Now the serpent was more crafty

Genesis 3:1

than any other beast of the field thatthe Lord God had made. He said tothe woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in thegarden’…? ”

And the woman said to the serpent,

Genesis 3:2-3

“We may eat of the fruit of the treesin the garden, but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die…’.”

But the serpent said to the woman,

Genesis 3:4-5

‘You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it youreyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good andevil….”

So when the woman saw that the

tree was good for food, and that itwas a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate,and she also gave some to her

husband who was with her, and he

Genesis 3:6

ate….

“Sin, in the final analysis, is rebellion against the

sovereign Creator, Ruler, and Judge of the universe.

It resists the rightful prerogative of a sovereign

Ruler to command obedience from His

subjects.

“…It says to an absolutely holy and righteous God

that His moral laws, which are a reflection of His own nature, are not worthy of

our wholehearted obedience.”

Then the eyes of both were

Genesis 3:7

opened, and they knew that theywere naked. And they sewed figleaves together and made them-selves loincloths….

And they heard the sound of the

Lord walking in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid them-selves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden….

But the Lord God called out to the

Genesis 3:9-10

man and said to him, “Where are you…?”

But the Lord God called out to the

man and said to him, “Where are you?” And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and Iwas afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself….”

I was afraid

because I was naked

so I hid myself

He said, “Who told you that you

were naked? Have you eaten of thetree of which I commanded you not to eat…?”

The man said, “The woman whom

you gave to be with me, she gave me some fruit of the tree, and I ate.”Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The

Genesis 3:15

and the woman, and between youroffspring and her offspring; he shall crush your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”

Son, Jesus Christ.
