Basal Cell Carcinoma, Sclerosing Type
Pearls Nests of basaloid cells
merging with angular spiky nests
Desmoplastic or scar-like stroma
Melanocytic Nevus, Intradermal Type
Pearls Nests of bland
melanocytes localized to dermis
Maturation, good peripheral circumscription, no cytologic atypia, no mitotic figures in deeper melanocytes
Seborrheic Keratosis
Pearls Flattened and fused rete
ridges
Epidermal hyperplasia
Horn pseudocysts
Basal Cell Carcinoma, Superficial Multifocal Type
Pearls Basaloid nests attached
to undersurface of epidermis
Look for peripheral palisading
Look for stroma-tumor clefting
Compound Melanocytic Nevus
Pearls May be dome shaped,
symmetrical
Junctional melanocytesmerging with dermal melanocytes
Good maturation with no cytologic atypia or deep mitotic figures
