Military Services served by the pastoral leadership of our priest(s), deacon(s), and

gious. The community is dedicated to exemplifying Christian community by procla

ing the Good News of Jesus Christ through worship, service, and witness to the pe

of Fort Gordon and surrounding communities.

    Monday & Wednesday: 11:30amSaturday: 5:00pmSunday: 8:30am and 10:00am

    RECONCILIATIONSaturday: 4:00pm-4:45pmSunday: 7:45am-and 9:30am

    Scripture

I was a shepherd and a dresser of sycamores. (Amos 7:14)

...he set forth in him as a plan for the fullness of times,to sum up all things in Christ, in heaven and on earth. (Ephesians 1:10)

He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stickno food, no sack, no money in their belts. (Mark 6:8)

    Reflection

    What is essential with God?

What do you leave behind to find God (or for God to find you?)

What blocks Jesus? (from working through you?)

To those who love money and pleasure and reputation and power it says:- be poor, go down into the far end of society,- take the last place among men,- live with those who are despised,- love other men and serve them- instead of making them serve you.

Do not fight when they push you around, but pray for those who hurt you.Do not look for pleasure, but turn away from things that satisfy your senses

    - and look for God in hunger and thirst and darkness,- through the deserts of the spirit in which it seems to be madness to travel.

Take upon yourself the burden of Christs Cross,- that is Christs humility and poverty and obedience and renunciation,- and you will find peace for your soul1

    VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Longsuffering as the Fruit of the Spirit. Written by Pete MillerPatience and Endurance are Traits of those who are able to Suffer Long

alatians 5:22 and 23 lists the fruit of the Spirit. Spiritual fruit takes time to develop and indicates Christian maturity. Christian churches are made up of pf all ages, from many different backgrounds, and God knows it takes patience and understanding to work harmoniously and blend the diversity of persoes. Longsuffering is a necessary quality so that His people can effectively work together and accomplish His purposes. The modern definition of this wondure injury or trouble, is misleading. In its Biblical usage, longsuffering is forbearance with people, showing patience in spite of differences. Perhaps est be understood as being long on love.

ongsuffering is not tolerance, nor is the word tolerance ever used in the Bible. Tolerance is used today to mean acceptance, open-mindedness, a lenienton-judgmental position toward differing opinions and practices. This is not the position of God's Word. Sinful behavior is not to be tolerated. Christians aut off worldly ways and replace them with Christ-like ways.

s in the Old Testament, the New Testament instructs believers to live a holy life, and those who refuse to comply are not to be tolerated, but are responsihange their ways before they are welcomed back into the church. Habitual sinful practices are to be confronted in the church, with the purpose of restorestoration of someone overtaken in an error requires longsuffering. This keeps the household of God spiritually pure, and therefore brings unity.

od loves unity, and lovingly urges His people to be patient with each other, to "walk worthy ... with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, beith one another in love."(Ephesians 4:1, 2) God's Word defines its terms and makes clear how God wants His people to conduct themselves. " Therefoe elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one anoth

nyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do."(Colossians 3:12, 13)

od is the perfect example. "But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth." (Psalm 86:1ealing with people, no one can match God's patience. Living in this world of constant spiritual conflict, people are distracted from truth by the adversaryeople have challenges, and are at various levels of spiritual maturity. But each person is valuable to God, and all throughout time, God has given phance after chance to come to Him. "The Lord ... is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentanceeter 3:9) As children of God, Christians are to imitate Him.etrieved from http://www.sharefaith.com

Am I Accountable For My Sin?

Accountability is being responsible to someone else. This usually includes reporting in, receiving feedback, xplaining and answering questions. Just as a child is accountable to his parent for his behavior and an em-loyee is accountable to his employer to perform assigned work, Christians should be accountable to God forheir thoughts, words and actions.

God placed overseers in the church, not only to do the work of the ministry but to teach and guide believers

n their growth in Christ. Romans chapter 13 teaches that all believers are to be subject to the leadership inhe church. "Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same." But if a believer does evil, he is ac-ountable to the leadership, who will 'execute wrath,' which means that he will confront the one doing

misdeeds and correct the behavior. If the evil practices continue, further steps may be necessary. Yet, ac-ountability is not always a negative experience.

Having preached and set up a church in Thessalonica, Paul journeyed to Athens but sent Timothy back toheck on believers and encourage them. Timothy's report brought Paul great comfort. "For this reason, whencould no longer endure it, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter had tempted you, and

ur labor might be in vain. But now that Timothy has come to us from you, and brought us good news of your

aith and love, and that you always have good remembrance of us, greatly desiring to see us, as we also to

ee you -- therefore, brethren, in all our affliction and distress we were comforted concerning you by your

aith."(1 Thessalonians 3:5-7) Timothy was accountable to carry out his assignment issued by Paul and toeport back in detail, giving an honest and accurate account of the situation and conditions he had observed.

n Acts chapters 10 and 11, Peter and six believers went to the gentile household of Cornelius where Peterreached and witnessed the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on every member of that group. Peter knew he

would have to account for his actions back in Jerusalem. Peter knew he would be called in question becauseews were forbidden to eat with Gentiles according to the law. Peter knew he was accountable, but he wasrepared, and had the testimony of his six companions to back him up. Peter reported how the Gentiles hadeceived the Holy Spirit, just as they had on the day of Pentecost. "When they heard these things they becameilent; and they glorified God, saying, 'Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.'"(Acts1:18)

The Bible teaches that all people will someday stand before God in judgment, either for rewards or for pun-ishment. "So then each of us shall giveaccount of himself to God.",/i> (Romans

    14:12). Even though Christian believers

have been declared justified and right-

eous in Christ, they are still responsible

for their actions as God's redeemedpeople. For we must all appear before

the judgment seat of Christ, that each

one may receive the things done in the

body, according to what he has done,

whether good or bad. (2 Corinthians

    5:10)

    Hebrews 4:13 teaches that nothing

and no one is unseen by God "but all

things are naked and open to the eyes of

Him to whom we must give account."

    Accountability keeps people honest and

reminded of their commitments, to God

    first, and to people.

None of which is to deny that the Perry emerges in this profile has her moral st

We also see her making apparently extdinary -- though, sadly, unsuccessful -- efto salvage her short-lived marriage to Brcomedian and actor Russell Brand.

The pop diva's outlook on her Chriupbringing -- both Perry's parents are Pentetal ministers -- is more ambiguous. She exitly asserts her belief in God, but states unlike Mom and Dad, she's not necessaril

Either way, only those viewers seasenough to sort it all through should make way to the box office.

The film contains some suggestive ouand dancing, mature references, includinhomosexual behavior, obvious double endres, childish scatological humor, at leastmild oath, a censored crude term and a bcrass language. The Catholic News Ser
