Ellie Oyen scored the first goal in the middle of the first half off an assist from Alissa Levenick. Addie Clarey then got an unassist- ed goal, and Nicole Gathman added the third goal on a breakaway after a nice feed from Clarey. The only goal of the second half was a beauty, as Nicole Powell sent in a perfectly placed corner kick and Emma Kartheiser headed it in to put Century up 4-0. No. 3 seed Century had just enough to beat No. 6 Owatonna 4-3, while No. 5 John Marshall traveled to No. 4 seed Lakeville North and lost 5-2. Mayo, which is ranked third in the state, overpowered the Tigers at every position. The Spartans won all seven match- es in straight sets.
