Learning Intention / Overview This quiz will access students’ understanding of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Ronald Dahl. Students will read closely to determine what the text says explicitly as well as make logical inferences about characters and events from the story. Students will also answer questions about key ideas, theme, and other literary elements. This quiz will include questions from knowledge and reasoning standards.
Activity 1: Allow students to get into small groups and discuss Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Remind students to review the characters, problem, solution, and important events from the chapter book. Once they are finished or in about 10-‐15 minutes, have the students go back to individual seats for quiz sheet.
Activity 2: Distribute quiz handouts to each student. The quiz will access students’ understanding of the chapter book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

16. THE BUCKET FAMILY LIVED TOGETHER WHICH INCLUDED THE MATERNAL AND PATERNAL GRANDPARENTS AS WELL AS MR. AND MRS. BUCKET WITH THEIR SON CHARLIE. THEY LIVE IN A SMALL TWO ROOM WOODEN HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF TOWN. THERE WAS ONLY ONE BED WHICH BOTH SETS OF GRANDPARENTS USED. MR. AND MRS. BUCKET ALONG WITH CHARLIE SLEPT ON MATTRESSES ON THE FLOOR. IN THE WINTER THE COLD DRAFT MADE THE LIVING CONDITIONS WORSE. THE FAMILY HAD LITTLE FOOD AND MONEY.
17. THE SQUIRRELS LANDED ON HER BODY WHEN SHE TRIED TO GET ONE. THE SQUIRRELS BEGAN TO TEST HER TO SEE IF SHE WAS A BAD NUT. WHEN THEY DETERMINED HER BAD THEY SENT HER DOWN THE GARBAGE CHUTE.

20. CHARLIE IS GIVEN THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY AT THE END OF THE BOOK. THIS IS BECAUSE HE IS THE ONLY KID LEFT OUT OF THE FIVE WHO BEGAN THE TOUR. HE IS LEFT BECAUSE HE FOLLOWED THE RULES OF THE TOUR.
