Hon’ble Shri Vipul Goel, Cabinet Minister, Hary-ana Govt. (Ministries of Industry & Commerce, Environment and Indus-

trial Training) was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Smt Satya Bhalla, Chief Patron, MREI; Dr Prashant Bhalla, Pres-ident, MREI; Dr Amit Bhalla, Vice Presi-dent, MREI; Dr N.C. Wadhwa, Vice Chan-cellor, MRIU; Dr Sanjay Srivastava, Vice Chancellor, MRU; Faridabd Navchetna Trust Trustees Shri H.K. Batra, Shri K.C. Lakhani, Shri Narender Gupta, Shri Na-vdeep Chawla, Shri S.K. Kapoor; as also Lion H.S. Banga; Shri S.K. Syal, CEO, Bharti Realty among others graced the occasion.

The day began with floral tributes at ‘Prerna Sthal’ where the magnificent

statute of Dr O.P. Bhalla was bedecked with flowers and petals. Melodious bha-jans by the students of Manav Rachna International School, Charmwood, fur-ther added to the solemnity of the occa-sion. In harmony with Manav Rachna’s tradition of invoking the blessings of the Almighty, a Havan ceremony was also held at the campus.

Inaugurating the Blood Donation Camp, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister Shri Vipul Goel said: “I am deeply over-whelmed by the dedication and compas-sion shown by the Manav Rachna family towards the cause of Blood Donation in commemorating Dr O.P. Bhalla’s exem-plary mission towards societal good. By volunteering to donate blood, members of the Manav Rachna family have shown what it means to have a large heart and

lend unconditional support to help save lives.”

Dr Prashant Bhalla, President, MREI, said, “The generosity and zeal of our students in donating blood gives me im-mense pride for it enshrines the values that we have been inculcating among them. The Blood Donation camp or-ganized every year, is a tribute to our Founder Father Dr O.P. Bhalla, who made it his life’s mission to dedicate himself towards societal improvement in spheres such as health, education, development of housing societies and the like. In many ways, the Blood Dona-tion camp symbolises his philanthropic mission as we pledge to sustain Dr. O.P. Bhalla’s legacy and continue our jour-ney.

A Mega Blood Donation Camp was organized at Manav Rachna to pay homage to of Dr. O.P. Bhalla on his 3rd death anniversary. The entire Manav Rachna family paid homage to the great visionary and Founding Father. The Blood Donation Camp in association with the Lions Club, Rotary Club, Faridabad Central; and Rotary Club Arth. 1208 units of blood was collected on September 16, 2016.

Resurrection 2K16 got revitalized at the Manav Rachna University Campus on the 6,7, and 8 of October 2016! Resurrection 2K16 was a dream come true. A full year of hard work by the Stu-dents Welfare group under guidance of The Management, was apparent since it left one and all mesmerized! The audience, the participants and the guests enjoyed every moment which was full of excitement, enthusiasm and energy. It was exuberance...

College days :new experienceThe first day of my college life was around four months ago: I was nervous

and didn’t know what to expect from this new phase in my life. Today, I stand

a more confident and experienced person. I am no longer the shy school girl.

I feel campus life has made me aware of different friends and experiences. At

the Manav Rachna University, I got a chance to witness many guest lectures,

media conclave and ofcourse the Fest. I have never ever experienced a Fest

of such great and big scale. Next year I wish I will be able to participate in

organizing it.

College life exposes you to many difficult challenges, but you learn to grow

and learn with friends from different backgrounds. Our Faculty is very

co-operative and understanding and I feel college life is great! And the best

period of my life.

When I escorted the Mascot ‘Ronze’‘It was a pleasure to take ‘Ronze’ the mascot for Resurrection2K16 around the campus. I , Tifaque Ali, of BJMC, Ist year

was the security guard for the mascot. I was given the responsibility of escorting ‘Ronze’ around the campus where

different activities were happening. Everyone who saw the mascot started clapping and shaking hands with him. I felt

good because, it gave me the opportunity to be of help during the Fest.

According to me, this Fest which was organized by MRIU and MRU was very good and we enjoyed every minute.

Being the security for the mascot, I also got opportunity to take pictures with celebrity. I will always remember Resur-

rection and look forward to the next one where I can contribute and help more.

If you ignore time‘We watch many inspirational videos many real life stories of success many biographies of successful persons but what

we learn actually is nothing. Do you know why?? Because we gradually lose our mindset to do something.. We ignore

our opportunities ----

We know what is good for us but we are not serious about our life..

We have to change our mindset and the way of thinking. We have to be serious.

For example- suppose you are given a single chance for a free trip to New York or to work in a movie wouldn’t you

like to do it. Those who don’t want to do it do not want do anything..

In the same manner you are given a life which you can’t live 25 times you have only one single life and you have to

do something so that the time when you’re dying you could say I have lived my life well. There are a lot of things which

if you obey can change your life. You have to choose the right path. As a student, I feel, life gives you many opportu-

nities. College life is a phase where everyone gets an opportunity to learn and experience. So choose what is good for

you. Make the most of your time and opportunity: because time waits for no one and these days of experience and

learning will be lost if you don’t take advantage.

Independence Day‘Vande Matram’ was the mantra of the day .FMEH celebrated SWARAJYA celebrating 70 years of India’s Indepen-

dence. The guest of honour at the function was Dr. N.C. Wadhwa who motivated the students to contribute to the

welfare of the society .Dean FMEH Dr. Neemo Dhar said ,”All of you are the brand ambassadors of FMEH.” She hoped

that department of FMEH would create their own identity. The students started on an auspicious note with the dance

on Ganesh Vandana .The seniors put a patriotic song and street play on the way of celebrating Independence Day

earlier and the way of celebrating it in present times. Certificates were also distributed by HOD. Dr. Suresh Nayak and

Dr. Shivani .We all left feeling patriortic and having enjoyed the day with fun and dance.

My Experience At The Media ConclaveInspiration and knowledge was vibrating in the atmosphere on 30th August

when the National Media conclave was hosted at Manav Rachna Interna-

tional University by FMeH. Witnessing the great personalities from the media

world brought about a big change in my thoughts related to the system and

the society. Success truly comes with knowledge. The guests motivated us to

widen our spectra of observation and free ourselves from any hesitation and

fear. One might come across the faults of the system, corruption, and domi-

nance but we should keep a tight hold of our motives and keep aiming fur-

ther for their achievements. Each guest presented their own view points but

one thing was in common that was the strength of never giving up. It was an

experience which would always have an impact in my life. I’m very grateful

to FMeH for organizing this media conclave. It brought about a new hope

among the students of not only the media studies but to the whole depart-

ment of humanities. It would not have been possible without the support of

the faculties of media studies, my great thanks to the Dr. Neemo Dhar for

such great chance. I hope we will keep having such experiences in future for

the better upbringing of the students.

The all new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus were launched on September

7, 2016. And to my opinion: they’re the best, fastest, strongest iPhones yet.

So what is so new about the new iPhone?

• The new iPhones are water and dust-resistant

• The biggest change in the new iPhone 7 is the removal of headphone

jack which now comes with lightning earpads

• Also it has a dongle for using the headphones.

• The iPhone 7 may look like the iPhone 6, but it works better.

• The 7’s screen is brighter than the 6S, The earpiece now doubles as a

speaker, so you get surround sound out of the phone.

• It’s not great, or even good, but it’s much better than the 6S.

• The best thing is that the iPhone 7’s internal storage starts at 32GB and

goes up to 256GB.

Phones are a passion not only with me, but with generation X .The new

phone is the Googlepixel which was launched in October 2016 .The features

of this phone are different from the existing in the market, especially when

compared to iphone 7.

According to me the phone is good but the price is not too good The Goo-

gle pixel has some new features but not worth it for the high price. Accord-

ing to Vineet Singh, a student, “the phone is better than many because the

phone comes with latest android 7.0 and new processor is good too.”

Come visit Assam and go back enriched with experience which is bound to be exotic, excit-ing and enchanting!

Born in a small town in Silchar, I have fond memories of the

beautiful surrounding and most of all the climate which was so wonderful throughout the year. Surrounded and growing up in a cosmopolitan surrounding since I did my schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya, I grew up with the in-fluence of the river Brahmaputra. Fish was our staple diet as is with most Assamese who enjoy it with the heap of rice and the world famous Bhoot Jolokhia chilly. During the vacations my parents often took the family the tea gar-dens which was a luxury of green and wealth. But my favourite was the Kamakhya Temple . I have grown with fond memories of my lovely state of Assam and when it was time to leave for north India, I wondered how I would adjust to a brand new culture. But it has been a challenge but which has been

enjoyable.Let me take you around a trip of my beautiful state: ASSAM : known primarily for its tea plantations on one hand and the mind numbering paradox of birds committing suicide at Jatin-ga, all makes up the beautiful state of Assam. A state in northeastern India popular for its wildlife and archaeological sites, besides the scenic beauty which makes the visitor to come back again and again to this eastern state of India. The state capital is Dispur. The cultural heritage of this beautiful state dates back to early 13th cen-tury when Ahom kings travelled from Thailand through northern Myanmar and ruled for 600 years.

K.Kilam, Dean Students Welfare and Ms Sangita Banga, director Student Welfare burnt the mid night oil with student co-ordi-nators Divyanshu Huria from FET MRIU, Nishu Goel form IT, MRU and Sakshi Gupta from MRDC to make Resurrection 2K16 a thumping success! “We have been working round the clock for the past 7-8 months. But the tension began to build up the last month and we had to burn the midnight oil,” say the 3 co-ordinators. “We dec-orated the campus and made it lively and saw to it that the flag of Manav Rachna flew high and mighty.” When asked what changes they would like to make next year, Nishu says, “Proba-bly we could do better as far as decorating the campus went. We would make it more colour-ful and lively,” she said. “ The Management lent us all their

support and we knew that ev-ery step there was someone to guide us. The Fest was truly a learning experience and each day taught us something new, “ says Divyanshu . Sakshi felt, “Al-though stressful each moment was fun and finally when the appreciation came it was worth every minute of the hard work.”

The 3-day power packed cul-tural extravaganza, presented a whole gamut of 30 plus Cultur-al Events ranging from Dance, Music, Arts, Photography, The-atre, Literary to Adventure ac-tivities as over 10,000 spectators is expected to soak in the fun and entertainment. A whole host of 100 plus colleges from Delhi-NCR and beyond includ-ing IIT, Kharagpur, NIT Kuruk-shetra, Lady Shri Ram College, Amity University, GGSIP, and the like comprising over 3,000 participants are taking part in this mega event.

Resurrection 2K16, themed on ‘Superheroes & Villains’ fur-ther witnessed the introduction of ‘Ronze’, a superhero and the mascot of Resurrection, sym-bolizing peace.

Priyadarshani Chatter-jee-Femina Miss India World 2016 was at Resurrection 2K16 to judge Miss India Organiza-tion Campus Princess Auditions . The students also made waves with a Fashion show as they walked the ramp with great pa-nache.

The Euphoria band on Octo-ber 7, 2016 led by lead singer Pa-lash Sen set the trend to the fun which was in store for the next 3 days. Euphoria performed at the Fest’s Coke Studio Night where the ‘music meets happi-ness’ mantra was amply evident throughout the Band’s power packed performance.

The second day was dedicat-ed to EDM (Electronic Dance Music) night With Sunburn Campus at Resurrection 2K16, the audience got to soak in some electrifying music that got them swaying and dancing to the beats!

While international DJ Candice Redding whipped up a storm, DJ Shaan brought in an element of surprise. Over 10, 000 students were delirious with excitement. Earlier the Cam-pus came alive as participants showcased their talent in Graffi-ti, Western Dance, Classical Solo Dance, Street Play, Street Soccer , Mono acting and a Games quiz. Besides the home Teams from Manav Rachna, participants from institutions like Maitreyi College, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, College of Vocational Studies, GTBIT, to name a few.

Resurrection 2K16 saw the grand culmination with Bolly-wood Nite as singer Benny Dayal and Hindi Band Astitva enter-tained the vast throng of young audiences with Bollywood hits.

The Nite with its over 15,000-strong crowd also wit-nessed Hindi band Astitva, a

multi genre band, striking an instant rapport with the au-dience.. What they also gifted were their trademark t-shirts which further heightened the crowd’s euphoria and joy!

The third day had competi-tions like the Hindi and Western Solo singing finals, origami and quilling, classical solo dance,

slam poetry (in association with Delhi Poetry Slam), battle of bands, street soccer not to men-tion Muqabla-e-filmi and can-vas painting. Resurrection 2K16 left memories for students of not just Manav Rachna but also of Delhi-NCR and beyond and they all await the next Resurrec-tion with greater expectations.

As many as 59 colleges including Amity Uni-versity, G.D. Goenka,

Sushant School of Art and Architecture, MBS School of Planning and Architecture, Jamia Millia Islamia partic-ipated in the event which earned a place in the Limca Book of Records with the larg-est Footprint painting that was put together at the event. Punjabi singer Indeep Bakshi also set foot tapping with his rhythmic Punjabi numbers at the mega event. The Con-vention featured seminars, lectures panel discussions, workshops on bamboo, fold-ing in architecture (origami architecture), brick jaali, and events such as glass paint-ing, best out of waste, soap carving, canvas painting, wall graffiti, which made the event full of creativity and en-thusiasm . The theme for the Convention is ‘askew’, draw-ing inspiration from the late Ar Zaha Hadid’s architectural philosophy. The Convention, is in fact, a tribute to her pio-neering work.

The Convention inaugu-rated by Dr N.C. Wadhwa, VC, MRIU was graced by a host of dignitaries from the world of academia and architecture such as Leading Architect Dr P.S. N Rao , Chairman Del-

hi Urban Art Commission as Chief Guest; Mr. Wajid Khan, Nail Artist as Guest of Hon-our; Dr Sanjay Srivastava, MD, MREI; Dr. Anjali Krish-nan Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Planning and Architecture, MRIU and Ar Vijay Garg, Vice President, Council of Archi-tecture, among others.

At the Footprint Painting event graced by Ar Dishant Bhatia, New Delhi; Ar Noman Imran Khan, Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun; Ar Ad-itya Kumar Singh, HOD, De-partment of Architecture & Landscape Design, SMVDU, J&K; along with senior gazett-ed officers as eye witnesses, there was much excitement in the air.

The canvas, 2500 m2 in size, is expected to earn a place in the Limca Book of Records! It is noteworthy that the largest painting by foot prints measures 2020.83 m2 ((21,752.83 ft²) and was achieved by Barefoot in Ba-salt, USA on 30th May, 20015. Here in Faridabad, Students at Zonal NASA 2016 took on the challenge and have tried to break the record in about four hours. The video graph of the event would be sent to Limca Book of World Records for assessment of this extraor-dinary attempt.

Manav Rachna International University organized Zonal NASA 2016, a four day premier architectural convention attracting Eminent Architects and 2200 students of Architecture from across India. Over 2000 Students of Architecture create the Largest Footprint Painting with a view to earning a place in the Limca Book of Records!

By Dr. M.M.KathuriaThis goes without saying that it is not possible to control the outer word of objects or nature be-cause it changes every second but comparatively it is easier to make efforts to control the human mind. Today in the machine age man has become itself a machine and looks to be surrounded by multifarious problems which make him unhappy but if a little effort to control the mind is made then one can become the happiest man on the face of the earth.

We enjoy the world with the help of the sense organs God has provided us, but it is the mind which controls our senses. In day to day life we observe that we can shut down all our sense organs and try to enjoy with a single particular sense organ but a question comes up who directs it? And who enjoys it, our knowledge will make us understand that the controlling and enjoying factor is mind. The cause of our unhappiness is that instead of controlling the mind we are being controlled by the mind. The condition is just like that of coming under the control of a monkey who troubles us and makes our life miserable but if we keep this monkey under our control then the monkey can be made to dance to our direction and tunes.

So the great scientists/saints of our past gave us an important formula to become happy i.e we have to control the mind. Now taking only this aspect of controlling the mind they have given us ways and means also, the full details are also given to us .In other words we call this science as Indian Philosophy or spirituality. India though may be called a developing country but in this respect we are developed ones and our Mother land can feel proud to be on top of the world.

To control the mind it is not as easy as it may look. It is not like readymade pill that one can take with a glass of water and work is done. One has to work hard for the same and we have to spend time for the same. Just like taming the monkey but one thing is sure that once we are put on the right path and employ the right means which are already approved and established, then there is no place for any doubt to achieve real happiness. To control the mind several ways and means are required to be adopted. Therefore we have to concentrate and meditate. For performance of any work in any field of life proper and regular efforts and concentration is absolutely necessary. It is commonly known that to be successful in life one needs a sound mind in a sound body. If the mind is sound the body will automatically be functioning properly. Many of the diseases of today though they appear as the physical body but the origin lies in the disturbed mind and troubled mind. Once the mind become clam the body’s suffering will be limited. These troubles are due to unnecessary worries which are mostly due to one’s ignorance. We seek happiness for fulfillment of natural desires which are unending and limitless. We must strive to work for our basic needs and whatever more is available should be taken as Gift of nature and must be used intelligently and be used for the benefit of the society at large. It will bring happiness at our mind level.

Thought flowing is called ‘Mind’. All types of thoughts Past, Present, Future come to the mind. With the help of the intellect, light of knowledge (Gyan) or spiritual knowledge about life as a whole i.e knowledge about self, creation around and the sources of all creations along with yogic exercises to bring discipline into your thought process pro-vides you the pruning machine to enable you to chose which thought to retain and which thought to let go or ignore. Once you learn the process to control the thoughts your disturbances will be reduced to the minimum till you reach a stage and become a focus point of inner bless, the true nature. This stage will enable man to use vast inner energies for the benefit of nature.

The happiness does not lie outside but it is deep within us. If we are happy at our mind level and thus have an inner bliss at our mind level, happiness will prevail in the world.

MEMORIES WHICH NEED TO FADE

GDPro Junior 2016 inspired more than 6,000 School Scholars to give off

their best at the Exclusive Group Discussion Event. The event on its

first day witnessed the Prelims and Quarterfinals for Haryana Region in

which 1,500 scholars from over 25 Schools engaged in a battle of the in-

tellect Dr Sanjay Sriavastava, MD, MREI and VC, MRU boosted students’

confidence and highlighted the importance of Group Discussions in aca-

demics and career progression . GDPro Junior 2016 continued till August

6, 2016 and recognized talent. Attractive Prizes worth INR 1,00,000 were

given away and there was also be a Bumper Prize of an exotic excursion

within India and Gift Hampers for semi-finalists along with participation

certificates for all. Basking in the ever inspiring and glorious journey of the

successful Group Discussion Events at Manav Rachna – GD MANIA-2013,

GD Pro – 2014, GD Pro – 2015, covering more than 30 educational institu-

tions and about 6000 participants in the past, the current GDPro Junior

2016 unleashed unbridled enthusiasm among 6,000 plus participants over

a 6 day period.

On the very first day, there was unbridled enthusiasm at the event as

students engaged in Group Discussions on myriad topics such as ‘Private

Tuitions is Bad or Not’; ‘Languages are Dying’; ‘Gender Equality: A Reality

or Eye Wash’, ‘Innovation is the Need of Science’, among others.

Gracing the occasion, Dr Sanjay Srivastava, Managing Director, MREI

and VC, Manav Rachna University said, “GDPro Junior 2016 will help pre-

pare North India’s students for the competitive world of academics and

enhance their career prospects since Group discussion is often used as a

screening tool by business and corporate. It has become increasingly im-

portant to understand the nuances of a GD and ace the skill-sets required.

We are overwhelmed with the response of GDPro Junior 2016 and wish its

Grand Finale stupendous success.”

For what seems like the millionth time;

I plaster around my face that fake smile,

PROUD of the TRI-COLORSeventieth year of independence was celebrat-ed by the students of FMeH department of Ma-nav Rachna International University (MRIU) , Faridabad on 12th August 2016 , in T- Block Auditorium. The event begun with lightening of lamp . Dr N.C.Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor MRIU, said, “ these 70years have been of great develop-ment and bringing up India as World’s Largest Democracy,”.The first performance of event was a classical dance performed as “GANESH VANDANA” by the girls of second and third year BA(JMC) . Some student sung patriotic songs. Students took ini-tiatives to recite a poem or deliver a speech on Independence Day and its importance. The stu-dent of BA(JMC) Final year performed a dance on patriotic songs. There was also a talent hunt that was being organized for the freshers to bring out the hidden talents in them in which students actively participated in the activities like singing , dancing etc. Students

of second and third year even prepared a short a film on a survey in which they judged the general knowledge of today’s youth by asking them basic questions about their own country “INDIA”. Fi-nally, the program ended with a musical drama “SWARAJYA” in which they made comparison between the celebration of Independence Day that how it was celebrated in the early years of independence and how it is celebrated now. To-day Independence Day celebration has changed from showing respect towards nation and free-dom fighters to another gazetted holiday and just another way of posting selfies with flag on social media and getting maximum likes and com-ments. Drama even focused the attention on the evils that are present in the Indian society. They restrict India from growth and development such as reservation , eve teasing etc. Overall it was a pleasure to be a part of the event and we look for-ward to many such events.

Fresher’s party‘The 4th of October 2016, was marked as a memorable day in my life: it was the fresher’s party. The fresher party was a day that was filled with excitement, joy, music, laughter and happiness. The dress code for the party was ‘’Bollywood’’. The party was for both BJMC and English Honours student. Seniors also per-formed and organized a game called ‘’chit game’’, which meant that whoever got the chit had to complete their dare. It was total fun.But the moment of my life came when the selection for the titles of the day began. For the title MS.Fresher and MR.Fresher the introduction and the talent round were compulsory. All the participants gave their introduction along with a ramp work which was the first round and followed by the second round which was the talent round. All participants performed with vigour and enthusiasm whether it was dance, mu-sic, poem or any other. My first round went off pretty well where I introduced myself as a native of Nepal. I spoke about my family and I thought I suitably impressed the judges. When I had to perform an act for the second round, I was slightly nervous, but I did perform a short dance on a Hindi number. The audience which included my class mates cheered me on. When for the title ‘Ms.Fresher’ my name was announced I, could’nt believe my ears that I had been chosen for this title. I was judged on the basis of my introduction and dance and overall presentation. It was a moment of joy when my name was announced and I walked to the stage with thunderous clapping. The moment is etched in my memory as Dean Ma am put the sash on me and I received the gifts from Dr.Neemo Dhar Ma am and HOD s. The Fresher’s party will always remain special for me.

Addressing the Freshers at

the Programme, Vice Chancellor

Dr N.C. Wadhwa pointed out the

uniqueness of MRIU and its abil-

ity to be creative and different all

at the same time. The three day

programme included plantation

by students as per UGC campaign

‘One Tree, one student’, holistic

wellness and life skills sessions

along with yoga, nutrition counsel-

ing, psychometric test, talent hunt

and sports activities on the final

day.

Edward Levi said that “The introduction of many minds into

many fields of learning along a broad spectrum keeps alive

questions about accessibility, if not the unity, of knowledge.” With

Manav Rachna being a center of learning offering a wide array of

courses, this saying is embedded in the mind of everyone welcom-

ing the new batch of students at the campus. Career Development

Centre (CDC), the central learning training arm at Manav Rachna

is an ardent driver of change among students and it strives for value

addition beyond the realms of class room teaching. To aid this, CDC

organizes various flagship events and facilitates a slew of programs

which it acquainted the new students with through orientation ses-

sions spread over a week, covering all the faculties of both MRU and

MRIU.

Working on the personalities of the students from the time they

enter college, CDC welcomed the young minds by subjecting them

to a comprehensive psychometric test assessing various aspects of

their personality, aptitude and emotional intelligence. Ms. Ritika

gave the students an insight into what the test was aimed at and

how they can analyze their areas of improvement on the basis of

the assessment report generated. The students were addressed by

an hour long interaction by team CDC led by the Head of Depart-

ment, Ms. Gauri Bhasin.

Mr. Nitesh sensitized the students about how they were the

drivers of their own destiny and it is their hard work, sincerity &

perseverance that would steer them to success. Ms. Bhasin gave the

students a reality check by exposing some hard facts about the Indi-

an Education scenario and motivated them to become the change

agents of tomorrow. She apprised them about how they could take

an action and ensure that they evolve themselves continuously so

that when they leave the campus to take on greater horizons, they

are equipped to contribute to the nation’s economy irrespective of

the economic status of the Country.

Ms. Stuti familiarized the students with the entire gamut of

offerings at CDC – from class room engagements to important ac-

tivities; and from placement trainings to value added courses fa-

cilitated by the department. The students were also addressed by

Ms. Kanupriya Shekhar, Manager, Manav Rachna Center of Foreign

Languages, who introduced the bounty of language learning avail-

able to the students while they are at Manav Rachna.

The orientation to Career Development Center was aimed at

stirring the innate potential of every student who will now be walk-

ing the campus for the next few years for CDC believes in the words

of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India: “Each of us has a natural

instinct to rise like a flame. Let’s nurture that instinct.”

Department of Hotel Management (FMS): Visit of students from Manav

Rachna International School, Gurgaon

The best way to make children learn is not only ‘to let them know’, but

also ‘to allow them to do’. A group of 47 students from Grade 5 of MRIS,

Gurgaon visited the Hotel Management Department of Faculty of Manage-

ment Studies on Aug. 12, 2016, Friday. The session was planned in consul-

tation with Ms. Pooja Puri, Principal, MRIS Gurgaon, with the objective of

spreading a message regarding health and nutrition. The day began with a

lot of excitement as it was going to be an experience of its own kind.

The young learners brought along unmatched energy and enthusiasm!

The day began with a brief introduction regarding the proceedings which

had been planned. This was followed by an interactive session on exotic

fruits: names, origin and benefits. FMS faculty member Mr. Syed Najmus

Saqib struck a chord with the students, making the session fun.

The highlight of the day was a demonstration for health drinks, carried

out by FMS faculty member Mr. Narender Suhag; and a demonstration for

preparing healthy muffins conducted by Mr, Syed Najmus Saqib, with as-

sistance from Food Production associate- Mr. Naseem. The students took

great interest and were hands on during this session.

During a round of the kitchen at the Department of Hotel Manage-

ment, the students were explained the importance of hygiene and safety.

They were shown how a commercial kitchen is different from the kitchen

at home, and FMS faculty member Ms. Ritika Singh shared some words of

caution for times when children offer a helping hand in the kitchen, or visit

it otherwise.

To end the day, a surprise was planned for them as they all were offered

the muffins and drinks they had learned during the session.

A few of these students may choose hospitality as their career in the

future, but a new dimension would definitely have been added to their in-

terests after a day with Hotel Management Department, FMS!

Department of Mechanical Engineering, FET, MRIU

organized an enrichment lecture for the students

on “Create Industry Ready Students through Indus-

try-Academia Partnership” by Mr. Anil Bhatia ( Lean

Consultant) and Mr. Ravi Makhija (Director, RVM CAD)

on August 10, 2016. The session was attended by final

year Mechanical Engineering students who have to face

the challenge in industries i.e. what industry need from

them? in the upcoming year 2017.

Mr. Anil Bhatia started the session with narrating

the importance of Industry ready students. He gave an

insight on the requisites of commercialization of prod-

ucts/services according to the industry perspective. In

addition, he briefed the role of innovation in the man-

ufacturing sector. His lecture was graced with the help

of presentation on the upcoming technological advance-

ment in the field of Production and Industrial Engineer-

ing especially covers all aspects of Resource Manage-

ment.

Mr. Ravi Makhija addressed the need of design phase

in the product development and also, discussed the var-

ious software’s available in the market for the design

purpose. He focused on the advanced development in

the design field i.e. integration of the design phase with

product development phase through simulation and

modelling tools.

Dr,. B. S. Gill (Director, MRIIC) concluded the lec-

tures with the role of design and development of prod-

ucts in the present competitive market scenario. He also

addressed the requisition of Incubation and its integra-

tion with the innovation.

Women’s Health and Nutrition became the

focus of an initiative undertaken by Inner-

wheel Club of Faridabad Central which organised

4 health projects under the guidance of Mrs. Ani-

ta Thakkar, Chairperson, Healthcare Committee;

Distt 301 and Club President Mrs. Renu Thakkar .

The initiative was held at Manav Rachna In-

ternational University campus, Surajkund, Farid-

abad. Smt Satya Bhalla, Chief Patron, Manav Rach-

na Educational Institutions, congratulated the

club members, students and staff of Manav Rach-

na for celebrating National Nutrition Week and ap-

preciated the efforts of Innerwheel Club of Farid-

abad Central. District chairman Mrs Renu Gupta

was the chief guest on the occasion.

It is noteworthy that Innerwheel Club Farid-

abad Central (IWC) donated 15 dentures to 15 se-

nior citizens. That besides, a cheque of Rs 2 lacs

was given to Thalassemic India, New Delhi, for

the bone marrow transplant of a 4 year old thal-

assemic child. It was on the same occasion, Dr

Gurdeep Kaur , Dietician , AIIMS, gave a talk on

Women’s Health and Nutrition. Health Sub com-

mittee Chairperson Dr. Vinita Chopra highlighted

the importance of cornea donation. The dignitar-

ies sensitized the audience on health and nutrition

related issues especially in the light of the ongoing

National Nutrition week celebrations.

President Manav Rachna Educational Institutions did

the honors on behalf of MRIU.

Both Gerlev Institute of Physical education and

Sports Academy and MRIU agreed to share a commit-

therapies and nutrition. Joint efforts will also be un-

Speaking on the MOU, Dr Prashant Bhalla, Pres-

tion. Given MRIU’s impressive sports legacy, both the

institutions are on common ground.”

Dr Finn also quoted WHO guidelines on health for

Infocomm Limited, on 29.9.16,

the Institutions of Manav Rach-

na can look forward to a dig-

itized campus and short pro-

grams of varying durations that

would enable students to be

tech-savvy in a digitized world.

Reliance Jio has partnered with

Manav Rachna to help create a

ready talent pool to be hired by

Jio Centres. This will enable Re-

liance Jio to create a sustainable

supply chain of skilled and cer-

tified talent. Manav Rachna, for

its part, is dedicated towards the

nurturing of recruitment-ready

students, and the recent MoU

would therefore be a step in the

right direction.

As part of the understand-

ing, Manav Rachna would pro-

vide dedicated space along

with smart classrooms for the

Reliance Jio setup. Reliance

Jio would be setting up a com-

plete Training Centre at the

campus and train the faculty

members on Fibre Optics Tech-

nology, Sales and Marketing.

The trained faculty would then

disseminate knowledge to the

students. As an initial step, Re-

liance Jio shall provide all re-

quired training equipments and

display products to establish a

Fibre Optic Communications

Lab in the Electronics and Com-

munications Department at the

Manav Rachna campus.

ALUMNI MEET “SAMAGAM 2K16”

organized an Alumni Meet “SA-

MAGAM 2K16” on 17th September,

2016 from 11:30 am to 2 pm. The

meet was inaugurated by Hon’ble

Vice Chancellor, Dr. N.C. Wadhwa

by lightening the traditional lamp.

The students organized a fun

filled morning for their seniors.

Games were organized by the stu-

dents for the alumini students who

came dressed in their best attire

and enjoyed the programme which

was planned for them. Besides

dance and music recitals there

were chits which the alumini stu-

dents drew and performed what

was on the chits. A dance by the

Faculty at the request of the stu-

dents lightened the mood even fur-

ther. The alumini went back happy

and promised to return in bigger

groups the following year.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr.

Wadhwa welcomed the alumni and

motivated them through his talk to

excel in their respective fields of ac-

tivity. He also exhorted them to re-

main in touch with the institution

and attend all the functions when-

ever invited.

Sh. Kilam informed the alumni

regarding “Resurrection 2K16” and

also about the alumni coordinator

appointed recently by DSW. Dr.

Neemo Dhar, Dean, FMeH, empha-

sized that alumni of any institution

are an asset for the institution and

their excellence reflects on the ex-

cellence of the department and

institution. Thus, all should strive

for excellence. She requested them

to bond with the institution in a

big way so that their experience

and expertise can help junior stu-

dents in all aspects including in

finding placements. Some alumni

students’ spoke about the nostal-

gic memories they had about the

institution. The inauguration was

followed by cultural programme

comprising dances, comedy inter-

ventions and short competitions

for the alumni. The alumni were

gifted mementos at the end of the

ment presented the Vote of Thanks.

This was followed by lunch. The

whole forenoon and afternoon till 2

The booming future of DIGITAL media

The question of how much

technology to use in the

media classroom can

often have a wide perspective.

Some teachers will embrace tech-

nology and its usage, designing

innovative multimedia projects

which use all the gadgets at hand.

Others, perhaps as a reaction to

the first group, will resolve to do

things the way they’ve always

done, at best sending students to

the lab. Technology is present, but it’s tokenized. The digital divide con-

tinues to thrive.

A big part of being a mentor to media students is to re-think how

students would approach the process. The contemporary process of

imparting knowledge has advantages laid out to the extent of human

behavior and psychology, but novelty in the industry needs to be paced

up. Therefore, not only do we have to involve contemporary methods,

but also make future leaders in the media industry ready for the digital

platform.

A treat for the same is visible in Digital media. Print media exists,

and maybe is still the first choice of many, but digital media is emerg-

ing, fast and on demand accessible. Through the aforementioned fea-

tures, future media persons must be educated about the same. Look at

digital marketing, using digital technologies to reach and convert leads

into customers and retain them.Digital marketing activities are search

engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), content

marketing, influencer marketing, content automation, campaign mar-

keting, and e-commerce marketing, social media marketing, social

media optimization, e-mail direct marketing, display advertising, e–

books, optical disks and games, and any other form of digital media.

The world we live in today has become increasingly digital focused

and is developing at a significantly fast rate. It is common now to have

automatic access to digital devices and the internet due to the digital

capabilities available which have completely changed the way in which

society communicates and interacts.

It is social media and how it can be used. And by the time we even

knew social media existed, a new phrase had emerged – one which we

also didn’t intuitively understand: new media. Not knowing what ei-

ther of them really meant or how they related to one another made us

want to avoid the whole thing. But when we ultimately learned what

they meant and how they fit together, we became interested enough to

actually engage them.

• So, New Media is on-demand access to content anytime, any-

where, on any digital device, as well as interactive user feedback,

creative participation. Most technologies described as “new me-

dia” are digital, often having characteristics of being manipulated,

networkable, compressible, and interactive. Another aspect of new

media is the real-time generation of new, unregulated content.

Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia, is an example. Facebook is an

example of the social media model, in which most users are also

participants.

• Social media refers to the means of interactions among people in

special effects for live performance and concerts and intermedial the-

atre, audio/video production, 2-D and 3-D animation, and as creative

mixed-media artists working primarily with digital technologies.

In addition to traditional college education, marketers are embrac-

ing specific technology certifications to keep pace with the technolog-

ical change dominating their chosen profession. Understanding how

The National Media Con-clave organized by Faculty of Media Studies and Humanities (FMeH), Manav Rachna Inter-national University (MRIU) under the leadership of Prof.Dr Neemo Dhar, Dean, FMeH on 30th August 2016, was a conflu-ence of great minds as a galaxy of media professionals from various platforms gathered together to brainstorm over media-centric issues. gathering, Chief Guest, Dr Chandan Mitra, Former Rajya Sabha member and Editor of the Pioneer newspaper said, “The challenge before the me-dia is to serve national goals and society. Media has had to face the incursion of technolo-gy which has progressed phe-nomenally across the years. However, traditional forms of media have greater credibili-ty since the primary job of the Editor has always been to filter the news, give it a proper orien-tation and analysis and ensure that it does not become inflam-matory.”

Speaking on the occasion in his keynote address, the Guest of Honour Dr A. Surya Prakash, Chairman Prasar Bharati, said, “We live in an age where there is free flow of informa-tion and a free environment for dissemination of news.

In recent times, while people have acquired the economic strength to buy newspapers and there are over 160 million households with TV sets, a new segment of new age users has emerged who consume news through their smartphones.”

The first session, chaired by Dr Chandan Mitra, Former Rajya Sabha member and Ed-itor of the Pioneer newspaper, comprised a panel discussion on ‘Changing media scenar-io and how it impacts Indian society’. It was chaired by Sh N.K.Singh, Secretary BEA and had well known media professionals as their panelists which included Dr Manoj Patairiya, Director GSIR, former ADG Doordar-shan; Sh Durbar Ganguly, Ed-itor Millennium Post and Sh Sayeed Ansari, Editor, Special Projects at Aaj Tak.. A souvenir was also released during the conclave.

Prof.Dr Neemo Dhar, Dean, FMeH, MRIU offered the vote of thanks stating that the Con-clave was a great learning ex-perience for the students leav-ing them deeply enriched and motivated by the sheer gamut of ideas that were shared at the Conclave.

The Manav Rachna family ushered in Diwali with festivity and bonding. The families of the Faculty and staff joined in together to enjoy the cultural programme, games and eating stalls which were arranged for everyone to enjoy on 27 October 2016 at the University Campus. Mrs Satya Bhalla said it was a joyous moment to welcome the families. Dr Prashant Bhalla thanked one and all for the co-op-eration rendered over the year and hoped that together we would be able to take Manav Rachna to even greater heights of world ex-cellence.

Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Faculty of Media Studies and Humanities or-ganized a Workshop in association with Vigyan Prasar, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India on “Science Communication through Visual Media” on 17th October 2016 . Vigyan Prasar is an autonomous body under the Department of Science and Technology and organizes National Science Film Festival. It also provides orientation training in Film making to students and working Journalists. The workshop was inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dr. N.C.Wadhwa by lighting the lamp. Prof. Neemo Dhar, Dean,FMeH reiterated that the workshop would help the students to understand the film making techniques.

Fifty students of Media studies opted for this workshop were trained at the workshop. Two re-source persons were associated with the workshop namely Mr. Nimish kapoor, Scientist ‘E’ and Head, Science Films ‘Division’, Vigyan Prasar, Department of Science and Technology, Government of In-dia. Mr. Kulbhushan, The vote of thanks was given by Dr. Suresh Chandra Nayak, Associate Professor & HoD and co-ordinated by Dr. Anshu Arora.

International Workshop on “Art of Writing and Future of Journalism”

An International Workshop on “Art of Writing and Future of Journalism” was organized by Faculty of Media Studies and Humanities today i.e. on 30th September 2016 at Manav Rachna Interna-

tional University, Faridabad.Dr. N.C Wadhwa, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, MRIU inaugurated the workshop by lighting the tra-

ditional lamp. Speaking on the occasion he advised the journalism students to be honest and re-sponsible and not to sensationalize information while reporting. The objective of the workshop was to provide an overview of the practical journalism and provide practical training especially digital media and social media tools to the students. The workshop was divided into two sessions. In the first session’s different forms of story writing such as writing for hard news, entertainment news, travel news was discussed along with case studies. Sources of news and how to interact with the sources were discussed in detail. Role plays in a news room for gathering news and developing pages in the newspaper was also done by the resources persons.

In the second session, practical training for writing for blogs, TV, Web etc, was provided along with exercises to upload on twitter, prepare a nutgraf to present a news item to update over facebook, prepare Press release etc. was also undertaken by the students under the guidance of the resource persons. NDTV workshop on Event Management and Anchoring: A workshop on “Event Management and Anchoring” was organized by NDTV for the students of BA-JMC (3rd and 5thSem) and MA-JMC (1stSem). Ms. Parul Gupta, Division Head, Events, NDTV and Mr. Sanjay Ahirwal, Man-aging Editor, NDTV WorldWide conducted the workshop. Ms. Parul Gupta discussed various aspects of ‘Event Management’ and how it is evolving as an important branch of the field of Journalism and Mass Communication. Mr. Sanjay Ahirwal gave an insight about various steps involved in making an event successful. Mr. Sanjay Ahirwal and Ms. Parul Gupta took a joint session on ‘Anchoring’ in FMeH studio. Both provided hands on training to the students on Anchoring .

NDTV workshop onAnchoring:. A workshop on “Anchoring” was organized by NDTV at FMeH in which Ms. Kadambini Sharma–Anchor and Editor, Foreign Affairs, NDTV 24x7 and Mr. Sanjay Ahirwal, Managing Editor, NDTV Worldwide were present . Ms. Kadambini Sharma, spoke about the role and importance of a News Anchor in a TV channel. Mr. Sanjay Ahirwal spoke about the various challenges faced by the Journalists in today’s time.

and MA-JMC (IstSem). Ms. Janaki Fernandes - Senior Consultant, Content Strategy, Web and Mobile; Mr Sushil Bahuguna Anchor and Editor, Output, NDTV India and Mr Madhusudan Srinivas, Senior News Editor, NDTV 24x7 conducted the workshop. Ms. Janaki Fernandes, spoke about the role and importance of New Media in Journalism and how it is changing the nature and consumption of News. After a brief introduction about the topic, she showed News stories which gave them a better under-standing of the topic. Mr. Sushil Bahuguna, gave an insight about Output section in the channel. He informed the students about how the news is gathered and also about the role of reporters, stringers and News agencies in the News Channel. Mr. Madhusudan Srinivas talked about the general struc-ture of the News room and the various responsibilities involved with the job.

ture on Implantology by Dr. Sung Min

Chung, an eminent Implantologist from

Korea on 27 September, 2016. The lecture

was attended 259 delegates. The confer-

ence titled ‘Implantology Update 2016’

was inaugurated by Dr. Anil Kohli Ex President DCI, and the scientific session of the

conference was inaugurated by Dr. O.P. Kharbanda Director Dental AIIMS. The in-

auguration was also attended by the V. C of the Manav Rachna University Dr. (Prof)

Sanjay Srivastava and Dr. Arundeep Singh Principal, Dental College along with all

the deans and head of the departments. The main objective of the conference was

to continually train dental professional on the latest and innovative techniques of

Implantology. Dr. Sung presented to the audience his wide range of clinical cases

and the latest implant dentistry trends in his lectures. Dr. Pankaj Dhawan and faculty

of department of Prosthodontics conducted the hands-on workshops.

Students and faculty members of Department of Hotel Management observed

World Tourism Day by visiting the National Association for Blind, Faridabad

school. The team from FMS spent a few hours with the differently- abled children

at the Blind School. Cakes and cookies prepared by the FMS team were distributed

to the inmates of the school. Some games such as 'identification of spices' were also

organized. Returning to the campus, the faculty team of the department (Dr. Rekha

Maitra, Ms. Ritika Singh, Mr. Syed Najmus Saqib, Mr. Rajnish Shukla, Mr. Narender

Suhag and Mr. Bakul Govil) carried out a discussion regarding the visit to the Blind

School. On this occasion, Dean, FMS- Dr. Chavi Bhargava Sharma addressed the

students.

Faculty of Management Studies (in association with Women Feature Service and

Girls Count) organized an exhibition on September 2, 2016. This initiative was

undertaken in collaboration with National Foundation for India (NFI), United Na-

tions Population Fund (UNFPA) and UN Women and was endorsed by Beti Bachao

Beti Padhao programme of Govt. of India.

The event showcased 30 award- winning photographs from across the country,

depicting the various shades of the life of a woman. The photographs had mostly

been clicked by amateur photographers, but they captured the moment and the

feeling, apart from just the shot.

Vice Chancellor, MRIU, Dr. N C Wadhwa appreciated the efforts made by

WFS, and said that respecting women is essential for betterment in society. Dean,

FMS, Dr. Chavi Sharma said each of the photographs showed how closely dreams

are held by those who had been clicked.

Faculty of Commerce and Business Studies organized an enrichment lecture on

College to Corporate by Mr. Anil Tyagi on September 29, 2016 under the ae-

gis of Enrichment Lecture Series Programme (ELSP). The session was attended by

senior students of BBA, B.Com and some students from Faculty of Planning and

Manav Rachna Dental College (MRDC) observed

World No Tabacco Day on 31st May 2016. An an-

ti-tobacco rally was held from BK hospital, Faridabad and

ended at Manav Rachna Head office, NIT 5, amidst much

enthusiasm and encouragement. Dr Gulshan Arora, CMO,

Faridabad and Dr. Asim Das, Principal ESIC Medical College

were the Chief guests on the occasion. Also present at the ral-

ly was Dr M.M. Kathuria, Advisor, MREI; Dr N.C. Wadhwa,

Vice Chancellor, Manav Rachna International University;

Maj. Gen. (Retd) P.N. Awasthi, Advisor, MRDC and Raman

Grover, President, Lions Club Lake City, Faridabad. The rally

in course of its sojourn garnered much appreciation even

from bystanders. Students of MRDC joined in the initia-

tive as they took to the streets carrying posters and shouting

slogans to sensitize people towards the harmful effects of to-

bacco use and its life threatening effects. MRDC students

also performed a Nukkad Natak to further reinforce the anti

tobacco message

At Faculty of Management Studies, bridging the indus-

try- academia gap is one of the key focus areas. With

support from the Corporate Resource Centre of MRIU, a

lecture was organized for MBA students in September 30,

2016. The resource person was Mr. Manash Chakraborty-

an expert in the field of human resource management and

development. He has more than 25 years of experience with

brands such as Raheja Group, Radisson, Claridges etc., across

various industries.

While giving them some simple but valuable tips for

facing job interviews, Mr. Chakraborty said organizations

seek ‘positive attitude’ and ‘adaptabilty’ as the main qualities

in those who join them. He advised that money should not

be the only criteria while deciding regarding a job; rather

if one works efficiently, he/ she may become a sought after

employee.

Students of B Sc Hospitality and Hotel Administration,

BBA (Entrepreneurship and Family Business) and BBA

(Finance and Accounts) were enriched by Mr Sanjeev Sethi,

Vice President, Hyatt Hotels, on September 21, 2016 in a

session organized by the Department of Management and

Commerce.

Mr Sethi has held the positions of Corporate Director

of HR at The Imperial Hotel, New Delhi and Director HR

at Grand Hyatt. The event was graced by Dr. Chavi Bhargava

Sharma, Professor and Dean, Faculty of Management Studies,

Wg Cdr P K Sinha (Retd), Director-CRC and Ms. Ritika,

HoD , Hotel Management. The topic of the session was "Do-

ing Business" wherein Mr Sethi shared key insights from the

hospitality sector. Mr Sethi talked about the huge opportuni-

ty in hospitality business in India as there are 60-70 million

tourist visitors every year in France and USA as compared

to 8 million in India. While giving various examples from the

hotel industry he explained the importance of presentation,

attitude, service orientation, common sense and a caring heart

(as a mothers) to make the Guests feel at home away from

home.. The session ended with a vote of thanks by his ex col-

league Prof Jaideep Singh, Director- Industry Interaction.

these objectives have been set with the ultimate goal of mainstream-

ing, development and empowerment of sections of society who are

marginalized, vulnerable and with special needs.

The entire Manav Rachna Fraternity is associated with efforts

made by the Dr. O P Bhalla Foundation. All team members (including

students, teachers and staff) are parts of all initiatives thus undertaken.

Young enthusiasts from Manav Rachna International Schools are al-

ways ready to make contributions in their own way. As we teach our

students how to ‘return’ to society, as a token of gratitude for what

one enjoys, we ensure that these are comprehended as fundamental

lessons of life. Snapshot of activities undertaken by Dr. O P Bhal-la Foundation: The Foundation had made a humble beginning

when it launched a programme called ‘Ek Mutthi Daan’ in March

2014. It was not too long before this became a movement where

‘No one sleeps hungry’. Through the Foundation, MREI donates ap-

proximately 1000 kgs. of food grains every month to a few NGOs in

Delhi NCR.

To provide impetus to education, the Foundation has adopted

a Govt. Girls School in Mohna Village (Ballabgarh). Beginning with

repair of the school building, our association with the school today

stands on the positive response given by the students there. Team

members from MREI conduct weekly sessions at the school, leav-

ing the students longing for more. Extending the capacity- building

efforts in Mohna, a skill development centre has been established in

the village. Since November 2015, village youth are provided free of

cost vocational training at this community centre. After the successful

adoption of a school in Mohna Village, the Foundation is presently in

the process of finalizing adoption of about 15 schools in Faridabad.

This will entail better facilities, and assistance in training, as a precursor

to educating future generations.

Supporting the Swacchh Bharat initiative of the Govt. of India,

Dr. O P Bhalla Foundation has taken up the responsibility of regular

cleaning and up keep of the Old Faridabad Railway Station and the

Shiv Temple in Sec. 49, Faridabad. Apart from this, a number of regu-

lar initiatives also contribute towards environmental protection, such

as ‘Say no to polythene’, ‘Anti- cracker rally’, ‘Plantation drive’ and

‘Waste management & Composting’.

Qualified doctors from MREI organize regular health check

up camps at various locations. Blood Donation Camps and Dental

Camps are organized frequently. A Health Centre has also been set up

in Mohna Village, where locals may consult expert doctors.

Some special programmes of the Foundation focus on the elderly,

especially those who are inmates of Old Age Homes. Visits are paid

to Old Age Homes to spend time with the aged. Computer literacy

workshops are also held at some of these venues. Students from MR

schools initiated the ‘Joy of Giving’, by presenting stationery items/

clothes etc. to construction workers and others. Not deterred by the

magnitude of efforts, Dr. O P Bhalla Foundation has carried out a

study for taking up the revival of Badkhal Lake. The maintenance of

Faridabad’s Tallest Tiranga is also done by the Foundation.

The district administration of Faridabad has provided support to

the activities of the Foundation, by providing for the required or-

ganizational permissions etc. For each of the activities taken up till

date, senior functionaries of the administrative machinery have been

associated with the Foundation. Sh. Krishanpal Gurjar (Minister of

State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India; Member

of Parliament, Faridabad), and Sh. Vipul Goel (Minister of Industries

and Commerce, Environment and Industrial Training, Govt. of Hary-

ana) have applauded the efforts of the Foundation for adding to the

development of Faridabad, which is a Smart City in the making. With

thumping support from all over MREI, a volunteering drive is now

underway, wherein anyone can contribute to the noble efforts being

made by the Foundation.

Under the aegis of Corporate Social Responsibility club students of Depart-

ment of Business Studies went to a school run by a Non Government Or-

ganisation Prakash Deep Trust on August 11, 2016 which is located in Sector 21A,

Faridabad. Students spent time with around 120 underprivileged children . The stu-

dents of BBA conducted following sessions for the children :

a) Sanitation and Hygiene session

b) Recreational Activities

c) Art and Craft Activities

d) Snacks packets distribution

e) Stationary distribution

The underprivileged children were extremely happy and enjoyed thoroughly

with our students. BBA students distributed stationary and colors to these children

and food packets to around 350 students of the trust. The objective of this trip was to

spread this feeling of giving and helping to a larger section of society i.e. our students

and to strengthen weaker section in some way.

The trip was accompanied by Dr. Narinder Tanwar and Ms. Shilpa Bhatia (CSR

faculty club member).

Team Resurrection organized a ‘Quilling and Origami’ workshop for the kids of NGO

PRAYAAS at Aggarwal Public School, Sector 3 Faridabad on 5August accompanied by RJ Bhaw-na from Radio Manav Rachna. Senior students Divyanshu Huria, Nishu Goel, Himani Saraswat, Nitin Verma, Himagna Roy, Alankarit Mudgal, Ni-misha Sharma also visited the NGO. . Young minds were introduced to the creative world of ‘Origami’ by teaching them various ways of transforming a simple sheet of paper to marvelous articles of beau-ty . Mr. Jagat Madan, President PRAYAAS expressed his gratitude towards Manav Rachna for organizing such an activity in the school premises. Team Res-urrection also set up few games and gave winners underlining the importance of participation. All the participants were given certificates of appreciation.

As a part of ‘Health for All’ mission, Manav Rachna In-ternational University (MRIU) conducted a health camp for Community Welfare. The Camp-- an initiative of Dr O.P. Bhal-la Foundation--was held at the Community Centre, Sector 46, Faridabad on 20 August, 2016 . Conducted by Physiotherapy and Nutrition pro-fessionals, the Camp provided free health checkup and treat-ment to the residents of Faridabad. The aim of these health camps in various areas of city is to create more awareness about the need for a healthy life style and hygiene.

The MRIU Team members advised and assessed people suffering from knee problems, back and neck pain. The gener-al fitness levels of the Residents were also evaluated. Regular exercise, ergonomic advices and life style modifications were emphasized upon to halt and alter the deterioration levels of the patients.

Oppo Fresh Face was a thrilling experience

Says Ishika Bhardwaj, as she won as the second runner up at the OPPO Fresh face organized by Delhi Times 6 September 2016 at the Manav Rachna International . “No I did not pre-

pare for the competition , it was a on the spot performance, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.” Says a beaming Ishika. At her school at Lakshman Public school she was always interested in modeling and ramp walking. A student of art, she is happy to be at the Manav Rachna Univeristy which she says is a threshold for harnessing her hidden talent. “At the onset I was very nervous but slowly as my friend Shreya encouraged me and pepped me on, I thought I should give it my best,” she says.

When asked at the competition, who was her favourite film star and why, she replied Ran-veer Singh for his ‘manly’ body . “He is hot,” she said . How do you have so much confidence if you have not walked the ramp many times, she was asked . And she confidently replied “I am confident!”

It was a great experience at the Oppo Delhi Times Fresh Face 2016. For me to perform and win for the first time, well I had never dreamt it to be so exciting . Many talented students were

present at the show . Their unique talents impressed the celebrity judges and the students. The competition was held in 3 rounds . The first one was talent hunt , second one was a questioning round and the third one was the individual dance . The round which was most difficult was the question round . I was asked ‘A lot of films these days show adult content to attract audience! Is it a good technique or not ?' . I answered ' that it’s the choice of audience to watch such films , Bollywood makes every type of genre !' The judges seemed quite impressed. That was probably one of my strong answers which finally got me the title of '1st runner up' . That day will remain in my memory. I am greatful to the organisers for giving me this opportunity to perform which has made me more confident ! Thank you one and all who made this possible for me.

OPPO DELHI TIMES FRESH FACE, 2016

Following a directive by the

Ministry of HRD and UGC

urging all educational insti-

tutions-- both Government-owned

and private—to engage in Indepen-

dence Day celebrations, MREI took

on the onus of instilling among its

youth a sense of patriotism, to foster

a sense of unity and oneness among

the students and instill in them a

sense of pride in their identity and

nation. Manav Rachna Educational Institu-

tions (MREI) imbued with the mantra of

‘creating better human beings’ and ‘Being

creative is not a hobby. It’s a way of life’ has

always laid great emphasis on value educa-

tion.

The National Tricolor stirred patriot-

ic sentiments as the Manav Rachna family

under the initiative of Dean Students Wel-

fare turned up in the colors of Freedom--

-be it saffron, green or white—sporting ‘I

am proud to be an Indian’ badges. To give

further impetus to their creative spirit and

a free rein to their imagination, DSW or-

ganisd a wide array of thought-provoking

and fun- filled programmes to celebrate

the spirit of freedom. An India Quiz up-

holding the essence of knowledge about

our country in every field was organized at

the campus to kick start the Independence

Week Celebrations. Around 22 teams with

44 participants engaged in a series of rounds

involving MCQ, Puzzle, Mythology, Cul-

ture, History and Geography along with a

final rapid fire session based on questions

from Indian current affairs.

A ‘Clay Modelling’ session was orga-

nized for the students. The event caught the

interest of various students from all faculties

of Manav Rachna and got their creative side

up and running. 13 students from different

faculties / institutions of Manav Rachna

WHAT 2 OF THE FINALISTS FROM BJMC HAD TO SAY:

participated in the event trying to pour

life into clay. Students got their hands full

with clay and created ingenious structures,

animals and objects based on the theme ‘Pa-

triotism’. The display of the models thrived

with artistic imagination and perseverance.

The event was judged by Mr. Rick De,

Asstt. Professor FPA while Prof. I. K. Kil-

am, Dean Students Welfare was present

all through. The first place was bagged by

Nitin Verma (5th semester, B.Sc. -Interior

Designing, FPA) followed by Divey Kapoor

(Intern BDS, MRDC) at the second place

and Chhavi Bajaj (Intern BDS, MRDC)

stood third. An Antakshari competition was

also held at the campus in which songs—

both patriotic and melodious —thrilled

both participants and audiences alike. The

students overcame their initial shyness and

tried to outdo each other in singing songs

of their choice. Aa unique event called Sang

Gattvam in which students as well as facul-

ty / staff members of Manav Rachna gave

melodic performances in their respective

mother tongues was also organised, thus

celebrating unity in diversity. Songs and po-

ems in a variety of languages like Assamese,

Bengali, Manipuri, Punjabi, Malyalam, Mai-

thali and a few others were performed by

the participants. Pooja Kashyap (5th sem B.

Tech ECE, FET), Poorva Jairamani (3rd sem

BAJMC, FMeH), Nganthoi Khuman (1st

sem MBA, FMS) among others performed

and paid tribute to their mother

tongue.

The celebrations also witnessed

a Story Making competition calling

upon students to whip up stories

based upon pictures of objects shown

to them. The participants had to

connect with their imagination and

carve a story instantly and recite in

front of the judges and fellow partic-

ipants. The winner of the event was

Ragini (4th years BDS, MRDC), 1st run-

ner up was Himagna Roy (5th sem B. Com

(H), FCBS) and 2nd runner up was Meghali

Sachdeva (7th sem B. Tech IT, MRU).Ms.

Ritika concluded the event with a deeper

understanding of connecting the dots and

weaving a story out of it. That apart, a Poster

Making Competition with ‘Independence’

as the theme showcased interesting sketches

and drawings of around 45 students while

a quelling contest saw students creating an

amazing artwork which was associated with

tricolor recollections. Deeply appreciative of

the students’ talent and initiatives, Dr Amit

Bhalla, Vice President, MREI, said, “MREI

has always believed in the holistic develop-

ment of its students. By participating in a

whole host of activities with ‘patriotism’ as

the theme, students at MREI are imbibing

the values and culture of their own coun-

try while developing a deep rooted connect

with its history and heritage. What we have

here is a beautiful amalgam of the past and

present”. Congratulating the students on

Guest lectures at FMeH

In order to expose new media students to the techniques of gathering news, writing news stories, and nuisance of getting clues for the story, a lecture by

Ms. Geetanjali Gayatri, Special Correspondent, Haryana Bureau in Chandigarh, The Tribune had been arranged on 20th July 2016 . The lecture explained the detailed techniques of gathering news, collecting news and padding of news.

A Guest Lecture on Radio Journalism was organized. The resource for the lecture on 6 September . 2016 was Ms. Shaheena Khan, Former Associate Pro-fessor, IIMC, New Delhi and Executive at AIR Delhi, External Services Division.

She explained in detail about various genres of Radio and its essentials. She also talked about the various nuances of making Community Radio successful and Do and Don’ts to be followed in Broadcast. Her lecture was peppered with examples from AIR and other radio stations to give a complete insight into their working.

A lecture by Sh. Maneesh Pandey, Deputy Editor, Mail Today (India Today Group), a reputed journalist, who earlier was Chief Reporter, (Deputy Metro

Editor), Times of India, for students of Journalism and Mass Communication on relevance of social media in news production and consumption, was organized on 26 July, 2016 .

Sh. Maneesh Pandey dealt in detail on every vital phenomenon currently shaping news in Newsrooms i.e. Social Media and its usage. He discussed as to how Social Media (Twitter, facebook, Instagram) is setting the discourse of newsrooms and also influencing political discourse, which eventually gets into media reportage.

Visit to Lok Sabha TVThe students of Faculty of Media Studies participated in a talk show on “Political Murders” organized by Lok Sabha TV (LSTV) on 19th July 2016 at Parliament House. It was indeed a great exposure and practical learning for the students of Media Studies, where they learnt about various aspects of the subject. The eminent experts of the subjects like Manohar Joshi (Senior Journalist), Harsh-vardhan (Political Researcher) enlightened the audience with their views. The Centre Of Smart Solar Energy

offered summer training to 6th se-

mester (ECE,ME,CSE) students on “So-

lar Power and Its Application in various

fields” for 60 hours. The objective of this

training was to bring about the interest

among students in field of Solar Energy;

students were given hands-on experience

on various solar equipment’s. They were

introduced to DC technology and how it

can be extracted from the available source

of energy so that they can use for various

applications in their daily life .Students

were taught to check the solar PV panel

parameters like open circuit voltage, short

circuit current. Hands on session were

provided to students to know about the

impact of shading, temperature, load and

irradiation on solar panels. A complete

knowledge on how to select the solar

panel, how to fix the panel, angle of the

panel, wire sizing , use of invertors, charge

controllers were imparted to students. A

Live demonstration of the existing tech-

nologies in the lab was given to students.

They worked on different solar related

projects. One of the project was Solar en-

ergized GO-Kart. The team of sixth se-

from Mechanical Engineering Ajay Ya-

It was a tradition initiated by Founder Vi-

sionary Dr O.P. Bhalla who believed in its

deeply spiritual significance. Havan is meant

paving the way for overall prosperity and

growth. I bless our new students to dedicate

themselves towards the realization of their

dreams and goals and firmly believe that

FMS, which is in its ninth year, will go on

Addressing the gathering of new stu-

dents at a formal session on the first day,

Dr N.C. Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, MRIU,

stated, “Learning is not a mere part of cur-

riculum but a lifelong holistic journey of

classroom exploration well compliment-

ed with constant interactions with faculty

members, peer group, management and

industry experts.” He emphasized on the

holistic development of an individual and

emphasized on the importance of the Ori-

entation programme in helping students

evolve as better and successful human be-

ings. The first day also familiarized the

students with the facilities and support ex-

tended by the University, its initiatives in the

field of Academics and CSR besides appris-

ing them of the awaiting pool of learning

opportunities and expectations.

The programme over a 5 day period

is replete with a wide array of events and

activities in which students will experience

an ice-breaking session, engage in Group

interaction with Faculty members, take a

campus tour, undergo Pre Assessment Test

for English Communication under the

guidance of Career Development Centre

to learn about the various skills required for

success and the support available at MRIU;

The Intra Sports tournament 2016 of Manav

Rachna University was played from 30thAu-

gust to 1st September 2016 at Manav Rachna Cam-

pus Grounds. The guest of the day was Mr. Sarkar

Talwar, Director Sports, He addressed the students

and gave them best wishes and told them about the

importance of sports in an individual’s life in order

to stay healthy and happy. All the students were hap-

py and enthusiastic to participate in the intra sports

tournament.

‘UDAAN 2016’ BY FMS

RUCkRU - FRESHER’S 2K16 INTRA SPORTS TOURNAMENT

Mounting structures were made with

help of PVC pipes and 4 PV panels of 40

Watt each was mounted considering pa-

rameters like weight of the panel, thick-

ness of the roof, weather conditions etc.

A charge controller of 48 V 10A is con-

nected to regulate the charging of battery.

Students designed the mounting structure

with respect to the available roof top of

the Go-Kart . They also made the changes

in the battery charging system so that

batteries can be charged through solar

energy as well as main supply.

During the process students

faced lots of practical challenges and

it was converted as learning experi-

ence along with the help of Mr.Balbir

Singh, Mr.Jawhar, Mr.Sunil Solan-

ki and Mr.Pratap from Mechanical

workshop-MRU.

On the lighter side, students would go on a

Treasure Hunt as part of the ‘Mind Games’

series, experience Faculty and peer mento-

ring and engage in ‘Stress Buster’ sessions

through ‘Learning from Sports’ and indulge

in Sports through ‘Group Competitions’.

All of these activities are geared towards the

holistic development of students to help

them emerge as successful thoughtful lead-

ers of the future.

Event Analysis by FMS To sensitize MBA students about

the importance of all such events, and the

need to participate, an enrichment lecture

was organized by FMS on September 14,

2016. Industry Chair Professor at FMS,

Prof. Jayant Ambast shared his views with

the students. Prof. Ambast observed that it

is easy and commonplace to be critical of

functions and events one attends. However,

what audiences miss out is appreciating the

finer experiences and lessons which events

hold. He advised that each event is mean-

ingful to us, provided we are able to place

it properly as a part of the larger jigsaw of

our lives. This he said could be done if one

works towards a long- term objective, and

proceeds towards it by making informed

choices. He urged students to keep the

flame of inquisitiveness ignited within, so

that they are able to maintain a focus and

remain oriented towards results.

dia in Japan with their Formula 1 Racing Car Magnum! Dr Amit Bhalla, VP, MREI, offered his best wishes to the Team as he flagged off the car for its promising journey The Formula 1 Racing Car ‘Magnum’ created by Faculty of Engineering and Technology, MRIU, was represented at the For-mula Japan (SFJ) com-petition between Sep-tember 6-12, 2016. The car is equipped with On board Diagnostic tool, over 160km/hour speed, detachable battery to address safety issues, the Formula 1 car is all set to make waves on foreign shores

Designer of Team Cool Runnings Devanshu and

Vice Captain Lakshya informed that Magnum is high on exclusivity. This is a 200 kilo light weight car. A Tata Nano engine of 624 cc converted into a 602.8cc engine has been installed inside the spe-cially designed car. All the safety issues have been taken into consideration during the designing of the Single Body car which has an on board diagnostic tool and a speed of over 160km/hour. The vehicle is also equipped with a detachable battery and a re-movable fuel tank as a precaution against accidents and emergencies of any kind.

PASSION IS THE MOTHER OF ALL INNOVATIONS: KUNAL

Inventors, orators, athletes, innovators, developers, speakers, leaders, such are the students that Manav Rachna International

University has been producing till now. One such product is Kunal Relan, BCA III YEAR who brought laurels to the University through his innovation.

TEAM SLOOP, Kunal’s team with two others, won HACK-ATHON in the Jaipur chapter in June 2016. Hackathon is a two day event where brilliant minds compete to develope a working proto-type of their respective ideas. Wow!

Now Team Sloop came with an idea that attracted everyone in Jaipur and ultimately they were the winners. Who could have thought that CCTV cameras can be useful other than catching thieves. But Kunal and his team dared to swim against the current and came with an idea. “Today we see cctv cameras in pantaloons, Aldo etc, all they do is record and keep the footages in some hard disk and ultimately they are trash, said Kunal.” Their idea was to the Analyse the demography of the people who are coming to such stores, using the cctv footages.Who can even think of that !

“These cctv camera footages would give you the report of how many males and females came to the store, added Kunal.” This would even help to study that what kind of people come to the store (age wise also) and what places in the store do people visit the most. This was the only best working idea and that’s how they won the Jaipur chapter and not only that, they have been funded with $ 20,000 for their idea to come into action.

This is just the beginning of this idea and Team Sloop has im-pressed a US based technology community ANGELHACK, who has invited Kunal and his team to Silicon Valley, San Fransisco in No-vember 2016 to demonstrate the working prototype of their idea.

Congratulations Kunal! With going more into details we got to know that Kunal is also an author and his book is going to be pub-lished soon by a famous publisher. Well done!

Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of En-

gineering and Technology, Ma-nav Rachna International Uni-versity, organized a two days Fusion Conclave (Fusion 360 National Championship) on 27th & 28th August, 2016. The Fusion Conclave was organized at 25 Zonal Centers across the India, with Manav Rachna Internation-

al University Campus being one of the zonal center. This is annual technical festival of IIT Delhi in associa-tion with Tryst IIT Del-hi and AutoDesk.

The event started on 27th Aug., 2016 with the formal welcome to all the delegates from MRIU and Autodesk by Prof. D.K. Dodeja, Convener of the Event. A total of 13 teams were participating in the event He also shared the ob-jectives, and scope of this event and explained the Fusion 360 Software in brief.

Mr. Aakash, Member of Fu-sion Conclave, gave a presenta-tion on AUTODESK and various

product offerings of Autodesk. His presentation focused on all the aspects i.e. advancement in the Fusion 360 software and the advantages of Fusion 360 soft-ware over other tools that are al-ready available in the market.

Welc oming the students Principal Dr Arundeep Singh gave a broad overview of the BDS program while calling Dental Professionals the ‘smile changers’.

Speaking on the occasion, General (Retd) Dr P.N. Awasthi, apprised students and parents about MRDC’s NAAC ‘A’ grade status . Deep-ly appreciative of students at the orientation meet, Dr O.P. Kalra, said, “Orientation day is an important milestone in a student’s life.. The Ori-entation Day also witnessed ‘white coats’ being awarded to 5 new mer-itorious MRDC students who had excelled at the NEET qualifying entrance exams as a mark of honour. The fresh batch also undertook the pledge to remain disciplined, respectful, regular and compassionate during their years in college while being spiritually conscious and mor-ally upright as part of the Manav Rachna code.

An interactive session for FET supervisors was held on 4th Oc-tober,2016 by Dr. N.K.Chad-ha, Professor and Chairperson, Research & Doctoral Program, MRIU.

The session was about ‘super-vision of Ph.D. Research Schol-ars’ where the supervisors were encouraged towards the impor-tance of their roles concerning the Ph.D. scholars.

Dr.Chadha has taken up an initiative of setting up the research culture across the campus and to streamline the existing scenarios with his knowledge and expertise. Working on these lines Dr. Chad-ha has been actively involved in improving the quality of research with the University by involving Ph.D. supervisors and scholars.

The session commenced with the discussion about the cur-rent scenarios of Ph.D. programs concerning every department followed by a healthy interac-tion. The supervisors also agreed to inculcate the right attitude of research in the scholars from day one to ensure deliverance of sub-stantial quality of work from the scholars.

The cleaning of the Faridabad Railway station is done un-

der the Swacchh Haryana Swac-chh Bharat initiative by various units of Manav Rachna Educa-tional Institutions. On 18th June, 2015, the cleaning was performed by Faculty of Computer Applica-tions (FCA). Ms. Vishawjyoti and Ms. Mridula Batra went to the railway station along with five sweepers and sweepress carried out the cleaning work in consul-tation with station master Mr. K C Meena.

As a quantum step in the learning processes at FMS, the department is honoured to be associated with

Padmashree Dr. Pritam Singh. A management guru and the harbinger of change for many academic institutions, Dr. Singh’s expertise ranges from nurturing individuals to building organizations. He has led institutions such as MDI, Gurgaon, IMI, New Delhi and IIM, Lucknow to achieve sublime heights. As Dr. Singh interacted with faculty members and students at FMS during Septem-ber and October. 2016, his wisdom mesmerized one and all, while his openness to new ideas indicated his appreciation for change. He motivated faculty mem-bers by urging them to think beyond the possibilities which are visible, which is possible if our perspective for

constraints un-dergoes a change. Dr. Singh en-lightened faculty members with some time- test-ed success man-tras for classroom engagement. ns.

On 5th of September , a free denture delivery initiative

was conducted and collaborated by the Department of Prostho-dontics, Manav Rachna Dental College in association with the Innerwheel Club of Faridabad Central as part of nutrition week. Department of Prosthodontics is always on the forefront to help the needy patients and for well being of their oral health. In the pro-

gram, free dentures were provided to the patients by thepost-gradu-ates and faculty of department of prosthodontics. Chief Patron of Manav Rachna university Dr. Sa-tya Bhalla and District chairperson Mrs. Renu Gupta distributed the complimentary denture mainte-nance kits to the patients on this occasion.

A total of 17 patients were bene-fited from the program.

In a first of its kind initiative for the incoming 2016 batch of stu-

dents of B. Sc. (Hospitality and Ho-tel Administration), a visit was orga-nized to Hotel Crowne Plaza, New Delhi (a property under the aegis of the Intercontinental Hotels Group: IHG), on September. 3, 2016.

Students were provided with an insider’s view of various hotel pro-cesses and operations. They visited the front office and back office areas

for the restaurants, laundry, kitchen, spa center and housekeeping. They were also taken around the various categories of rooms offered by the hotel. This provided the students a first glimpse of the industry. With guidance from accompanying fac-ulty members, Mr. Syed Najmus Saqib and Mr. Narender Suhag, students were able to instantly link their theory lessons to the practical implications.

Department of mechanical en-gineering, Faculty of engi-

neering and technology (MRIU) organized a one day industrial visit for third year students at Yuva en-gineers Faridabad. Yuva engineers are a leading O.E.M in Faridabad founded in 1991 by Mr. Yogesh gulati and Mr. Umesh gulati. The company deals in sheet metal and fabricated components and are leading producer of Railway parts, Harvester combine parts, cranes and backhoe loader parts etc.

The industrial visit gave an industrial insight of a manufac-

turing unit to the students. Mr. Umesh Gulati (Managing direc-tor) introduced the students to different manufacturing process-es and machines like Profile gas cutting machine, MIG welding, Power presses, Welding techniques etc. Mr. Yogesh gulati (Chairman) elaborated the importance of qual-ity standards being followed in the industries. Mr. Ravi (senior engi-neer) described the importance of different available design software’s like Solid edge, Pro-E, CATIA , Solid works, ANSYS and NAS-TRAN etc.

Manav Rachna International University launches

Mitsubishi Factory Automation Lab in collabora-

tion with Mitsubishi Electric India to bridge the Indus-

try-Academia gap and provide exposure to students in

the Automation sector.

In its efforts to provide high quality trained man-

power to the industry, Manav Rachna has always be-

lieved in imparting education that is customized to suit

industry’s demands. It collaborated with Mitsubishi

Electric India (MEI) for launching the Mitsubishi Facto-

ry Automation Lab on 26 September, 2016. The launch

comes in the wake of the signing of an Agreement be-

tween MRIU and MEI to supplement the existing MoU

signed way back in 2013. The Mitsubishi Factory Au-

tomation Lab was launched by Mr Makoto Yokoyama,

Director, Mistsubishi Electric India and Head of Fac-

tory Automation & Industrial Division (FAID) in the

gracious presence of Dr Amit Bhalla, Vice President,

MREI; Dr Sanjay Srivastava, MD, MREI and VC, MRIU;

Dr M.K. Soni, Executive Director & Dean, FET, MRIU;

Mr Hiroshi Kitamura, General Manager, Factory Au-

tomation Centre, MEI; among other Senior dignitaries

and guests. Mr Makoto Yokoyama interacted with the

students and spoke at length on MEI’s products and ser-

vices, its CSR initiatives based on its corporate mission

to further its ties with educational institutions in India.

It is noteworthy that MEI is hosting the Second MEI Cup

to be held in February 2017 in which MRIU has qualified

among the top 35 Colleges in the country from among

the 100 participating colleges.

Manav Rachna was proud to host Mr Anand Kumar, Founder of Super 30 as he vis-

ited the campus to engage in a fruitful interaction with Senior Dignitaries and

MRIS Students. Mr Anand Kumar, Founder of Super 30 and a legend in academic circles,

visited the campus on 24 October 2016, and met Dr Prashant Bhalla, President, Manav

Rachna Educational Institutions and Dr Sanjay Srivastava, Managing Director, Manav

Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI).

Having mentored students under the Super 30 programme, he coaches economically

underprivileged students for IIT-JEE, Mr Anand Kumar understands the true value of

education and what it can do to transform students’ lives. He is also a Mathemetician

and columnist for various national and international mathematical journals and magazines and was invited by

the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University to speak on his globally

acclaimed effort to mentor students from the underprivileged sections for admission to IIT.

At Manav Rachna, he engaged in an interactive session with the Leaders of Tomorrow—more specifically,

Grade XII scholars from Manav Rachna International School (MRIS) Sector 14, 46 and Charmwood. Mr Anand

Kumar also told the students to respect and value their teachers and the need to bring in changes in the IITs so

that the not-so-privileged students have better chances of education. His motivational words and down to earth

simplicity won over the students.

The Government of India has to put a ban on the impact of various goods from China. Some electronic

items like Diwali lights, Diwali crackers, Mobile phones and other items should be under the scanner.

The main reasons for boycott of Chinese products are that they are helping Pakistan economically. In the

light of recent tension between India and Pakistan, China had played a very important role by helping Paki-

stan. And also if we boycott their items and use our Indian items our economy will also rise. Unemployment

from our country will also decrease. India's boycott won't even put a dent on the Chinese economy. It is,

however, a self blow. Some of the reasons are that due to over population in China they give us low quality

products. They use cheaper materials and cannot serve good requirements to customers . So all together I

want to convey my message that don't use Chinese product and follow the slogan ''MAKE IN INDIA ,MADE

IN INDIA ''.

I am Happy to inform that on 7th Oct 2016, Manav Rachna Interna-

tional University has awarded PhD to me in Management subject.

I had registered myself with MRIU in 2009-10 & worked on the topic

EVALUATING PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL SYSTEM & ITS IMPLEMEN-

TATION IN INDIAN PUBLIC SECTOR BANKS. I carried out this re-

search study under the supervision of Dr. NC Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor

MRIU & co-supervision of Dr. S. Banerjee. After retiring as Dy. General

Manager, Punjab National Bank, on 31 December 2007, I joined Manav

Rachna group of institutions on 2nd January 2008. Earlier, I did my M.

Talking to the gathering, Dr Amit Bhalla welcomed the participants to

the mega event as the host University. He also highlighted the changes in

the education scenario and the fact that it had moved forward and in the

right direction. Dr Amit Bhalla also stated, in the entire journey of educa-

tion, it was time to stop teaching as per the dictates of tradition. Now, the

emphasis was on what we can learn.

Dr Amit Bhalla also emphasized MREI’s commitment towards nation

building and creating better human beings and concluded his speech by

inviting participants to create a structured ecosystem where new innova-

tions and ideas gained ground.

Hon’ble Minister Shri Vipul Goel, in his impassioned speech said,

“We are here to usher in an innovative India. Startup Jalsa gives us a great

glimpse of India’s future. Haryana Government is committed towards pro-

viding all out support to startup initiatives in Faridabad. The new gener-

ation is known for their amazing ideas and gives us the confidence that

India is sure to reach super power status.” He also deeply appreciated Ma-

nav Rachna’s support in making this biggest startup festival an event to

remember.

Following the inauguration of Startup Jalsa, Hon’ble Shri Vipul Goel

announced that Haryana was setting up India’s first integrated Startup

Park. He pointed out that his government was also evaluating the finer

aspects of the Startup Policy which would be announced soon for invit-

ing feedback and inputs from the public. He emphasized that he and his

government were fully committed to extend every support to startups in

Haryana. As a matter of fact, the Haryana Government had taken several

initiatives to boost entrepreneurship in the state. A 16-acre Startup Ware-

house was being set up in Gurgaon in partnership with NASSCOM. Farid-

abad, which has been shortlisted for development as a Smart City, had im-

mense potential as a great hub for start-ups and the Startup Jalsa 2016 was

testimony to that fact.

Mr Sumit Jain, who engaged in an interactive session with the audi-

ence, outlined the hallmark of an entrepreneur, advising budding entre-

preneurs that they should not blindly follow anyone but do things their

own way. He also said, “Please learn to fail, for that is what builds the pil-

lars of success.”
