MARCH/APRIL 2015
WELCOME TO PARADISE!! When entering the unknown, it usually
helps to meet a friendly face and here at Para-
dise English, the first may just be that of Joy Yeban our
schools student greeter. With her wel-coming personality she ably
makes our students feel at home.
After students arrive at our dormitory or their resort Joy
greets them and takes the time to familiarize them with their
immediate surroundings and Boracay in general. Quite often Joy
shows the students some major landmarks such as White Beach,
ATMs, the shopping malls D Mall and D Talipapa, as well as specific
places to buy basic necessities like toiletries and food. Or, as
may be the case when travelling, sometimes luggage gets lost in
transit so Joy is there to affect recovery.
Being a greeter is not to everyones liking but Joy has a great
time meeting new students from around
the world. Although there are some language and cul-tural
differences there is a desire to get the students up
and running as smoothly as possible and Joy does just that.

MARCH/APRIL 2015 PARADISE ENGLISH
UP, UP, and AWAY
Having piloted hot air balloons all over the world for the past
34 years Jiri Vokal recently sold his business in The Czech
Republic and came to
Boracay to study English with us and enjoy his version of
Freedom 55.
Jiri started flying in 1981 so he could fly
like the birds in the open air and admire his be-loved
countryside. His passion has taken him around the globe to fly in
Albuquerque New Mex-
ico, Durango Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the Emirates,
Tanzania, Atacama Desert in Chile,
and of course throughout Europe. His most mem-orable flight was
taking off under a clear, star-lit
sky and three hours later witnessing the most breathtaking
sunrise over the Swiss Alps.
His business catered mostly to tourists with the vast majority
of his flights being the result of
gifts for birthdays, honeymoons, and anniver-saries. As with
such celebrations and of course
ballooning comes the highlight of any such occa-sion, the
obligatory champagne.
Jiri - the consummate host.

PARADISE ENGLISH MARCH/APRIL 2015
Our student David Terr from France recounts his trip to Ariels
Point with fellow students
On February 27, 2015, Paradise English orga-nized an outdoor
activity for the students. The plan?
Go to Ariels Point, a popular place for everyone in search of
fun, located on the mainland. After a 45-
minute boatride from Boracay and beers served on the route, we
discovered that very nice resort perched on a rock and from which
we can cliff dive. The view
from there was completely amazing!! Five different cliff diving
platforms were opened : 3-meters, 4-
meters, 5-meters, 8-meters and that frightening 15-meters high.
Adventurous students like our crazy
Russian Sergei and his mate David were the first to jump and
motivated the others. Most of the students tried to conquer their
fear of heights, but no one had
the courage to jump from the highest platform. Oooooh my god, it
was terrifying!!!
Ariels Point also offers kayaking and snorke-ling activity, a
good point for the guests who are too afraid to go cliff diving,
and for those who want to live the complete experience. Included in
their pack-
age are bbq buffet lunch, snacks and unlimited beve-rages.
We didnt notice how time passed by, but we definitely enjoyed
having the whole day and came
back to Boracay with a lot of new memories. Very good
experience!!

PARADISE ENGLISH MARCH/APRIL 2015
During their stay at Paradise English two of our students from
Japan, Tatsuto Fuji and Tatsuya Ishi, set up a shaved ice
refreshment station in order to test market their idea of
establishing a business here in Boracay. They chose to locate
their operation at Nagisa Cafe which just happens to be a Japanese
restaurant and just happens to be one of our students favourite
restaurants on the beach.
One of our students, Choi Hyeyoung (Hailey), reflects
on her favorite Japanese restaurant...
Nagisa is one of the most popular Japanese restautrants in
Boracay. They have delicious food,
kind staff, and a beautiful view too. They not only serve
Japanese food such as sushi, ramen and maki but also Filipino and
western food. I especially like
their katsudon which is rice covered with fried pork and eggs.
After a meal, I prefer to lie on a sun bed
with a fresh mango shake and watch a beautiful sun-set. Nagisa
is also a favourite meeting place of PE
students. I recommend this restaurant 100%!!!!!

something to do with a shortage of flowers.
