Mitsuo Fuchida led the attack on Pearl Harbour in 1941. This began war in the Pacific.

A Day of Infamy

No-one suspected a surprise attack. There was much destruction.

Six times Mitsuo crash landed in the sea. Just before the battle of Midway he fell ill. His ship was bombed during the battle, throwing him into the water and breaking his legs.

Most of his peers were killed in action.

Things got worse and worse for the Japanese forces until finally the Emperor surrendered.

After the war, Mitsuo had no career and was bitter.

Jake had been a Prisoner Of War of the Japanese. He was treated cruelly. His faith helped him overcome his bitterness.

While attending court cases over human rights violations, Mitsuo caught up with Jake's story. He read Jake's pamphlet, 'I was a Prisoner of Japan.'

As Mitsuo read the Bible for himself, he was amazed at the love, forgiveness and grace of God. He saw how it changed Jake. Now he felt that transformation in his own life.

Instead of regretting the past, Mitsuo set about changing the future by telling people about God's love and forgiveness.
