. Those who have the courage and patience will not give up, his actions are always calm, without hurry or worry because they realize that the journey of life is the right of Allah SWT. 

• Ponder the hadith narrated by Iman Al‐Bukhari from Abu Hurairah, Radiallahu anhu, that the Prophet SAW said:

• Which means: • No calamity befalls a Muslim himself, either in the form of hardship, and suffering, grief and sadness, or illness, even a foot ( a part of the body) is affected by a piece of spine except he is forgiven by Allah SWT a part of his sins. (Narrated al‐Bukhari)

• Third: A sense of responsibility to lead themselves and their families to devote to Allah SWT and do good in seeking the pleasure of Allah SWT and the feelings of love among fellow human beings, especially family members, neighbors and the local community. 

• Believe that we as humans are bound by a sense of compassion. That is why every time we face misfortune of death, our hearts respond to sadness and sorrow.

• Usamah bin Zaid RA, said: “We are on the side of the Prophet SAW when one of his daughters asked someone to call and tell him that his daughter's son is dying. 

• Then the Prophet SAW said to the servant: Go back and tell her that the one taken by Allah SWT belongs to Him and what is given by Allah SWT also belongs to Him. 

• Everything in His presence will end, ask her to be patient and trust in Allah SWT. The servant came back to the Prophet SAW said: She promised to fulfill the order. 

• Then the Prophet SAW stood up followed by Sa'd bin Ubadah and Muaz bin Jabal RA. 

• The child (of his daughter) was lifted to the Prophet SAW was still unrestricted breath, as if he was in a qirbah (water container) that is worn out. 

• Both eyes of the Prophet started to fill with tears. Sa’ad asked: What does this means, Messenger of Allah? 

• The Prophet SAW then said: This is a mercy (compassion) placed by Allah SWT in the hearts of His servants. Indeed, Allah loves His servants who have a sense of compassion. (Narrated by Muslim)

• We need to emulate the same attitude of Abu Bakr RA while dealing with the death of the Prophet SAW. 

• He persuaded Umar al‐Khattab RA who is still shocked by the death of the Prophet SAW and said: Anyone who worshiped Muhammad, then Muhammad has indeed died. Those who worship Allah, then Allah SWT is always alive and will not die.

• Fellow congregants, May Allah’s Blessings be on us,

• As we know, today 22 August 2014, the Government has declared a national mourning day in honor of the arrival of the body of citizens of Malaysia, the crash victims of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) MH17 in Eastern Ukraine. 

• Thus the Malaysian flag should be flown at half‐mast throughout the country. Let us perform the funeral prayers in our own place.

• Let us together pray for the relatives and friends who had left  us in the tragedy MH17. We pray for their souls in the mercy and love of Allah SWT. 

• To the entire family the victims of tragedy MH17, we express our condolences, we also pray for the strength and courage to all Malaysians, especially to the families’ victims involved in this tragedy.

• We pray that our country is free from all the  chaos and calamities, and preserved with the favor of peace. 

• Instill love between people of different races, strengthen the unity among them so that they may always live in peace, enjoy peace, prosperity and security all the time. 

• Indeed, every living person will die, wherever we are, whether on land, sea or in the air. 

• Ending the Khutbah this week, let us reflect on Allah’s decree in Surah Luqman verse 34:

• Which means:• Allah Alone has the knowledge of the Hour of Doom. And He sends down the rain and knows what is in the wombs (of pregnant mothers). 

• No person knows what he will earn tomorrow (whether good or bad), and no person knows in what land he will die. Surely, Allah is All‐Knowing, All‐ Aware Encompassing all things. 

O servant of Allah, remember that this world is a place for temporary lodging. Truly, hereafter is the everlasting and permanent abode. So let us devote to Allah for obtaining happiness and escape from the punishment of 

hellfire.

• Allah says in Surah Al Ahzab verse 56:

• Which means:“Indeed Allah confers blessing upon the prophet and His angels (ask Him to do so). O! You who have believed, ask Allah to confer blessing upon him and ask Allah to grant him peace.”

• Let us pray that may Allah SWT beplease with the khalifahs ofRasulullah s.a.w i.e Sayyidina AbuBakr al‐Siddiq r.a., Sayyidina Umaral‐Khattab r.a., Sayyinda Uthman ibnAffan r.a., Sayyidina Ali ibn AbiThalib r.a.

• And to his companions who struggle to upholdthe religion of Allah, also to his uncles SayyidinaHamzah and Sayyidina Abbas r.a. and to hisgranchildren Sayyidina Hassan and SayyidinaHussain r.a., his daughters Sayyidatina Fatimah al‐Zahraa’, his wives Sayyidatina Khadijah andSayyidatina Aisyah r.a. and the other wives.Followed by his family, companions, followers ofthe companions and those who come after themfrom time to time until the end of the world.

• O Allah, forgive all Muslims and believers,whether surviving or deceased. O Allah, grantus glory and prosperity to those who fight andspend their wealth in your way such as thosewho pay zakat, waqaf etc.

• Ya Allah, bestow your guidance and help to the leaders and kings of the Muslim countries especially to Abdaka Al‐Harith Lishariatika Al‐Sultan  Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Al‐Sultan Iskandar, the Sultan and ruler for the State of Johor Darul Takzim.

• And to Raja Zarith Sofea Binti Al‐MarhumSultan Idris Shah, Tengku Ismail Ibn SultanIbrahim, Pemangku Raja Johor and, the Princeand Princess, the royal kinship, and allMuslims.
