I want to thank my science teacher Pn. Nor Azlita because she gave me some tips to complete the scrap book. After that, I want to thank to my parents Teo Yook Kiang and Ang Hwei Lan as well because they gave me some money to buy stationary and help me a lot in order to complete the portfolio.

Page 4: Peka Science PMR 2

Besides that, I also feel grateful that my friends provide me some informations and pictures while doing the folio.

Last but not least, I want to thank all the respondens for giving their hands to me so that I’ m able to finish the portfolio in time. All said, thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone that helps me when I was facing problems in doing the scrap book.

Learning Area

Interdependence among Living Organisms and The Environment

Learning Objectives

Synthesizing food web

AimI. To identify producer and

different levels of consumerII. To classify consumers into

three levels of consumersIII. To classify a few organism into

two groups based on their role in a food

IV. To construct a few food chains and forms a food web

Page 6: Peka Science PMR 2

An ecosystem consists of living organism and the environment. The living organism interacts with one another and with the environment. The living organisms depends on one another and on the environment for their survival. The interdependence among organism for food helps to maintain the balance in nature. Here we choose the field as a case of study.

Food ChainFood Chain A food chain is a linked

series of organisms, each of which is the food for the next in line. The food chain always begins with producers.

1. State the similiarity between caterpillar, grasshopper and rat. They are primary consumers.

Primary Consumers obtain food from producers.

Most of the primary are animals that feed on plants only.

Page 11: Peka Science PMR 2

2. State the similiarity of frog, bird and snake. They are secondary consumers.

Secondary consumers obtain food from primary consumers. Most of the secondary consumers are animals that feed on both plants and other animals.

Page 12: Peka Science PMR 2

Tertiary consumers obtain food from secondary consumers. Most of the tertiary consumers are animals that feed on other animals

Food WebFood WebFood chain can be inter-

connected to form a food web. The food relationship among organisms is better represented by a food web because of the interdependence among different organisms in a community.

Figure 1 shows oragnisms P, Q, R and S.

(a)Based on your observation in Figure 1, state the role of each of the four organisms P, Q, R and S ina food web.

P : Primary Consumer Q : Producer

R : Primary Consumer S : Producer

QP R S

Page 15: Peka Science PMR 2

b) Classfy the organisms P, Q, R and S into two groups based on their role ina food web.

A food web is made up of few chains. An increase or decrease in the number of organisms in a level will affect the food balanced.

Example:

Wheat RatEagle

Snake
