What’s new in PD Policy?

Page 2: PD 68 Policy Revision

The BEST thing! We now have a THREE YEAR PLAN!

Page 3: PD 68 Policy Revision

Three Year Plan?

Why is that a good thing?

Page 4: PD 68 Policy Revision

The Three Year Plan• You can “save” your PD funds to go to a big

event.• You can PLAN forward to develop strategies

for professional growth that fit your individual needs.

Page 5: PD 68 Policy Revision

The Three Year Plan

How does the plan work?

What’s the supplemental fund?

Page 8: PD 68 Policy Revision

Supplemental Fund

Unused PD funds will be put into a supplemental fund that teachers can apply to on a first come, first serve basis up to $300 for workshops (not resources or fees) once their individual funds are exhausted.

The Three Year Plan

Will we still be able to share our

individual funds with others?

Page 12: PD 68 Policy Revision

Can I share funds with a colleague?

No. We have developed a system where we all have the same access to unused funds (supplemental funds).

The Three Year Plan

But can we pool funds as a staff?

Page 14: PD 68 Policy Revision

Can we pool funds as a staff?• If individual teachers on your staff wanted to

contribute for a presenter, they may. This is simply another way to get PD: it comes to you instead of you going to it!

• NOTE: We honour teacher autonomy. We accept that one individual on staff might not wish to contribute, but will prefer to learn differently.

The Three Year Plan

Will we still be able to apply for

summer funds?

Page 16: PD 68 Policy Revision

Summer Funds

We no longer have summer funds. Rather than redistribute unused funds each year, each member can retain funds for three years. However, members can still use their individual funds for summer PD.

The Three Year Plan

What if I don’t use my funds within

the three years?

Page 18: PD 68 Policy Revision

Unused Individual Funds

• After three years, unused funds will be redistributed to our community through the supplemental funds.

• After three years, you will begin a new “three year plan.”
