TANYA GABRIELIAN • tue | Oct. 10, 2017Hailed by the London Times as “a pianist of powerful physical and imaginative muscle,” Tanya Ga-brielian has captivated audiences worldwide with her gripping performances. She shot onto the international stage at the age of 20 with back-to-back victories in the Scottish International Piano Competition and Aram Khachaturyan International Piano Competition. She is dedicated to com-munity engagement, education, and activism through art – especially highlighting the stigma around mental health issues by working with the National Alliance on Mental Health. She will be working locally with the Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center during her IPS residency. Gabrielian is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London and The Juilliard School.generously sponsored by the remington master artist series ALESSIO BAX + LUCILLE CHUNG • tue | Nov. 14, 2017 Pianists Alessio Bax and Lucille Chung - acclaimed as soloists, with first prizes at the Leeds, Hama-matsu, and Stravinsky International Piano Competitions - are also a renowned duo. Describing the artistry of the husband-and-wife team, the UK magazine Music and Arts states: “Theirs is a mar-riage of wondrous colours and dextrous aplomb, subtly balanced to make a musical performance sound as one.” They have released four highly praised albums as a duo featuring music of Poulenc, Stravinsky, Brahms and Piazzolla on the Signum Classics label, and Ligeti on the Dynamic label. IGOR LIPINSKI • tue | Feb. 13, 2018Dr. Igor Lipinski made his American orchestra debut with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra on NPR’s Performance Today, and has performed as soloist with numerous orchestras including the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, Woodstock Mozart Festival Orchestra, and Paderewski Symphony Orchestra at Chicago’s Symphony Center. Lipinski is also an award-winning magician: after an unusual collaboration with the legendary magician Teller from the duo Penn & Teller, Lipinski won the WQXR’s Classical Comedy Contest at Caroline’s on Broadway. His program of “Piano Illusions,” a concert of music and magic, has since been featured throughout the U.S. He is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and Northwestern University, and is on faculty at the University of Oklahoma.

BARRY DOUGLAS • tue | March 13, 2018Irish pianist Barry Douglas, winner of the Silver Medal at the 1985 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and of the First Prize at the 1986 Tchaikovsky International Piano Competi-tion, is truly a legendary figure in classical music. He was awarded the “Order of the British Empire” in 2002 for services to music. He has been widely recorded on the Chandos label, and is currently recording the complete piano works of Brahms. He serves as Artistic Director of Cam-erata Ireland and of the Clandeboye Festival. As stated by The Guardian: “Amid the compulsive hyping that affects classical music, Barry Douglas remains defiantly and admirably grounded… Douglas’s powerful playing always compels and rewards attention.”
