Dear Tony Pasquale,I have the pleasure of enclosing my CV for your consideration for any work opportunities you may have within your buying team.
I am currently in my second year at Nottingham Trent University, studying Ba Hons, Fashion Communication and Promotion and through several of my business and retail modules I have gained a great interest within retail buying and would love to be able to begin my career within your buying team.
Working for you would be a fantastic way for me to build on my management skills, due to strict deadlines, it would build my confidence and liaison skills, as working with other departments, reviewing and presenting new ranges and participation in promotional activities and trade fairs require great interactional and articulation.
I have a range of previous experience, firstly in two buying internships within Tesco’s Centeral European boyswear buying department and the head buying office at International Marks and Spencer in Shanghai. During these very relevant experiences, I was introduced to a broad spectrum of the fashion and design industry and covering different aspects from directly dealing with strict deadlines, designing creative material and inspiration, giving administrative assistance, to learning international buying cycles, all of which gave a thorough understanding of the workings and job roles of a fashion buyer.
In addition to this I have worked as a retail assistant in a menswear shop, a design assistant in an interior designer, a cafe and in a silver service restaurant, I have completed two diverse marketing internships in Shanghai, one of which I am still working for.
This diverse range of experience in four very relevant internships alongside other experience I have carried out have greatly increased my negotiation, time management and communication skills. Each of these roles have allowed me to develop my organisation, creative and numerical thinking within business and has allowed to me to work well supporting a team and independently.
I am incredibly organised and hardworking, and this together with my enthusiasm for retail buying and passion for Urban Outfitters due to it’s excellent reputation for great value and good quality clothing has lead me to apply for this job.
Many thanks for considering my application and I look forward to hearing from you in due course.
Yours sincerely,
Holly Riddington

>> East Meets WestChina is rapidly growing, the Western worlds’ developed economies are growing at extremely slow rates and globalisation is in full force. Providing easy access for the swapping, mixing and mingling of paradoxical cultures, Chinese prints, apparel styles and attitudes have worked their way onto the fashion runways, all the way to the high streets of the Western world.
I wanted to take account of how fashions have been thrown too and fro across oceans and how similarly, or differently they have been adopted in very socially and politically different environments. I started my style chase in the city of Shanghai, contrasting to my destination in Nottingham.

Hi Si, Since reading your responses to FCP's question task, we feel we want to get to know you a little better as you are a new member of the team :) We would appreciate it if you could spare us a few minutes to answer these questions. 1. What has been your most enjoyable/memorable campaign/company to work with? 2. What would you hate to see on your business card? 3.Which of these features would you like on a business card? Thank you for your time! Love the One Step Ahead Team
I have really enjoyed my own businesses - excitement of start up,
branding, new sales etc. I like making connections and building success and
the fluidity and energy of it all.

We’ve learnt...
We’d do this differently...
And take this forward...
• Good communica+on is key within group work, its important everybody gets a say and ensures the same ques+ons don’t’ get asked. • Asking the correct ques+ons is crucial when branding. – finding out what a client does not want is just as important as what they do want. • Always con+nue to develop your ideas, as can lead to stronger outcomes.
• Think about the outcome before jumping into the project.
• Realising what the task in hand is. • How to keep a strong work ethic within a group. • Experimenta+on, and development of key ideas. • Looking at different perspec+ves, and listening to others views and visions.
From this project...
Thank You
