3. Current Status:
(1) Pecan Information Resources are Extensive, but Widely Dispersed in Various Formats.
(2) Web-based Resources are Scattered as Well.
(3) Real-Time Information is Local or Regional, with Limited Delivery over the Web.

5. Future Plans?
The Web has one major strength:
Communication
Pecan stakeholders, that is all of us, want to communicate.
We currently do so in a structured environment where the “expert” presents and the audience accepts or rejects.
The Web has the capacity to change that dynamic with a more fluid structure that each user can access and manage better according to their own needs.
How can we harness this capability on the Web without becoming bogged down in and hostage to this medium?

5. Future Plans?; continuedA reminder of the S-1017 Pecan ipmPIPE Agenda presented above.
Deliverables Expected in 2009:
a. IPM Toolbox Tailored to Regional Needs
b. Belt-Wide Real-Time Decision Aid for PNC
c. In-Season Updates on Potential Problems
d. Improved Communication Among Stakeholders
We are thinking about adding “Drought Delay alerts for Pecan Weevil”, “Alerts for Risk of Pecan Scab”, “Quarantine Concerns”. “Aids in Problem Diagnosis”, perhaps even “Making the Web the Pecan Stakeholders Friend”, etc. We can, via improved communication among stakeholders, also begin to look to the future to explore with you how Pecan ipmPIPE can serve your needs even better.
We have some new resources to work with. They are limited. Priorities must be set to ensure they are spent wisely. We want and need your input.
