The department have taken part in National School Sports Week for the last 3 years. During this week the students get the opportunity to participate in sports that are new to them, like climbing. ���

The pupils have had many opportunities to attend sporting events. Trips have included The Paralympics, a Manchester United match, BT Paralympic World Cup, Velodrome and the Chill Factor. ���

As an intervention method the PE department have set up links with Sky Sports program ‘Living for Sport’. Current GCSE students have been given a workshop aimed at improving their results by pro skateboarder Neil Danns���

Olympic Ambassadors���

Each year we have a selection of students that become Olympic Ambassadors. These students deliver breakfast clubs, form time activities and listen to students opinions on how to make PE lessons more enjoyable.���

At Key Stage 4 during core PE students are offered a personalised curriculum based on Leadership, Short Course GCSE PE and full course GCSE PE. The leadership group gain an accreditation from Sport Leaders UK and deliver a number of festival and activities to our feeder primary school. The short course GCSE group gain half a GCSE in PE and have to complete units of work in both the theory and practical elements of the course. The GCSE PE group have the chance to further enhance their practical scores by doing a number of additional sports like Orienteering, Personal Survival and have the use of the Fitness Suite at The Heath Business Park.���
