At Pauline Jr - we are safe, kind and respectful. Pauline
JuniorPublic School is a community school located near the corner
ofBloor and Dufferin.Pauline Junior Public School offers a
comprehensive program forstudents in Junior Kindergarten to Grade
6. Our talented anddedicated staff strive to meet the academic,
emotional, physicaland social needs of our students. We work hard
to ensure thatthere is a climate of respect, that diversity is
honoured and thatchildren are encouraged to be curious, creative
and responsible.
Technology at PaulineOur computer lab allows students tolearn
responsible use of the internetand expand their knowledge
andskills. Students work and create withour Interactive White
Boards (SmartBoards) through the use ofmultimedia projectors. We
are fullyWi-Fi and we are expanding our integration of technology
everyyear.

Ontario Early Years CentreThis program offers a place where
parents, caregivers andgrandparents with children aged 0-6 can:
enjoy learning & literacyprograms, learn about healthy child
development and have thesupport of Early Years staff and members of
their community.Pauline's site offers an Early Learning Drop-in and
a number ofpre-registered programs.
Communication with Parents - The AgendaStudents in Grades 1-6
all receive an agenda. We want ourstudents to be strong independent
learners. Students work withthem daily and we encourage our parents
to read the openingpages of the agenda for information about
Pauline and to sign itdaily. It is a great way to communicate with
the teacher as well.
On-going Professional Development for our StaffAs life-long
learners it is our goal to support student success. Thestaff
members of Pauline PS - our Teachers, Early ChildhoodEducators,
Educational Assistants, Office Staff and Caretakers-regularly
participate in professional development. This is alsosupported
through our Literacy and Numeracy Book Rooms whichprovide staff
with resources to use in their classrooms.
Student SucessOur school is committed to student success.
Teachers conductregular assessment to ensure programming is
responsive to studentneeds. The School Support Team meets monthly
to providesupport/interventions for students and families.

Student Life - Where You Belong
Our outstanding staff demonstrate their commitment to
ourstudents on a daily basis in a number of ways. A typical dayat
Pauline Jr, starts with focused instruction in Literacy
andMathematics. Our afternoons are spent learning Science,Social
Studies, Music and Physical Education. Student mayalso participate
in library or computer lab activities to roundout the day.At
Pauline Jr PS, students are also involved in a variety
ofextra-curricular activities thanks to the dedication of ourstaff.
Students can join clubs, such as: Art Club, ChessClub, Cooking
Club, Primary/Junior Choirs or the SilverBirch Reading Club. We
also offer a variety of competitiveand non-competitive sports
activities, such as: CrossCountry, Volleyball, Badminton, Track and
Field, to name afew.

Pauline is a small school in a wonderful diverse and
vibrantcommunity just steps away from Bloor and Dufferin. Wevalue a
balanced approach to learning - one that focuses onhigh
expectations for academic achievement combined withpromoting
fitness and health. With the support of the SchoolCouncil, students
have had classroom chess classes, avariety of cultural
presentations and various other events forthe school. Our students
go on a variety of field trips and wehave visiting performers (ex.
Dufflebag Theatre) who cometo the school for special
assemblies.

At Pauline PS, we have: field trips to the Gladstone Public
Library,the local fire hall, neighbourhood stores and services in
thecommunity to extend and enrich children's learning -
Partnershipswith OISE to provide practice teaching placements and
internshipsfor student teachers - Partnerships with High Schools to
provideCo-op placements for secondary school students - Our
SchoolCommunity Liaison Officer delivers streetproofing,
anti-bullyingprograms Parents interested in getting more involved
can: serve on thePauline School Council, assist with the School
Council fundraisinginitiatives, school yard greening AND volunteer
to read with studentsand as supervisors on class field trips.
