JUNIOR SCHOOL COUNCIL NEWS
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Over the last two weeks of Term 3, we are inviting students to
bring in boxes of breakfast cereals or packaged snacks for the
for the ASRC (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre). The ASRC
is a volunteer organisation that provides Foodbank donations
to those seeking asylum.
This idea was raised
by Reis Z in class 4C,
to help the refugee
children who may
miss out on some of
the basic necessities.
Please take the cereal
boxes or packaged
food snacks and leave
them outside the main
office in the boxes
provided for collection.
Thank you,
Zara B (6B)
(on behalf of the JSC)

ENVIRONMENT LEADERS
On Friday 8 September, the Environment Leaders attended
Part Two of the Big Green Schools Conference. The students
participated in hands on workshops in the amazing grounds of
St Louis de Montfort's, and also listened to some inspiring
public speakers - State Member for Mordialloc, Cr Tim
Richardson and the Wildlife Conservation team from
Melbourne Zoo.
The highlight of the day was the wonderful presentation given
by our Environment Leaders - Cameron C, Maddi S and
Keira S (Sarah B was absent). They showcased the two
initiatives they have been working on within our school - Nude
Food Wednesdays and the vertical garden. They spoke so
well and the panel was obviously impressed with the work
they have done - they WON first place! What a fantastic
achievement!
This would not have been possible without the support from
the wonderful students, families and staff at PLPS - thank you
to everyone for continuing to bring Nude Food, for donating
succulents for the vertical garden, and for helping to construct
the garden in your own time. Special thanks to the Garden
Club students and staff.
Without your support, the Environment Leaders wouldn't have
anything to work with. So, THANK YOU!
Ms Lamaro and the Environment Leaders
FOOTY DAY
PLPS are holding their annual Footy Day on the last day of
Term 3, Friday 22nd September.
We are inviting children to come to school wearing their
favourite team colours in support of this day and also invite
students to bring in coins to form a coin line. All proceeds
raised from the coin line will be donated to the Fight Cancer
(in children) organisation that we are supporting this year.
We will be holding a special assembly in the school hall and
there will be numerous footy rotations throughout the day.
Thank you for your support.
MAKING OUR MARK - DONATIONS OF BOOKS
Each year our Yr 5 & 6 students work together in teams to budget for, create, market and sell a product at a school market. The program is called 'Making Our Mark' and all profits generated from the market go towards a legacy project, as a reminder of the students’ great contribution during their time at Patterson Lakes Primary School.
One of the craft products the students will be making this year will involve the use of second hand books.
If you have any soft or hard copy books lying around the house that you wouldn't mind donating for this great cause, please deliver them to the office or Ms Dyer in room 24.
Thank you!
