3/4 has had an amazing start to Term 3, especially with being flexible when having other teachers for the first two weeks. It has been a busy start to the Term with public speaking and spelling bee finals. In Week One, 3/4 continued to explore their knowledge of stop motion with clay characters that they created themselves. Writing For this Term, 3/4 are exploring and creating persuasive texts such as an advertisement. They are also going to be working on planning and preparing for debates towards the end of the Term. Mathematics 3/4 are already becoming superstars with their knowledge of fractions! They can tell me what a denominator and numerator is and are doing so well at writing fractions! They explored writing their names in fractions as seen in the picture of Will’s work. 3/4 are also learning about 3D shapes, keep an eye out on Class Dojo for some pictures from our lessons. Drama In Drama, so far 3/4 have learnt about how we use our voices to express a different emotion. We have been practicing this with Reader’s theatre and when playing games such as ‘A-Litter’ation’ and ‘What are you doing?’. Regards, Miss Avery & 3/4 We hope that everyone had a wonderful break and we have had a great start to term 3. We have had many exciting new things happen this term including welcoming Ms C to our class on Thursdays and Fridays. Myself and Ms C have lots of new, fun and exciting types of learning planned for the term ahead. In 5/6, we have been focusing on creating a kinder and more thoughtful classroom where we are considerate of one another. Our goal is to continue to work as a team when learning inside the classroom and playing outside in the playground. English We have been working on writing a variety of persuasive texts. We have been exploring techniques in our persuasive writing which will help us become more convincing writers. Watch out parents – there may be some convincing arguments coming! Mathematics We have started learning about Fractions with Mr O and Angles with Ms C. There are some photos below of Ms C’s wonderful ‘Angles Art’ activity. Drama We have started exploring the elements and forms of drama in class. We have been doing activities that concentrate on building confidence, utilizing imagination, cooperation, turn taking, teamwork and collaboration. So far, we have explored mime and silent story telling. It has been lots of fun trying to learn how to perform a story without making any sound. We have also had plenty of laughs together and 5/6 have been really enjoying themselves. Mr O, Ms C & 5/6 School Photos - MSP photography did a wonderful job with our school photos in Week 1. All students were present and although it was a freezing day, everyone still smiled. We hope you enjoy the photos. Regional Renewal We’re enjoying our new covered walkway thanks to the RR Program which allowed us to complete this project with only a 30% contribution. A big thank you to the P&C for the $3000 contribution. PCYC Rugby Skills - Renae and Matt from Cessnock PCYC are delivering a program this term which teaches our students skills needed for Rugby.
