Our market is usually one or two years
behind the rest of the world, so it is
essential for us to fly over to GILE and see
what is new on the market that we can
bring back. We are very satisfied with our
trip and have already decided to come
back next year.

We are the biggest manufacturer of
our kind in Turkey and have been in the
lighting industry for nearly 35 years. I
came to GILE to source outdoor and
indoor lighting, I have already met some
potential suppliers that meet my quality
requirements and placed orders with
them. The fair is very effective as it
allows me to find a wide range of
suppliers that can produce good quality
products that are reasonably priced.

Exhibitors’
objective
GILE is one of the most influential platforms for the
development of the lighting and LED industry. The show
covers everything from raw materials and equipment to
applications and finished products. This enables us to
connect with clients throughout the entire supply chain as
well as discuss technological know-how with other
exhibitors. We strongly recommend the fair to our industry
peers and will be back again next year.
Mr Guo Zhijun, Deputy General Manager, Everfine Corporation
GILE is an influential lighting exhibition with

Chip Scale Package (CSP) technologyCSP simplifies packaging processes by allowing more flexible and compact LED module and fixture designs to reduce overall system costs.
Driver on board (DoB) technology DoB packages power drivers directly onto circuit boards to minimize the light source size. DoB solutions are easy to install, have cost-effective drivers and adjustable lightning sources
Filament LEDA hot item at GILE 2016, filament bulbs combine the benefits of LED lamps with the design of incandescent bulbs that is valued by traditionalists.
Specialised lighting applications
UV packages with different wavelengths can be broadly applied to industrial PCB colloid curing , printer dryers, money verifiers, nailing curing and tanning machines. Also exhibited were radiation-, lead- and mercury-free UV/IR LED modules that are ideal for outdoor lighting applications. Horticultural LED lighting with small form factors, high efficiency and long service life, provide flexibility for growers. Dimmable and controllable, these LEDs can be easily set in cycles to promote plant growth.
Technology
exhibitors
I totally agree with the fair’s
new theme this year because
the whole industry is indeed
adopting a new perspective.
Nowadays, innovation is 10
times more important than it
was five years ago because
the lighting source has
changed to LED. As a leading
company in the market, we
see Guangzhou International
Lighting Exhibition as a great
platform for presenting our
ideas, marketing our brand,
maintaining relationships with
our current customers and
building new relationships
with prospective partners. Our
participation also reinforces
our presence in the industry.
Maybe 20 years ago, people
came to the fair to place
orders on the spot, but now,
the fair is for establishing
relationships and making new
business contacts. In short,
this fair one of the most
significant events for us.

The show, for us, is a meeting
point for existing partners,
finding new ones and
connecting with component
suppliers. Frankly speaking, I
am happy about this exhibition
and it gives us good results.
We have been able to achieve
all of our objectives here and
we will return.
Ms Chiara Fumagalli, Commercial
Director, Fumagalli (Italy)
We have been participating in
the fair since the beginning
and it is becoming much more
international. It seems more
than half of the visitors are
now from outside of China.
GILE is also a platform for us
to showcase new products,
explore market trends and see
how the people are using our
materials. Overall, we have
been very busy and our
meetings are scheduled back-
to-back. The feedback we
have received so far has been
fantastic and we are quite
satisfied. The fair is becoming
more important and its future
is definitely going to be a
positive one.

New dimensions of lights
Guest speaker and lighting designer for the City of
Malmö in Sweden, Mr Johan Moritz, explained: “Everyone
is talking about big data, smart cities, artificial intelligence
and the IoT. Lighting is not only about energy efficiency
anymore but more about delivering human-centric solutions
and comfort to human beings.”
Mr Lear Hsieh, President of the Chinese Lighting
Designer Association, shares similar views. He adds:
“Lighting in the future will be a combination of various
technologies and it will automatically adjust according to
human behaviours. Devices for lighting and ambiance will
eventually be indistinguishable and we will only see the
light, instead of the housings, that we ought to see.”
Seminars and expert dialogue stimulated exploration
the new dimensions of lighting
Mr Toshiki Nakata – Japan Optical Liquid Product
Development Group Leader, Dow Corning (Japan)
“Attending this fair enables us to see and be seen in the
market. Our participation demonstrates our strong presence
and GILE is huge compared to any other conferences.
Here, we can connect with industry professionals and
competitors to better understand the real market situation
and dynamics. The exhibition also provides me a good
chance to learn how many players are in the industry and
how active they are. China and some other Southeast Asian
countries are our target markets so it is important for us to
be present at this centrally located fair to meet our clients.
Also, we can influence and educate players on better
product design of LED packaging. I would recommend this
event especially to those who want to have business in
China.”

insights
Sustainability, digitalisation and individualisation are gaining ever-increasing importance.
Lighting will expand beyond basic illumination and play a more integral role in the daily lives of users, possessing the ability to improve one’s circadian rhythms and mood, optimise work performance, heighten security and improve overall health.
Light is a delicate art of creating balance between atmosphere and functionality.
Light doesn’t just make things bright. It turns a room into an experience as well as accentuates and reinterprets the architecture.
Light creates experience – when it presented correctly.
Lighting as a service – it is an asset, properly designed and optimised lighting system can have significant impact on an organisation’s financial bottom line.
In the near future, we will see more and more controllable light. This will lead to a lot of innovations over the next time.
