Productivity when printing on thick paper
For details, go to page 16
Color stability has significantly improved thanks to
optimized development process control as well as color
density control using the IDC sensor. The paper density
sensor on RU-509 enables automatic calibration. These
have further boosted reliability, crucial in production
machines.
In addition to improved gradation processing and support
for FM screening, print resolution has also increased from
600 600dpi to 1,200 1,200dpi. Both text and images have
even better print quality, another step closer to offset
printing.
C7000/C6000 also has improved productivity.
In particular, the print speed for thick paper of
106 to 209gsm is significantly higher than C6501.
It also delivers better performance with automatic

Jagged lines produced by dots which make up the image. Caused by insufficient printing resolution.
In practice, overlapping

bigger than 10.6um, so REAL

Real 1,200dpi processing, from data processing to image writing
There are two attributes for comparing print quality. One is software resolution (process resolution of print
data processing) and the other is hardware resolution (physical resolution of writing unit).

We have invented a new compression and restoration

with a compression circuit on the controller side, and a
restoration circuit on the engine side. Text and images
are almost completely restored to 1,200dpi in full color.

Paper
Consistent gloss!A fusing belt is employed. The belt rubber is only
about 0.2 mm, which means the temperature
lowered by the passing paper returns quickly(has good thermal responsiveness). The long
fusing belt cycle is also an advantage in terms of
returning to the desired temperature.
Consistent edges!Because the lower roller contains bearings,
rotation during paper feed is very smooth andstable. There is no speed difference between the
center part and edges of the roller, producing a
consistent finish.
Fusing unit Fusing unit
Too unstable for a
production machine
C7000/C6000Reliable mechanism as production machine
Xerox 700Same mechanism as office printer
The fusing roller within the fuser maintains heat to melt and fuse the toner onto the paper as well
as to add gloss to the print. C7000/C6000 uses highly reliable fusing mechanism which
contributes gloss stability. On the other hand, Xerox 700 has a fusing unit with the same
mechanism as a compact printer, which does not provide the level of reliability required for a
production machine.
Fusing belt
Variation in gloss common
The rubber part of the fusing roller is about0.6mm, three times as thick as C7000, so it takes
longer for the temperature lowered by the
passing paper to return. In addition, the smaller
roller size (half of that of C7000) means that a
spot on the roller rotates and touches the paperin a shorter cycle, making it difficult to regain the
heat lost to the paper. As a result, variation in
gloss is more common.
Gloss irregularities can occur on the edgesThe lower roller has no bearings, so it does not
rotate smoothly, making it easier for distortion to
occur. This causes a speed difference between
the center part and edges of the fused surface, which may result in gloss irregularities on the
edges.
Does not rotate smoothly because there are no
bearings. Because it is made of soft resin, the
shape easily changed . It results in speed
difference between the center part and edges.
Reliable as a
production machine
Better gloss stability! Prone to gloss problems!
