University’s Heart & Vascular Institute is a world-class facility, thoughtfully

and masterfully designed around the patient experience. The four-story heart

and vascular care center is the largest, most-comprehensive in the region, with

more than 188,000 square feet of space. It brings together under one roof a

healing environment, family focused care and decades of clinical experience –

all designed to support patients from diagnosis to rehabilitation.

Cardiovascular & Pulmonary DiagnosticsDiagnosticproceduresperformedinthisareaincludecar-diac and vascular ultrasound, stress testing, pulmonaryfunctiontesting,ambulatorymonitoringandmanagementofEKG’sperformedthroughoutthehospital.

University also has the only vascular lab in Georgia andNorthCarolina to receiveaccreditation inallfiveareasoftestingfromtheIntersocietalCommissionfortheAccredi-tationofVascularLaboratories.

The main entrance of the Heart & Vascular Institute opens to an expansive lobby with gleaming tile floors and skylights designed to create a bright, airy space. In addition to the beautiful space and comfortable seating, the lobby area features:

Cardiovascular Post Anesthesia Care UnitTheCardiovascularPostAnesthesiaCareUnit(CVPACU)isa10-bedareathatreceivespatientsdirectlyfromtheop-eratingroomsafterhavingundergoneopenheart,thoracicorvascularsurgery.TheCVPACUwaitingroomislocatedonthesecondfloor,overlookingthelobby.Thewaitingroomphonenumberis706/774-5587.

Cardiovascular Interventional SuitesUniversityhasmovedwhatwasformerlyknownastheCardiacCathLabstoanewareacalledCardiovascularInterventionalSuites.Theareaincludesthreededicatedcardiaccatheterizationrooms,twoperipheralvascularroomsandanelectrophysiologylab.

ThetwoupperfloorsoftheHeart&VascularInstituteinclude72UniversalBedpatientrooms,designedtoprovidepa-tientswiththewidestarrayofcarewhileallowingforopenfamilyvisitationandahighnurse-to-patientratio.PatientsintheHeart&VascularInstitutebenefitfromthefacility’snewmodelofcare,whichminimizestheneedtomovepatientsfromunittounitandhelpsthecareteamgettoknowthepatientandfamilybetterduringtheirstay.
