Editor: Cyndyann Joyner
Bluebills can be justifiably proud of the trust that has been developed
between ourselves and our partners.
This is illustrated to some extend by the fact that there is a degree of
cross-membership among our groups. Cyndyann Joyner (our FLYER
editor) is on the board of OlyCap. Jack Randall is on the board of
ECHHO. Valeria Vogt is a CEA member. Vicki Tallerico of CEA is their
representative to Bluebills and attends our meetings. Churck Sherred
was recently on the board of OAAA.
The gallery of photographs is on pages 4-11 and shows most of the
partner attendees.
Thanks to Jack McKay who did the photography. -- Myron

Last month we were fortunate for the opportunity to host a luncheon celebrating the relationship that exists between the Olympic Peninsula Bluebills and the Charitable Organizations with whom we partner. The purpose was to show our appreciation of them and the impact on the community that has resulted from their membership in this unique and unofficial partnership. If all of the tax exempt organizations that participate in this joint effort to make better the environment of those who we serve had been able to join us in this luncheon, the crowd could have filled a small stadium. As it was, approximately 20 of the organizations were represented. Many of those who were present had a few words to add to the presentation. Without exception, all contained a similar message that we are in this world together and the appreciation goes both ways.
This month the GIK warehouse was almost filled to capacity with items to fill the needs of so many. For example, we delivered approximately sixteen loads to various agencies mostly in Clallam County extending to Forks, Port Angeles, Sequim, and other communities. For a few large numbers we delivered 2,664 girls and children’s tees, tank tops, and sweaters; and over 1,000 mens T shirts, shorts, and women’s skirts, over a thousand men’s T shirts, shorts, and women’s skirts. Also we sent 40 boxes of women’s clothes. For these and all of the innumerous items we receive for delivery each month, we thank World Vision.
The picture is of Don Fishel from Clallam Bay with his truck/trailer load of GIK supplies. The items in the truck go to Neah Bay and from the trailer to Clallam Bay. Don delivers scrap metal each week to Tacoma and returns empty. Ted Muralt arranges for him to stop by Chimacum and pick up the GIK goods. It’s great to have the community participate in any of the Bluebill programs, and this is an example of one of the ways that they know what we do and are willing to help.

Recently we were requested to install a couple of grab bars for an elderly client. It turned out that the client really had a hard time paying for the grab bars (about$60). We often get referrals for clients from agencies who have no money to fund what the client needs. In these cases, the client has to pay for the material.
I passed on this situation to our partners at Real Estate Professional for Affordable Housing (REPAH), with a request for $300 that could be used for these small projects if no other funding was available. As usual, they agreed and Bluebills now have $300 to be used for small projects such as grab bars and railings.
Because Bluebills has no checking account, the fund is administered by Catholic Community Services.
If you have a client that fits the above circumstance, check with Donna Jones at CCS about using some of this
money. Call Donna at 360-405-0072 ext 26 or email [email protected].
REPAH is a Jefferson County organization so the funds should be used for clients in Jefferson.
Here is a nice note and picture from the client regarding the ramp we built for her and her husband yesterday. Jack.
Jack Hawker, Ken Winter, Ed Hughes, Bill Shain,
Dan Nordmark and Mike Graham worked on this project.
Hi Jack, Here is picture and note I sent to family members of the Impressive Boeing style team-work today. "Here is the ramp built by the Boeing Bluebills from Port Ludlow Cost for materials $639.00. Labor free through these volunteers that are contacted by Catholic Community Services when there is a need for home access by a ramp.
Boeing team-workers made a significant contribution here."

We seem to be getting more calls for ramps in the Bremerton and Port Orchard area. The one in this article was in Port Orchard. A short, worn old ramp needed to be removed, the stairs moved from the front of the landing to the side and a new ramp built going directly to the street.
The job was organized by Larry Elton. The client was referred to us by Catholic Community Services, who also provided insurance coverage for the job. Work crew members were Larry Elton, Jack Hawker, Ken Snider, Ken Winter, Bill Shain, Michael Graham and Myron Vogt. As a matter if interest westarted the ramp at 9:00 and finished by lunch time. A great crew and foreman!Myron

E d i t o r s C o r n e rMyron sent me an email last month after I had published the FLYER. He said "Hey Cyndyann! from the mailing list on my email it looks as though you have missed some members." That's because I send out the mailings in batches of 35-40 at a time, due to the constraints of the server that I use. Actually we are nearing 200 recipients now, so it's usually 4 mailings. It's wonderful that the words about what my fellow Bluebills do is so widely communicated and celebrated.
Which brings me to some points about the FLYER in general. As you can see Myron Vogt is the mainstay of the whole thing, by supplying me with the text and most of the photos. He is so steady and productive that we have no problem getting out a full issue every month. However, we both feel that it would be even better if we had submissions from our fellow Bluebills. Please send me your text and photos of Bluebill projects you are working on, memories or vignettes of Bluebill activities, and notes on your hobbies, families, social activites, etc. Due to the wide kinds of responses this may bring, we (Myron and I) need to have the autonomy to edit and even reject material, if necessary. Sometimes, due to space limitations things will need to wait until further issues or be drastically cut down in size. Please don't be put off by these limitations and rules, but send in whatever you want to share. Our FLYER will benefit from your participation.
Don't forget that our archive page, maintained by our Web Master, Ted Muralt, is your source for FLYER facts, trivia and research. I have been at this for 4 years now (we missed some early issues on this page) and there are a boatload of FLYERs there to check out. There is an index to every article. The address for this site is:http://www.bluebills.org/opbb/olympic-peninsula-bluebill-newsletters.html
Lastly, please add any names you want to the mailing list. There is no cost at all associated with the FLYER or the mailing, so have at it freely! Maybe you would like family or friends to see what you are up to. If there are any photos that you would like to have digital copies of just let me know please, I'll be happy to email you .jpg versions compressed for the web, just tell me the month and year and page number.
